    Aside from Iraq, Blair oversaw the introduction of laws which started the erosion of civil liberties in the UK.
    These laws have not been repealed, indeed they are being added to.
    I consider him more authoritarian than democrat, and the media keeps him alive with the oxygen of publlicity.

      He is a master-puppeteer / mouthpiece of the global elite! Despite his war crimes, he became a "Sir Tony Blair"... his reward for faithfully fulfilling the orders of the global military order's agenda (i.e.: to progressively assist in our reversion back to slaves/captives/bonds ... just like ancient times) during his tenure as PM. It's so insidious. It's all about global debt. All 56 UN/IMF-participating nations are being Corps-oratised as 'sicut cadavers'. Look up the 'Cestui Que Vie Act, 1666', never repealed.

      which laws?

    • @Kavala76
      @Kavala76 8 днів тому

      @@birdstrikes Blair was PM from 1997 to 2007. During this time the UK introduced:
      1. 1997 - The Police Act, included powers to intercept communications.
      2. 2000 - The Terrorism Act, allows 7 days' detention without charge. Section 44 allows Stop and Search with no "reasonable suspicion".
      3. 2000 - The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, allows the government full surveillance powers of all kinds of communication.
      4. 2001 - The Anti-Terrorism Crime and Security Act, allows indefinite detention without trial for non-British nationals suspected of committing terrorist offences
      5. 2003 - Criminal Justice Act, abrogated double jeopardy in cases with "new and compelling evidence". Extended detention without trial to 14 days.
      6. 2004 - Civil Contingencies Act, allows the government, in an "emergency", to deploy armed forces during peacetime. Also property can be sequestrated.
      7. 2005 - Serious Organised Crime and Police Act, created an offence of inciting religious hatred. Also requires notification for protests within 1km of Parliament.
      8. 2005 - Prevention of Terrorism Act, allows the Home Secretary to impose control orders on any British citizen.
      9. 2006 - Terrorism Act, extended detention without trial to 28 days.
      I trust I've made my point.

    A lesser-known part of Tony Blair's legacy that has once been explained to me is that after his terms as Prime Minister, he was engaged by Nursultan Nazarbayev to basically help improve Kazakhstan's finances. The result was massive capital flight, financial problems for Kazakhstan, and a notable increase of Mr Blair's (and probably his associates') bank account(s) on the Virgin Islands (or a similar location). Now this was presented as probably Mr Nazarbayev's biggest mistake during his long time as Kazakhstan's President (keep in mind that after the fall of the USSR, this was the only country of the 12 that were in the Union till the end that didn't experience a massive demographic and economic loss through poverty and/or (civil) war - usually Mr Nazarbayev knew what he was doing better than his peers). Put bluntly, Kazakhstan at the time needed German engineers, not English bankers. But the implication remains: Mr Nazarbayev should have known not to hire a villain, ergo, Mr Blair as a villain was a known quantity at the time to those who paid close enough attention.

    Villain. No question about it. A lot of people think that Iraq is Blair's worst mistake - but as bad as that was, the main issue with his time in power is the huge damage he did to the institutions of the UK : the legal reforms(the Supreme Court), education, the common purpose training which has infected most of the businesses, charities and organisations of the UK, PFI deals, etc. These changes were very radical and moved the UK towards the kind of authoritarian Neoliberal culture it exists under now. It never got the media coverage that it deserved whilst Blair was in power.
