He explains messing up, when he just messed up. He describes what he just did, but no one else even knew.
I saw a few of the moves like the double lift before the card jump and such, but his slight of hand is unparalleled. You can just tell that he has a working knowledge of every card position in the deck and could honestly do some of these tricks blindfolded, it's basically like keys on a piano for him.
You can tell he wanted somebody to pick 7 and when nobody did he had to keep going until he somehow got to that number. That was an example of him "keeping the trick going" like he talked about.

"How are you keeping track when you shuffle where it is in the deck?" David just smiled there cuz that is the core secret of the trick. Most ppl think shuffle is random, but magicians do know where a certain card will be in the deck. It takes years of practice to do that, amazing.
That right there is the reason I want to be a magician. To laugh when people ask me how I did it instead of providing an answer.

The actual trick is ridiculously so simple, he just has great performance
It's like a comedy set. His timing is really important and well paced
What's funny is how during 3 card monte he did exactly what they end up talking about in the interview and they literally have no idea...! The beauty of what he does is that he always has an out, or conclusion to adapt the trick to the outcome of the input his subjects give him..

Dude I been doing this trick to people forever and then he puts this twist at the end and I'm like WTF.
Bhavikh It happens about 80% of the time. And that comes from experience
Ok so, to answer her question at 4:54 :
The first hard part of the trick is at 4:25 - camera moves so we miss it, but somehow he palms the Jack to the top of the deck (but he makes it look like the Jack is going into the middle of the deck)
At 4:35 he does the double lift, then you can easily see him thumb the top card (Jack of Clubs) to the bottom of the deck at 4:37 (the shuffle just after doesn't affect the bottom card)
The second hard part is around 4:47, the one handed cut. After he makes the the cut, he uses his forefinger to seperate the bottom card out from the now top half of the deck (right as he says, "One card comes out") which he then shoots over to complete the trick !

It’s a simple trick. He put the 7s in his hands initially and then influenced the other folks in the room to guess 7s
I totally can see when I did that... then led them to say 7... but amazingly quick and smooth

Pretty sure he controlled it to the top, cut the deck with a pinky break, and then did a one handed cut from the pinky break. Even though I could do the trick (except for the one handed cut because small hands), he took the trick farther than most variations I’ve seen and created a different story, which makes it really fun to watch
