TRAVEL DEEPER.
Hey Friends! Thanks for watching as always! ONE CORRECTION, Betamax (grilled pork blood) refers to the Betamax cassette tape, not the Boombox. Ave misspoke, please take it easy in the comments. I will always DELETE comments that are negative (and not constructive) - there is no room for trolls on this channel. IF this is you, please unsubscribe. This is a place of POSITIVITY.
Also, BIG NEWS! I just launched my first Facebook Watch Show!!! If you like my content, please go follow along for shorter Travel Deeper episodes here: facebook.com/traveldeeperwithgareth/
LOVE YOU ALL and see you next week from Northern Luzon!!
😂😂😂 i watched this video for 3x before i write down my comment about those street foods.
First: street foods are good if the preparation were good.
Second: those are good if the dipping sauce were good, as well.
Third: those street foods are good with soda drink or beer as your drinks. Panulak( street language for drinks)
Fourth: balut is good if its warm and only 16days old not the 21 days old.... and the vinegar is a little bit spicy..
Conclusion...next time....choose street foods with good dipping sauce and much better to buy on a small vendor rather than a big volume vendor. Because at the small street vendor, they cleaned and cooked it properly. I am not saying that the big bolumes are dirty.. My problem with the big volumes, they have the 3minutes rule of cooking/grilling. In the end, sometimes, its uncooked. While for the small vendor they did it really well.. Goodluck for your adventure at the North..Go south as well...God bless!!!
Hi I'm always watching it blog
Ur blog
Good job @Gareth, Im a Filipino, i tasted those but not a fan of street food fried or grilled, for my parents did not raised us to buy such. Due to influence of my peers I was able to taste those, its cool to try but not advisable for daily consumption.
@Gareth enjoy the Philippines.
Discard the hard part of the balut... It's very chewy, I don't usually eat it...
Thumbs up for Manong Balut vendor for the awesome customer service. Even offering to rinse your hand like that. 👍 👌
that is what all balut vendor do if u eat balut..
@@ryenavarro9849 not in our barangay 😆
I’ve been to Philippines several times. I’ve devoured a lot of street food. I’ve never been able to bring myself to eat balut!! Props man!!
Next time your in Cebu check out their street food it’s so good.
Balut is viagra of pinoy!
They even wash ur hands.. That's how Filipinos so different from other nationalities 😍
That was so adorable when you gave the extra food to the kids. They loved it. They also loved being on camera. So cute.
Why doesn't travel channel hire you? I swear dude you have top quality content
I appreciate it Jose... hopefully in due time!

Yes True Very Quality Video Contents Respect to Our Culture.Thank u Sir
Jarrets to Eating Food street Esp. BALUT your an Officially Becoming A FILIPINO..
Even the street vendor’s customer service was top notch. 👍
Haha, so true!
Love your shows Gareth 💗 My favorite so far is the one where you stood the exact spot your grandfather took a picture at so many years before. If I may say sir that you remind of the late great Anthony Bourdain on how you find the great hidden spots, that everyone wants to go to but didn't know they were there before watching your show. Be safe on your travels sir and can't wait for more shows.
Thank you very much Larry!
oh my God! you are actually sitting in the side walk of the street! you are really real cowboy! GREAT!
My eye hurts now... been watching your Philippines vlogs since 2pm and its already past 8pm here in Toronto... it was so nice to see places that me myself as a Filipino has never been to. Me and my wife loves watching your vlog and we enjoyed it a lot. I got hooked up into watching vlogs like this only this week. I've seen few other vloggers, they look good and fancy but yours is different in a way that you explore not only the beaches and food but also the people and its culture. Good luck man to your next adventure! Philippines a lot more to offer even a year is not enough. Greetings from Toronto!
Btw, I felt jealous! Its getting cold here now... uggghhh missing that warm Philippine weather.
The intro scenes, combined with the perfect music, are glorious, just glorious. Does anyone wonder why I keep coming back to this?
Thank you! I always appreciate your engagement my friend! 👍
Eating that food definitely shows your "travel deeper" spirit! I was cringing the whole time!
It wasn't always easy, but it was a ton of fun!
I’m Filipino and I was cringing too, I ate balut before when I’m still a child but not anymore, when I learned that SDA should not eat duck I stopped eating balut, also SDA doesn’t eat blood and now I am a vegan so that must be the reason why I was cringing but at the same time I was laughing too.
maggie7408 hi , I am an sda too, with that corona virus, I think to be vegan is the best option.blessing.
Adidas in Brazil (Pés de galinha) very delicious!
I love "pés de galinha" and beer!
You’re so brave eating all those food! Makes me want to be adventurous like you next time I come visit the Philippines.
Street Food is a favourite of mine - so delicious and mouthwatering
and Filipino Street Food is just as i expected full of surprises!
Two great travel vlogger's collabing :D !!! - i hope one day i can do an indonesian food episode with you Gareth :D - that be a treat - that words you told me "never too big to collab" at Tokyo - Haneda still lingers with passion wew!
haha your face at 2:30 Gareth :P
the deep fried quail egg =D looks crispy as hell!! - i usually eat the soup based one with vegetables
delicious chicken rubber band haha - i always eat chicken feet for yumcha/dimsum but the filo chicken feet
haha you arent supposed to eat the bones gareth ahahah! gee aveloveinit didnt tell you fast enough haha..
Thumbs up for Balut - im not sure i can eat it just yet! :D that was something..

I always salut you to show the world the filipino culture.. i love your blog..
they all go great w/ ice cold beer. that's what you guys missed
Hey Gareth, when are you going to upload your Mountain Province experience? I've been waiting for it.
i think u have a lot of experience in mountain province specially sagada .😊
Oh my I admire your enthusiasm I’m Filipino born there but now living here in Seattle and I can not eat balut, thanks for appreciating our country and our culture
You should have your own show on Travel Chanel, you’re very good at this!
Another great video. Nice editing. Genuine reactions.
Do more food videos - I like your regular adventurous American travel tone when eating. You are not a snooty, bug-eating "Woeld-Music" guy with an open mind for everything on Earth. You are more... Normal. It is nice to see you suffer trough a few things. It makes the things that you actually like more powerful. And it gives me hope for our people.
It might have been kinder for Ave to explain how to eat the different items rather than leaving you to fend for yourself, it is like being given a banana for the first time and having to figure out how to eat it. And why would you give someone something to eat that you wouldn’t eat yourself? That’s such a great way to introduce someone into your culture ... You’re a brave man to eat a duck foetus from a street cart vendor ...
Ave is hilarious! Love her travel vlogs and probably the best travel vlogger in the Philippines.
She really screwed you over keeping chicken foot information. Your face eating that. I can't stop laughing.
Thank you for this series. You've helped me scratch this off my list.
Gosh y it took me so long to discover your yt channel...@avelovinit is my fave local youtuber...i'm glad you're friends w/ ave👌
Oh God.. i miss that chaos of Manila.. 🇵🇭❤️
Texture’s what gets ya! Great vid dude!
Gareth love your videos. The more you eat balut the more you'll love it. Thanks for sharing your food to the kiddos that was awesome you are class act my friend.
I am determined to like it! Haha, thank you very much.
Awesome video, Gareth! Filipino street food looks so interesting and really delicious! Haha, if the Betamax tastes like liver then I know I probably wouldn't like it...liver is one of the few things I really dislike, but I'm glad you liked it! Did you eat the bones of the Adidas?? I've heard balut looks far scarier than it actually is...but I've also heard some people actually get feathers with some of the more developed ones. Good luck on your hunt for more balut, man! One of my favorite videos of yours. I love how respectful you are of all the different cultures you showcase in your videos!
For me, I don't like Adidas. I'd prefer Nikes. 😂
betamax does taste a bit livery, but mostly tastes like spongy meatloaf. i don't like liver but i can get by with betamax :)
Manuel Degamo 😂😂😂😂
Hi Gareth! I honestly love your blog! The best! I felt the sincerity of you in every place you've been here in the philippines! And the one thing I really like is when you got emotional on visiting the same location where your grand father went. So endearing. Keep it up! Hope I can meet you! 😊😊😊👍

Hi Gareth, I am filipino living for ages now in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and I am missing Philippines and the filipino food terribly while watching your videos ha ha ha. Thanks for great videos and thanks for being positive person, I need positive vibes right now. I was worried that you will be choked when you put the whole chicken feet or the "fingers" part in your mouth and did not spit out the tiny bones ha ha ha
Keep coming the videos man and keep spreading the positivity in this world..i will do the same in my own way.
Thats why every filipino dont love wasting food .. so every part of the food and Even blood we eat that😋
Shame on you Bastard. How would you feel if someone slaughter you and eat your body part ?
Mrone mate your feelings wouldn’t matter anymore because you’d be dead by then.
uh oh ... I can eat any food but without blood in it.
I’m late to your vids but I really enjoyed your series on the Philippines
I was going to comment on the Betamax thing but I see you got it covered. Yeah, it was the precursor of VHS from what I remember. I actually do not eat chicken feet, but the squid balls and fish balls I eat whenever I visit home. Balut, I love the soup and the yolk, the rest of it I give to someone to eat. There's another version called balut penoy, and it doesn't have a developed embryo, just basically egg yolk.
Great videos Gareth ! From beautiful places in Philippines down to street food , your awesome!!
You took that balut like a champ. Not bad for a first time ♥
Haha, thank you!!
You are a brave and daring man Gareth. Love your honesty and true to challenge yourself eating local Filipino street foods. Love watching your videos, so continue in keeping us viewers about your experience here in the Philippines. God bless
You are one brave man having that balut my friend. I have only eaten it a couple of times, and during those times, I was falling off the chair for being so drunk.
Nice 👍 video miss Philippines already bro.tanx venturing Filipino goods and culture.. soon as this covid-19 pass we will go dome to make reunions and eat alot of exotic street foods..
Thank you so much for visiting the Philippines I hope you enjoy
Eating street food in the streets! Most authentic street food eating content ever!
Hi Gareth , hope ur enjoying ur blogging in the Philippines n we love to watch all ur videos. Be safe always😊👍✌️
I really like the video. You try everything and you don't exaggerate like other Ytubers
Kudos for you trying the balut
Oh wow, my two favorite vloggers got together... Nice !!!
One among the very few respectful vloggers.... in phillipines
wow! nice to see you with my fav filipina vloggers Ave. !!! She makes me laugh ang smile for her being natural ang full of humour! Good team
When you go up north, drop by Aling Lucing's in Angeles City for some real sisig. Aling Lucing is considered the person who made sisig famous. There's also a restaurant in Angeles City that serves "batuteng tugak" which are frogs stuffed with ground pork. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the restaurant but it's along the main street so it should be fairly easy to find.
The kids saying "Thank you" ❤
i love watching watching all your videos... It's really great....Love you.
Gareth, you are not supposed to look at the balut, that’s why they sell it late at night. Well, and also to sell as drinking food (pulutan). San Miguel or red horse pairs well. Awesome content! Keep it coming. Much love from Chicago!
Great videos. I spent two weeks in Metro Manilla in 2004. Kwerk kwerk is the best. I was given Balut but not told what it was. I thought it was just a hard boiled egg. Those crunching bones! I felt sick for hours. The energy in the city is incredible. I've also been looking at your Norway videos. I spent two weeks there too and am going back in September. There is nothing to beat travelling.
Balut vendor at 13:50 to 13:55 couldnt believe what he was seeing! Good job on another great and entertaining video Mr. Gareth👌👍
I like to see your video.
you looks so friendly and you can share many beautiful place, nature, culure and local friendly in other country with you .
Missed everything on the Philippines thanks exploring Philippines we loved yah
Thank you sir for your appreciation of our Filipino food keep safe always sir and god guide you also god bless on your vlog
Ang pretty ni Ate. I hope you will go back to the Philippines soon Gareth.
You ate balut!! I'm impressed!! I like balut, but I skip the hard white part. Good job, G!
WOW! Thats awesome trying our streets food especially the balut .thats really something immersing yourself to our culture .👏👏
Hi Gareth, i couldn't beleived that you were right here in Makati Ave, Makati City, Philippines eating Balut. We appreciate for enjoying eating filipino street foods.
Amazing Videos..Hope you visit the Philippines again and feature some of the remote Islands that you haven't explored yet. Kudos Bro.
Youre so brave and natural reaction best male vlogger ❤
When i eat balut , i drink the broth first, without adding vinegar and salt. That way i can taste the umami flavor of the soup, which i love the most about balut.
you r brave......first time to see a vlogger not freaking out eating balut. that addidas is so freaking me out....never will ever try that. i did eat balut one time just to impress friends. there is another delicacy egg called penoy. this one doesnt have the embryo. and more enjoyable to eat.
Thank you, and I will have to try penoy next time!!
Marami din sigurong nabiling souvenir item ito, you are no longer new to our culture!! long live❤️❤️
Hi Gareth! I challenge you to come to Pampanga and eat camaru (cricket) and stuffed frog.
Ahhh. Camaru and a pint of beer! 😁
I suggest that for starters it is best for you to try a 16 day old balut next time around. Also ng pork intestine and pork ears are good finds as well. Visit the bbq stalls around the vicinity of UP😊
balut is also healthy.. actually that chicken feet, there is a recipe called ASADO, the chicken feet is soooo tender and you could actually chew everything.. AND IF YOU'VE ONLY TRIED TO BITE THE BONE, in the chicken feet, it is the most delicious part, and by the way, chicken feet are rich in collagen..
I agree with others, you should have your own show. Very positive attitude at same time honest. Hats off to you for trying balut.when I was there in 2018 I was gonna eat balut in front of my daughter & wife who is Canadian. Just to see their reaction. But I couldn’t do it. And I’m Filipino lol
Gosh..I’m craving right now .. I miss those streets food in the Philippines 🇵🇭👌👌
I like my balut with just salt. It brings out the flavor of the duck, yum!
So glad I ran into your vlogs! You are superb!! Great videos, great contents, great job!!!👌👌👍👍🥰🥰
Luv the video, nice that u exploring other kind of foods, will like to experience it.
Actually here in Vietnam, they have grilled chicken feet as well but to reduce the creepiness and weirdness of it they split it in half...
A first here! Hello Gareth! You're so awesome! :)
Hi Garett Leonard I watch your videos every day you always make me happy always
And this video is very entertaining. The Balut’s natural flavor is actually delicious. It tastes like chicken broth. Try the broth without the vinegar. It’s amazingly delicious. As for the entire thing, we Vietnamese people eat it with salt and pepper mixed with lime juice. And this herb. I just don’t know what the English name for the herb is but it’s delicious with the embryo. However I don’t like the squishiness of the embryo. I usually eat the yolk and the white part
you are like my favorite travel-foodie guy, Chef Anthony Bourdain. You can be the next bourdain bro. .. videos are awesome...
I don’t like the embryo of the balut, but I love all of your videos I’ve seen so far. Man, you’re not a typical vlogger!
Hope you could have philippines vlog part 2.try to visit batanes during months of february-april when its summer time here in the philippines.
I like your attitude. I amazed to watch your vlog. More power Leonard
Omg 😱 thank you for traveling to the Philippines 🇵🇭 love everything you featured here. ♥️💜❤️
Just stumbled into this vid recently and I highly applaud it but woman Betamax is a video tape player whilst boombox is what they called radios with tape decks back in the 80s. They called that food betamax because the shape reminds you of a Betamax tape. Oh and both are products of Sony. Again the Betamax is the uncle of the VHS player..
