    When you have low porosity hair and u use pure Shea butter and you go to school the next day and your hair is waxy greasy and still wet....

    So agree with styling on damp hair. I always felt leave ins penetrate my hair best when damp vs soaking wet. Also last summer experimenting with wash and go techniques and products, I found my best results were when my hair was damp. I thought I was crazy because this went against all the natural hair advice. I’m learning to just listen to my hair.🤷🏽‍♀️

      Yep! The first few times you style on damp hair after you’re so used to doing it on soaking wet feels so weird lol

    When I spoke to a professional about the soaking wet hair, from what I remember, she said it doesn't let the products penetrate cause it's soaked with water. So amber knows what she's on about

      I heard that its hard for low porosity hair to absorb moistures and shit so u lock it in with the LCO method aso in fact u should do it with pretty wet hair

    • @FinallyAmber
      @FinallyAmber  5 років тому +24

      ThatModelChick14 Aussie is one of those brands that I love to hate lol Them silicones are the devil but so I can’t use it on my hair... but it’s sooo cheap and smells so good! I still use it on my wigs! Lol

    • @Asia.Persuasia
      @Asia.Persuasia 5 років тому +9

      The Aussie moist gave my hair moisture overload. My hair became mushy, stretchy, it took almost three days to dry, and it made my scalp super itchy. It's definitely not a conditioner you can use often. I only use it if my hair has been out in the sun all day or I've had my hair flat ironed for a while- basically for emergencies when my hair is too dehydrated.

    • @ThatModelChick14
      @ThatModelChick14 5 років тому +6

      AsiaPersuasia what ! I need to look into moisture and protein overload because if I had either one I probably wouldn’t know. I’m still learning but her and other videos definitely help.

    So glad I found your page. I've been natural for 8 years now and I didn't even know what porosity was, let alone me having low porosity. I just thought I'd have to suffer with styles that got frizzy after a day for the rest of my life. And maybe now I can let it grow out instead of just cutting it all the time after a certain length. Going to check out the rest of your low porosity playlist now so I can find products and techniques that could work for me. Thanks cousin!!

    I’m going to experiment with doing my hair on damp hair. I’ve learned to add my leave in and let it sit for a while and let it absorb. My hair is softer, and moisturized as heck. Then go into my styling products. *Not the shea butter cousin 🤣

    If this won’t on point! I’ve been playing with my hair and like you said the hair routines can be seasonal. I achieve better results working on dry hair in the summer and wet hair in the winter due to the strange weather we have in VA. I love how you used Mars in the clips😂

    Your video is on point! I have noticed that my hair is low to normal porosity from the crown back and low porosity from the crown forward. I have two different techniques to apply products for those sections. The back works great with soaking wet hair but the front needs to be damp and shingled to style. I add a little water as needed to help products penetrate and move down the shaft. It took a few months of being natural and learning my hair to recognize one technique would not work for my entire head. Thanks for the video cousin. Much appreciated as always! ❤🙂

    I always considered myself a low porosity girl cause my hair didn't stay moisturized while using shea moisture products but I guess I have normal hair and just needed a better product. Ever since I switched to camille rose naturals my hair has been thriving since I started styling in the shower, wash n go's, braid out, etc. And I've been retaining moisture and length surprisingly. However, I definitely have to take a stroll outside for the lovely florida sun to dry it nicely, soaking wet or damp, my hair takes about 2 seasons of The Walking Dead to dry🤣🤣 love you cousin!! Keep up the quality content

    Yes ma’am!!! ALL of this here Cousin!!! I learned ALL of these the hard way...trial and error. I had to stop doing my wash n go’s on soaking wet hair cuz 1-2 days of dry time honey ain’t nobody got time for that! And the heavy products too. When I first did my Big Chop I mainly used Shea Moisture products and one of my “holy grail” products at the time was the Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie. My hair never stayed moisturized. I was at the beginning of my journey and didn’t know any better.

    I just recently found out I have low porosity hair and I totally agree with styling with damp versus soaking wet hair. I used to do that back in the day, then I had started with the soaking since so many ppl were saying how great their hair was but I didn't see it when I tried it several times. So last time I washed I styled with mousse (which I also found out works good with low porosity hair) and my curls were definitely tighter and more defined. And they lasted longer. Still learning what's working for me but love this video, very informative.

    Hey Cuz, I'm feeling you on the wet hair, I learn real quick my low porosity hair do not like to be soak and wet, even if the product suggests it, I don't do it. I have a hair check after wash day. How moisturize, soft, smooth, shiney and bouncy it is daily to see how well it's retaining moisture being low porosity. I use products that are light in consistency so the greasy level is low.

    Love this!! Over the past few months, I've loved reverting back to the basics, but elevating them-- replacing water with an aloe/glycerin mix; sticking with a trusty thinner cream/thicker cream combo & layering them; and using penetrating ayurvedic oils, like a fenugreek-infused grapeseed/avocado mix. Also, recognizing that I and many others have low-po shafts but hi-po *ends*. So sealing the shaft with oils, but the ends with shea butter, is what keeps the entirety of my hair moist the longest. Lol this was long but I hope it helps somebody 😭
    P.S. great tips and beautiful video, thank you!! 🙌🏽 you dropped this 👑

    What mind blowing information. I'm a little disturbed that I'm just now learning how low porosity hair effects us. Why because I'm a licensed cosmetologist. And was not taught about this at all! Oh how this changes so many things. Now I understand why when I had colored hair I got better results. Because I had damaged my hair enough to increase the porosity. 😮😩😊 a lot of feelings here lol great video

    That hair style with that makeup 🙌🏾🙌🏾. But girl what i learned from my low porosity hair is that honey is my best friend. My hair would absorb products as long as it has honey in there. Second my hair don’t do absorb well on soaking wet hair it needs to be damp or dry hair. My best wash and go comes when I apply products on dry hair. I’m still learning more about my hair

    Hey Ms. Amber, I have soo many hair products THAT DON'T WORK on my VERY low porosity hair. In fact I just purchased more today.😲 I'm out of control!👀😵 I need a "hair savior". Lololo! My hair is EXTREMELY DRY!🌵👀🌕👀😵👀nothing works. I mean nothing! Yet this bush is on top of my head🌵👀😵

    Honestly I have been nearly in tears using all these products that just sat on my hair doing nothing. It took me forever to discover heat actually does help a lot with moisture penetration.

    I thought I was low porosity but I'm actually normal and once I figured that out my hair started acting right. I use tips from both low and high porosity girls cause nobody on UA-cam is normal po

    I learned that I was low porosity when I used carols daughter and Aussie moist, and my hair was dry dry. Also when I tried to copy rice water trend and rinsing my hair with cold water after deep conditions made my hair tangle and break. Amber is soo right listen to your hair. Don’t go by UA-cam alone!! ❤️❤️

    Girl it's all about trial and error...I have different porosity levels in my hair and it's so frustrating because my low porosity areas take FOREVER to dry whereas my high porosity areas dry faster!!

    Ever since I started doing my hair in the shower it’s retained moisture a lot better and I no longer feel the need to use raw oils to seal. To each their own tho 🤷🏽‍♀️

    I have low porosity hair. I make my own flaxseed gel. I use rice water every other week ( 5 days, no product, I braid it at night, take it out during the day and I do onion treatments 2x/mo. ) I have a water filter shower head ( made all the difference in the world because I believe that water quality is a huge part of our hair health! ) and sundays are my wash days. Grapeseed and Argan oil is what I use ( very lightly. Just enough to coat my hands, a half of a pea size each, or sometimes I'll just use one oil. You'll have to judge for yourself. ) I dont use silk scarves, they're a pain in the a*s, I have a silk pillow case instead. I dont work with my hair when its wet, only slightly damp. I dont use any heat of any kind on my hair UNLESS it's a special occasion, or MAYBE once or twice/yr. My hair is thin as far as my strands ( mom is white, dad is black ), but I have a LOT of hair. It would be considered 4c, MAYBE 3c. Hope this helps my fellow sisters on their natural hair journey! Shalom!

    Thanks for this video Amber. I thought I was low porosity because of the strand test but my hair didn’t act completely like it was low porosity so I’m thinking that it is a mix of normal and low.?I’ve been watching you videos and though my hair cooperates best with twist outs I’ve taken your advice and stop using heavy products and not using too many. Thanks again 😊
