As yo u may remember, l am always pleased if the Monster’s Den episode is a long one, this one qualifies in my book as it’s over an hour and a half. Wonderful! Thanks for the time you all dedicate to this show, best film related broadcast anywhere.
Davy, seeming tired and just sick of it all... "What do I do with this? Stick it on, hope for the best..." Hahahahaha! Good one, Davy. Been there, man. Marc p.s. and Craig's "Johnny Cushing" as well. Heh! p.p.s. Alo, after slightly recalling the treacherously bad BOG: "from what Davy's saying, I think I'm gonna have to buy this disc" Black Candles, Mortuary, The Church & Sweet Sugar (my picks)
Last week I saw Berlin Alexanderplatz (15+ hours) from 1980. 10 years ago I gave it a try but it didn't really click. This time it did. You must live and learn to appreciate it.
Revisited Charles Laughton in Hunchback of Nortre Dame which led me back 😮to his masterpiece. The Night of the Hunter from 1955. With Robert Mitchum and Shelly winters. What a cinematic acheivement. The scene with the kids hiding in a barn from the evil preist well serial killer to be precise whom was after the kids in attempt to steal $10,000 in stolen cash..and off in the distance you can see his silhouette beneath the night sky riding horse back. Brilliant. The film is so beautifully shot.
Just watched the entire episode at 630 am. Jamie/ an extra $37.00 for the cardboard to hold the 3 movies- 🍿 definitely- the curse is real “. Lol. Great / entertaining episode. Thanks guys 👍💯
Mr Majestic is my favorite Bronson film and one of my top 70’s movies. You should check out Rage 1972 starring and directed by George c. Scott if you haven't. Highly highly recommended.
"The Way of the Gun" is awesome. Great shootouts, great acting, and a unique twist on a semi-familiar story. From the classic opening scene to the last line... I've seen it half a dozen times, but it's been a while. Need to rectify that.
Still can’t believe all those screens and stuff going on behind Jamie. Anyway, are any of you guys on Letterboxd or anything? Would be interesting to see your movie lists.
Great show guys. Definitely need to check out the planet of the apes alternate version. And there's a few others I need to check out. I never saw the original Dune. I remember it being so long and very slow that I never finished the whole thing. I might have revisit that. Rock on.
The merch looks great! I’ll be getting a shirt. I’m seeing Late Night with the Devil tonight. Other stuff I’ve been watching: Deadwood: the movie, Blood Simple, Unwelcome, Firstborn (1984), Hangar 18, Death by Metal (Chuck Schuldiner doc)
Great show as always - Plenty of recomendations to check out thanks, I will check out Running Scared tonight. My recent watches have been a very mixed bag. The Great/Good: Godfather 2, Vampire Circus, Dredd, Countess Dracula, This Is England series, Taste Of Fear, Werewolf Of London, Platoon, Bone Tomahawk, Saxon documentary. The bad: The Vulture, Blackenstein, Beyond The Time Barrier and the Average: Notre Dame, The Night Flier, Beastmaster, He Never Died, PIN.
LOVE Craig's shirt! God to see you boys 🤘👹🤘 Speaking of Hitchcock : I watched Notorious again. One of my fave Hitch! Hey Jamie - how's your bracket now?? Ain't no way to took KY to lose to Oakland!😂😂😂
I can recommend 'Cat Sick Blues' which I watched recently, even as a cat lover myself, very entertaining and sick/funny. Many thanks guys, always love to hear what the panel has been viewing and bringing to The Monster's Den.
i was curious to find out what other films the director of Bone Tomahawk has done. I speak of S. Craig Zahler. I enjoyed both Dragged Across The Concrete and Brawl In Cell Block 99. Always nice to see Udo Kier and he is in both movies. Brawl..has some crazy gore scenes that reminded me Story of Ricky.
My parents took me to see Food Of The Gods. The ending creeped me out because I was worried my school would start serving tainted milk. The sequel is some times called Gnaw Food Of The Gods II. No giant cows, but the rats do return.
There's always something extra quirky and violent about Australian films here are a few that I recommend 1. Razorback 2. The Magician 3.Hounds of Love 4. The Loved Ones 5. Two Hands 6.The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith 7.Killing Ground 8.Snowtown 9.Wolf Creek 1&2 10.Out of the Blue
Chris mentioned Bloody Friday. I showed it to a friend the other week along with the Second Sight 4K of Mean Streets. Cool double bill. Also, I highly recommend the 88 Films release of the Franco Nero film Street Law.
Bloody Friday's German star Raimund Harmstorf (the strong man of German film and TV in the '70s and '80s) rose to fame with the mini-series The Sea Wolf by Jack London in 1971, one famous scene had him squashing a raw potato with his bare hand (apparently), later more mini-series success again in 1975 with Jules Verne's Michel Strogoff. He would later suffer from Parkinsons and committed suicide in 1998, aged 58.
Seen an evening with the devil yesterday at the theatre really enjoyed it . Dune part 2 was excellent. Watched killer clowns from outer space on bluray . One flew over the cuckoos nest again got rambo first bood on 4k .
I watched 3 or 4 blaxploitation, I finished Night Gallery season 3. Also watched Ghosts of Mars, House on Straw Hill and the documentary that came with it, Ban the Sadists Videos!
I saw Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire on Thursday. Definitely a solid addition to the franchise. But I just came home now from seeing Sydney Sweeney's really fucked up new film Immaculate. Pete, you will dig this one!
I rewatched Dune: Part I then saw Dune: Part II in theaters. I just watched the premiere of X-Men ‘97 earlier on Disney+ and Invincible Season 2 on Prime. Last month I saw Argylle and Madame Web, both were meh.
Some interesting choices here. And I agree with Jamie on Interstaller. A movie that makes no sense to the point where you get a headache because your brain can't wrap around the bullshit you're seeing in front of you. While Nolan has a few films I like but I hate, Interstaller and never EVER want to see that film again. And I'm looking forward to seeing Dune Part Two!
All I know is Priest is getting stronger while Maiden is over bloated and they forgot how to write strong non-10 minute memorable songs. Last two Priest albums are heads and tails ahead of Maiden IMO. Love the new Shield record. Saxon and Priest are showing the young guys how to do good metal 🤘🤘
One or two years I found a DVD copy of "Escape from New York" at a local bookshop for 4 bucks... Bought it excitedly only to get back home and discover that it was actually "Escape from LA", the shitty 97 sequel almost nobody liked. I guess I just read "Escape from..." and seeing Kurt Russell on the cover and my brain somehow did not make the connection.
Watched that sequel again the other day, it's so awful everything that worked in the first film is messed up here with Kurt just wandering around and silly shoot-out chases. Too many characters and crowded scenes leaving it just unmemorable. And that orchestral score, so unlike Carpenter to use something like that I bet Paramount forced it on him.
Have you guys ever seen a movie called "The Night God Screamed"? (1971). It was one of the movies on my "hunt it down" list when I bought the first Psychotronic film Guide in 1983. I did not see this movie until I bought a VHS off eBay in the late 1990s. Now, before the internet - I did a lot of movie buying based on reviews alone. Most of them were , OK, not bad or REALLY bad. Well, "The Night God Screamed" checked ALL MY BOXES: American. Grindhouse (ish) . Early 1970s. Mostly unknown cast. Good plot that does NOT feel like anything else at the time , Good pacing . Creepy atmosphere , a few shocking deaths, You will not know what will happen next ..but the climax is a DOUBLE SHOCK ending that makes perfect sense (and will have you checking that you locked ALL the doors and windows before you go to bed!). This movie was "lost". I do not think it played in theatres and here in NY state - it did NOT play on TV in the 1970s, 1980s or 1990s. If you like classic low budget shockers like "Blood and Lace" and "Don't Look in the Basement"; you will TOTALLY enjoy "The Night God Screamed".
As yo u may remember, l am always pleased if the Monster’s Den episode is a long one, this one qualifies in my book as it’s over an hour and a half. Wonderful! Thanks for the time you all dedicate to this show, best film related broadcast anywhere.

I've got HUNDREDS of postcards....my granny wouldn't really like one of Zombie Flesh Eaters :(
Last week I saw Berlin Alexanderplatz (15+ hours) from 1980. 10 years ago I gave it a try but it didn't really click. This time it did. You must live and learn to appreciate it.
Fassbinder excellent mini series glad to see you have rediscovered it.
Love the way Jamie shuts up shop in the closing moments.....I dread to think what your electricity bill is!! :)
One of my favorite shows in general, just awesome to listen to these guys. And thanks for all the movies I added once again to my watch/buy list!
Revisited Charles Laughton in Hunchback of Nortre Dame which led me back 😮to his masterpiece. The Night of the Hunter from 1955. With Robert Mitchum and Shelly winters. What a cinematic acheivement. A dark masterpiece, it was the only film he directed, the negative reception must have put him off directing.
Just watched the entire episode at 630 am. Jamie/ an extra $37.00 for the cardboard to hold the 3 movies- 🍿 definitely- the curse is real “. Lol. Great / entertaining episode. Thanks guys 👍💯
Been watching a bunch of gritty 70’s movies
Across 110th Street
Death Wish
The Mechanic
Mr Majestic
The Street Fighter
those are all great!
Mr Majestic is my favorite Bronson film and one of my top 70’s movies. You should check out Rage 1972 starring and directed by George c. Scott if you haven't. Highly highly recommended.
@@scottbrown9507thanks, I’ll look for it. I think The Mechanic is my favorite Bronson.
Bronson rules!!!
@@kevinm5957 Mine too!
Some great picks Dan, The Horseman and Running Scared are great and The Way of the Gun was decent but about half an hour too long.
Great show guys thank you!
"The Way of the Gun" is awesome. Great shootouts, great acting, and a unique twist on a semi-familiar story. From the classic opening scene to the last line...
I've seen it half a dozen times, but it's been a while. Need to rectify that.
Aloha!! To all
Watching you guys out in the pacific
Still can’t believe all those screens and stuff going on behind Jamie. Anyway, are any of you guys on Letterboxd or anything? Would be interesting to see your movie lists.
I watched Midnight Express (1978), a couple of weeks ago. I bought the film in a box set.
Great show guys. Definitely need to check out the planet of the apes alternate version. And there's a few others I need to check out. I never saw the original Dune. I remember it being so long and very slow that I never finished the whole thing. I might have revisit that. Rock on.
If Jamie can't identify Peter Cushing is he really SOT Management material
Yep..That was cringe as my daughter would say. Imagine one of the Squares confusing Priest with Sabbath.
I remember liking Suitable Flesh, pretty much in the vein of the late Stuart Gordon.
Great show as always - Plenty of recomendations to check out thanks, I will check out Running Scared tonight. My recent watches have been a very mixed bag. Jamie had a bad day at the office with the "Hammer" picks. 😅 Needs to do more homework!
So good guys! I’m looking into getting ‘Island of the fish men’ on blu ray
Zahler!!!! The best. Thanks for mentioning him Dan!
Excellent episode as always. Lots of titles added to much my watchlist. Love Jamie sporting 3 TVs haha
Cheers gang, let us know your watches too!

Nefarious. Sean Patrick Flannery is outstanding in his role. Hidden gem.
I now have a Diabolik account and Haunted Samurai on the way based on Chris’s recommendation.
It's definitely worth checking out 👌
Chris mentioned Bloody Friday. I showed it to a friend the other week along with the Second Sight 4K of Mean Streets. Cool double bill.

Nice one Larry. I also recognised his ginger bollocks from the original Inglorious Bastards.
Oh yes, a few Bud Spencer movies too. 🤜
Good show however I believe Robert Rodriguez directed El Mariachi
thank you I stand corrected Carlos starred as the lead character and co produced it. he was also involved in both sequels
Seen an evening with the devil yesterday at the theatre really enjoyed it . Dune part 2 was excellent. Watched killer clowns from outer space on bluray . One flew over the cuckoos nest again got rambo first bood on 4k .
Black Candles
What is Chris' alternative 2112 shirt?...never seen it.

I heard the Western hour of the gun mentioned, I absolutely love westerns does anybody else?
100% - from classics to revisionist and neo-westerns.
Alo , the king 👑 !
Nefarious was my fav film of 2023
I rewatched Dune: Part I then saw Dune: Part II in theaters.
I just watched the premiere of X-Men ‘97 earlier on Disney+ and Invincible Season 2 on Prime.
Last month I saw Argylle and Madame Web, both were meh.
Davy should send those postcards to the Monsters Den members now that he said he’ll never send them to anyone (1:02:00)
Been watching lots of Vincent Price lately, including some I’ve never seen

I wonder who Dan described movies to before he joined the monster's den😅
Was that Jamie turning off all the TV's after Kentucky lost?
Yes. My brackets are now busted. Plus, it was time to wrap up and go to bed.
Jamie reminds me of the comedian Gallagher.
You know, I actually think his voice and delivery is more like Gallagher. Plus, all the props...
But yeah, I'd have to say I agree.
🍉
Who's excited for Alien Romulus?? 😎

What happend to Rich Catino? I hope its not health related
He's fine - just always busy when we're taping. He's invited every time in the group chat!
Are you guys going to review the new " Godzilla x Kong The New Empire " movie when it comes out next Friday March 29th?
La Piedad
I watched Monster's Den...
2001 the Horsemen
i saw the new Dune in theaters…not bad, but my middle aged ass had to get up to piss 3 times out of
Heard Night Swim was horrid...but my wife and I wanna see it...also the new Omen prequel
It's not worth it. A movie with zero substance.
Chris is a perpetual child
Blood moon was a good movie.
