Have seen Willie live twice and nothing, absolutely nothing can prepare you for the experience. One time he was playing with Johnny Cash. Now that was a defining moment in my life.
I saw him perform "Pancho and Lefty" live with Merle Haggard in 2008. Seeing the emotion on their faces as each sings about the two sears the song into your soul.
my 1st concert ever was outlaw music festival in 2021. Saw willy nelson. I cant explain. I was 29 years old. Since I had graduated I'd been in the coal or the auto plant. Glad me and my wife went.
13 years old, growing up poor, Black all we had was a radio living in the city Richmond Virginia, ❤ All day Saturdays listening to country music,❤ My mom grew up picking cotton, Northern Neck Virginia, , was a fan of country music, only station on radio, ❤ I will never forget Willie Nelson voice,, voice from the Heavens, ❤
Keep on keeping on brother from Kentucky. I’m white but went to cambellsville high school. Cross town rivalry was the Taylor county cardinals. They had one or two black guys and I lived in the county but transferred to the city school and played football. Man… some of my best friends were black. You know some of the guys didn’t give some people a chance or always had a joke about the black guys. I always took up for my friends. Black or white. Plus we always beat there racial asses by a lot. lol. Back then anyway. I’m a graduate from 1995 and proud to be friends with some of the best athletes, smart, hard working, good hearts, hard knocks, and amazing minds of my African male brothers. I’d go to war with any of them today. I’m country as cornbread… but so were those good people that were born with just a little different color of skin. You and me the same! F-- color my friend. Love Ky
To hear Willie play this instead of Cold Play heals my very soul. I can hear it again as the Cold Play version hurts too much to hear as a certain lady out there left me behind for someone she thought was better than me and then recanted later he wasn't. This song resonated her leaving my life, I couldn't bear playing it anymore after we parted.
I think the saying is everyone dies twice. The first time is when you take your last breath, The second is when your name is spoken for the last time.. But I appreciate the honor you give to Willie and I agree, it will be a looooonnngg time til his name is spoken for the last time..
Willie covered this song for the movie The Judge. That movie destroyed me. My dad died unexpectedly one night at 47 a week after we argued. Seeing that movie rips my heart out be cause I so wish I had those moments with my father. This song at the end of that movie with the empty seat wow… Whenever I hear this song it reduces me to tears, like ugly face cry tears.
I got to take my mom to see Willie at our local fair, for her birthday! This kid with crutches walks up to the front of the stage, and Willie throws the kid his headband. The crowd exploded with this sound, like you saw someone get into heaven.
IDK I've found the Lukas Nelson concerts I've seen have been amazing. Well when half your DNA is Willie's, you have the potential to build on greatness
An old buddy threw Willie his Stetson at a concert in Atlanta one night..I wasn't there of course but Willie wore it and purty sure Willie knew it was an expensive hat and my buddy was stoned and made sure he got it back. Dadgum that had to be around 1980 time flies

I knew I had heard this before by cold play but sorry guys willie put meaning into it for me I've listened 6 times in the last hr. I just get it now where before twas ok. Great job willie glad you recognized the beauty of the words.
This song gets me. My dad was the Presidential Science teacher of the year in the 1990's. He re-married and the lady he married has never had children. She has driven a division between us. Its too bad because my Dad lost so much these 11 years.
This will always be my favorite version of this song. Its just beautiful in such a profound way at least to me. Its the type of thing that makes think of the profound beauty of the universe as I look into the night sky.

He told me his stories from the road, and I told him mine. Eventually he confided in me he didn't know what he wanted to do next in his career and he asked me for advice. I told him to check out the Scientist by Coldplay, and that I could always see him doing a version of that song. He said when he had the time he would and 1 year later he releases this cover.

When Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash cover your song, and create masterpieces with them, you know you’re good. Thanks Chris Martin and Trent Rezner.

Absolutely, one of my favorite movies for sure . Anyone who has a rocky relationship with their dad can understand.

Angels are real. Messengers of Truth
I feel like Willie put the soul into this song

They say you never die

The day that Willie Nelson dies
He'll be here to stay

I'm so sorry man. Hope you're doing well and listen to what Lawrence said.
I’m so sorry you lost your dad. 47 is too young. I hope you know he’s watching over you and as long as you carry his memory he’ll never truly be gone.
Life is worth living. It's a necessary passage of time. God loves us.
I never appreciated how beautiful the lyrics to this song were until I heard it done in this style by Willie.
