- Good day everyone! For anyone who is new welcome! Gaming University is a channel that discusses the thematic and literary aspects of our favorite video games. While most of this content is centered on Analysis videos, we recently decided to take community requests and dabble in streams so that we can all hang out and break them apart live and unscripted.
When I first started this channel, many of the audience began making requests for games to play and discuss here. One of the most frequent requests was for the Persona franchise. On my own I played through Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 FES. It took roughly two years to play both considering my free gaming time is limited. In order to avoid this fate for Persona 5 Royal I decided to do this as a live stream. This way I can share my initial reaction with everyone.
This series will be a big undertaking but by maintaining this schedule I will get through in a much better time. I will be handling this playthrough without a daily guide. That being said I have been given a bit of advice with the hopes that we will max all Social Links. Any non-spoiler tips are accepted.

I see a demon sitting on a toilet and immediately recognize it as Belphagor.
Fun fact: In the anime Joker is actually shown playing the game and he has a death glare at Kamoshida after he gets hit in the face by the ball.

Basically, the Persona anime adaptations add more to the Protagonists than the games can
Yeah Facial Animations is a thing that gets lost a lot of the time in games depending on the graphics engine.
Sloth could relate to Kamoshida coasting on his laurels, he was a star athlete but rather than doing anything with it he milks it to rule a highschool

Funny you should say that....... there's a crossover game on the 3ds called "Persona Q2 New Cinema Labyrinth" where it's just all of the characters from 3,4,5 (including FeMC from P3P) interacting. I've been playing it in my free time and it's been pretty good so far. Plus the opening has Rapping Kamoshida and that is probably the best thing to come out.
I had a feeling we'd at the very get to Ann's awakening this stream
So far the game has been good about giving us good mini narrative beats to end off on. I never felt like we cut off in the middle of something so far.

So this just hit me last night that Ryuji was trying to punch Kamoshida (@1:28:47) with the same arm that the king that represents him on his card has bandaged. (@1:28:48) by restraining him Ren echos an upright Strength stopping him not out of any desire to show any mercy to Kamoshida but so Ryuji doesn’t get hurt by Kamoshida like he hurt him before.
Let's look for other cards for Ren both major and minor arcana.

Would it be okay for me to talk about Mementos Missions because there’s a lot of cool stuff related to Persona 5 but I can talk a lot of stuff without spoiling your play through?
I do recommend it after you’ve played through Royal.
I have a couple individuals who will be dropping certain info for me as needed during my playthrough. They know when to do it to avoid spoilers. But I appreciate the offer!
I hoped you would play this. Love your videos and thought this was perfect after I played it.....for 200 hours....and didn't finish.... lol
That being said, Ann romance (imo) is not correct.
Thanks! I'm happy to finally be playing it. And my Ann comment really came down to the Lovers arcana. I usually see it as the default romance since that is how they portrayed it in other games.
@@GamingUniversityUoG I’d like to view Ann’s subway chase and the diner scene as part of a more subtle tutorial on what Ren/Joker needs to do to get the most out of the confidants. There’s parallels to that scene and nearly every confidant going forward. They even added one for Royal for a certain confidant that wasn’t in the original.
Now I leave you with this like from Mementos talking about two lovers but also fits Ren and most of his confidants(so not exclusively romantic) , “The two wounded hearts (Arsène and Carmen both have broken heart motifs. Arsène with his five broken hearts on his sleeve and a lot on Carmen’s tights.) felt sympathy for each other’s plights, and they decided to cooperate.”
I know you really want to see the best in people, but sadly most of the villains in this game are irredeemable.

It's a default thing until I receive proof otherwise. Last episode pushed me to the edge. This one sealed the deal for me.
@@shelbybayer200 Honestly he’s the palace ruler who pisses me of the most. Because he should know better. He may have had good intentions but he’s still paving a path to Hell with them. To me his world view is a candy covered poison apple surface level sweetness and enjoyment but rotten and deadly to the core.
There’s other reasons but that goes into major spoilers.
does this mean lore videos on Persona 5?
I have a full series planned for Persona as a whole. But that won't be for a while. Got a lot of projects in the works to wrap up first.

For the Persona 3 stuff, I recommend looking into the Movies because it adds more character traits to Makoto Yuki even has a character arc you can't really recreate in the Games themselves
Oh yeah I'll be going through all the content I can before moving onto it. It's a huge franchise with a lot of moving parts related to these events and characters.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you enjoy the game. If case you missed it the latest Psychonauts went up less than a month ago. Nearly an hour video. I'm currently finalizing all video assets and notes for the next one. These, unfortunately, take a lot of production time to make than a lot of my other videos.
