- How to test alternator and how to do a voltage drop test and how to check the alternator voltage and check alternator regulator but first how to check battery voltage and battery charging voltage so how do you test battery voltage or how do i check battery voltage watch and find out very easy test on test battery with a multimeter and test alternator with a multimeter
Thanks for the video. If I'm not getting charging is it my alternator or regulator?
Baking soda mixed with tap water to clean off white/green corrosion build up.
I live in a cold climate & we gotta have good connections come winter time.
Hot water in a small cup is the best. There is a video on here about it.
When measuring below 1 Volt, use the millivolt setting on your meter. Far more accurate IMO.
Battery washer
Great video thanks for sharing with us
God bless

It is BEST to test for voltage drops UNDER LOAD. Just as he shows here. You can still see a drop with no load. Just won't be so drastic. If you have a heavily corroded battery terminal, you will see a drop with no load.
Appreciate this video 👊🏽
My car’s battery drops from 14.2 to 12.2 after either on the road running or idle park at around 25 minute mark, and both brake & battery signs on at the same time. Just bought a new battery. Is it a bad alternator or something else? Why it drops at or around 25 minute mark? Thanks for your video.
You ever figure this out
You have a Parasitic Draw.
My tacoma has 60 millivolts drop on idle on the positive side and 40 on the ground side. My car keeps killing alternators. I can't find where the trouble is. Rip. Good video btw 👍
60mv is only 0.06v most dont want more then 100mv (0.1v) and many say no more then 0.2v on neg and no more then .5v on pos so your voltage drop is not a issue at 60mv
HOT WATER is the best to clean terminals with. All others are messy and a waste of time. Why? Most sodas are acidic. You want either a neutral pH like HOT WATER or a higher pH like baking soda to neutralize the corrosion.
Can't see where you connected your negative probe for the positive voltage drop test
where'd you get those clamps those are genius lol
that engine has quite the tick tick.
Hey I did the Samething instead it says -0.01. It doesn’t show any numbers? What’s that mean?
You need to watch more videos like this. It will sink in, hopefully.
Carbonated drinks will clean the posts. Apply grease afterwards on terminals...keeps them protected from sir
Carbonated drinks don't clean anything. You have battery acid inside your battery. You want to neutralize the acid on the terminals. Most sodas are acidic. You want either a neutral pH like HOT WATER or a higher pH like baking soda to neutralize the corrosion.
Ok, but it works like baking soda. I put grease on cleaned terminals afterwards...old school
Good alternator, questionable lifter.. lol 😆
Fender grounds are crap. Firewall is better. Why? Fenders tend to bolt to other panels. Those bolts will be all rusty and corroded where you CAN"T see. Firewall is the most robust panel on the car. Well besides steel bumpers which new cars lack. Grounds should be to the STARTER, - battery post, rear of alternator case for high amp alternators and stereo systems and the firewall. Why? The starter is the highest amp draw on the vehicle.
I run a 12 foot negative wire directly from my car to the pavement. True ground is the best ground.
