  • The most important part of selling is to be patient and to understand that your words have to match your ambition. Selling products quickly and making more money by flipping/resale really just comes down to how much work you're willing to put into it. The more time and work you put in, the more you will get out of it... It's really not that hard, you just have to have the patience.
    Really great to have my man Charlamagne Tha God come and stop by my office to be on this episode of the #AskGaryVee show. If you don't know, Charlamagne Tha God is a radio show personality and an author. He recently published a book called "Black Privilege" which is about how he thinks that the black community should work on creating opportunities to overcome the societal disadvantages that they are given.

      John Basedow agreed. It’s not worth the time investment, there are better options BUT for the barrier to entry and amount of capital required it’s super good. Dude just isn’t patient.... I spend 60-80 hours a week sourcing, listing, shipping books and make like 8-10 an hour. But I know in long run that will grow a lot. People these days watch too many get rich quick schemes

    To be honest, a documentary called "My Journey to Mars" would be full of potential. It obscurity and novelty of the title leaves the door open to SO MANY opportunities. Johnathon can document flipping on eBay, trying to dial up Elon or the struggle to get into a space program. I hope he takes it to heart and hustles his face off. Hell, I hope he make it there.

    Jonathon definitely has a dollar amount he thinks he's worth per hour: $3348.55, per hour. 440 million divided by the amount of hours in 15 years.

    Great and positive advice. I've begun incorporating Gary Vee (and others) into my homeschool curriculum to teach my pre-teens money, finance, and the hustle. Only been at it two days and already see positive and motivational change to my kids. Gary has always been a motivator to me and i'm hustlin' in the snow, and now i'm sharing with my kids.

    I do buying and selling a lot, its not as much gary thinks it is. I have tried buying and selling from dollar stores, garage sales, craigslist, etc. The best thing I found is to learn your market and go for big ticket items because constantly listing small items with $5 proft is not very effective if you are the one packaging, shipping, buying, listing, etc.

    • @Pogohontas.
      @Pogohontas. 6 років тому +1

      Neil Blalock Have you learned your lesson since posting this comment? When something we are doing isn't going well, it's OUR fault, and we can do well if we think about it and work on it hard enough. The whole point he says that is to start people off, and it's working for me, because I won't relent until I'm where i want to be. At first I got hit so damn hard with reality of buying, packing, shipping cost vs profit, ebay fees, competitive listing, pictures, taxes, etc. But now I worked through the hump and am good to continue. And this is just the first step through the door, because my passion and career are not in retail arbitrage. Im actually just talking to myself now

    Some books are slow movers. I sell books. Some move fast. There are 2 basic strategies if you want to sell books. You can either search for specific books that move fast, or you can search for deals where you can buy large quantities dirt cheap ( the strategy I use). For instance, I bought 3500 books a few months ago for 14.50. many are slow long tail movers but about 1 in every 50 will sell within the first week. The trick is to list them fast and spend a lot of time throughout the day listing them. I try to list 40 to 50 a day. I sell other things to, but right now I'm focusing on all the books I have. Some will sell for a lot, some you may only make a dollar profit on. But as long as you put the work in, it can be very lucrative.

    First, we don't need $ 440 mil to go to mars. The guy might be passionate about going to Mars but is taking the hardest route to fulfilling his ambition. Honestly, I think he is a bit cut off from reality he needs a psychiatric check. Also, why would $440 mil matter anyway in terms of any additional happiness or safety he might get compared to just having just 1 - 2 million?
