Wow I didn't know he was a shapeshifter too! 🤭 I remember watching him on TV with my parents as a kid, now I've introduced his insane feats to my children and they're amazed as well.
Jonathan Guzman facts. He‘s one of the most insane humans to just watch. Also he‘s more than just dedicated. If you think about his own words, that he still never leaves his room without a deck of cards. So that’s juat „normal“ for him. He would annoy you all day all the time to help him improve his tricks. He‘s a basically the perfect modern magician🤷🏼♂️
Very chill but extremely charismatic during his shows. He brings a lot of humor to this stage show. It really is incredible if you get a chance to see him live.
To be a really good close-up magician you have to be an actor, good with sleight-of hand, good with audience management, good with misdirection, use psychology, good with pocket management, good with trick selection, good with your patter, good with your rapport with people. The better you do these things the better magician you are. David is excellent at all these, that's what makes him one of the best close-up magicians out there.
I'm no magician but I have eyes and a laptop that can go through videos frame by frame. Even though he did weird things with the cards like turning them over a few times, I still can't catch any sleight of hand to switch the cards
That's ok, Ryan Sundoto, that's what free thinkers do, we do the thinking for those that are too lazy to do their own. Keep looking beyond the facade. You're looking in all the obvious places. Look at when he gives the card with the name written on it, he first puts it in the pile of cards, then flips the cards, and gives him a different card (the one with the writing on it is still on his deck), and he asks to put a finger on it so that he doesn't feel the urge to flip the card (because it's the wrong card), and then he bamboozles him/us by saying that "the ink won't get on your hand". He's putting cards on tops of cards, but lines them up so precisely, while he's distracting you with non-sense talking. Just watch the flipping of cards, pretty easy tricks if you are a smooth talker as he is.
I'm sure people can figure out how he does many of his tricks, but to pull them off without a hitch every time is as amazing as the magic itself. Then you have his endurance stuff, his frog and fish stunts, dragon fire etc....some of which really would kill just about any other human on this planet if attempted. The only other person I think of in this league is Alex Honnold...but Alex is really easy to figure out that there is no trick--he's just the most amazing athlete in the world.
Alex is the bravest athlete in the world. There are plenty of climbers who could physically do what Alex does, but they don’t because they aren’t as brave or reckless. The best climber in the world is Adam Ondra. The highest graded route that Alex has ever done (9a), with a rope of course, is less difficult that the hardest route Adam has climbed on his first attempt (9a+). He sure is pretty amazing, but there are also other amazing guys out there. Eliud Kipchoge has run a sub 2-hour marathon. That’s pretty amazing.
The image of a child carrying around a deck of cards all the time and even sleeping with it, that is so... so adorable. Also “you made magic cool” um excuse me?? Magic was always cool! It’s the coolest thing! What are you talking about?
the thing with DB that make him standout then the rest magician, is the way he never stop practice to put the presentation so neat, so attractive even to the strangest person he just met, that way he can get the best reaction of them, that way no one can tell when he failed coz he'd continue smoothly until he somehow did finish the trick, amazing ...
@@hoxhabunker8407 I re-watched that piece 8:02 and confused. I thought he asked her what numbers she will pick up, but looks like she just took a picture? Not sure now what exactly happened.
SPOILER: The slight of hand at 5 mins or so is super classic, called the double lift, Trick starts when he puts the RANCE card on the deck, the deck is upside down in his hand, totally unnatural, but it's because there's a face up eight of clubs. "No the other hand"; it's a distraction, he wedges his finger under the deck, to perform the "double lift". When he lifts the RANCE card he actually flips two cards, that and the 8 of clubs, so the card he puts in Rance's hand is the 8 of clubs. He tells him to put his finger on it to confirm, this is the RANCE card he can't move it now, I've got my finger on it! Then there's a second eight of clubs 1 card below the RANCE card, (which still remains at the top of the deck) which he double lifts again to show it's in the deck, but that's a double. When he finally exposes the RANCE card he dosn't double lift. you see he quickly burried the duplicate 8 of clubs right after the guy was done touching it, and asks the other guy to shuffle --- to make sure he dosn't get caught.
I re-watched the last few seconds of this video about 10 times, I was very impressed how David is just casually standing there flicking cards back and forth with the kind of accuracy that's like a one in a million shot for me 😂
Why do some people feel the need to explain or break down the illusion. Just go along for the ride and enjoy the entertanment. We all know it's not real, but it is fun to see.
Its not sleight of hand. When he flipped the dudes queen over it was actually two cards and the deck has 2 8s so when he put the card in the dudes hand it was the second 8 and he always had the signed card
They gave away that she was asked to choose a 4 digit number before, so basically he knew the number and pushed them the cards. Pretty obvious, you see David cringe when they said that.
As a practitioner since the 90s I dont think that was a huge give away to common spectator since theyre still puzzled on how it turned out even if those cards were forced
6:36 - “…just make sure…” I assume I’m watching him set the trick up, right in front of my eyes, but I still don’t understand what he did. He lifted one card from about the middle and moved it over closer to David’s left side of the deck. But I’m not sure what that was for!
They are already in on it .. see at 4:26 , then at last he mentions how they already knew the numbers before hand . His job was only to make them pick from deck of cards , Which is very impressive..

I have figure out the trick, look when he take the queen of hearts from the guy and when he release it back he place it in the dack he has in his hand and turn it over with the two other cards.....so back in his mind he knows he has the queen of hearts and the guy has the other card,to make sure that the card won't be revieled he told him to put one finger on the card. Then whatch how he quickly turn the card in his hand by turning two cards and take the queen of hearts on top.but he does it very quick
he got 2 8 of clubs and the signed card and when he showed he was actually fliping the first 8 with the signed card at the same time, then he put the first club of 8 in his hand, flip the signed with the second 8 then pretended to swipe them in that fast motion
If you slow it down, you'll see that he switches the red card to the clubs before placing it on the guy's palm. He has two 8 of clubs cards in the deck and placed one the the guys palm and then after the switch, he moved the red card on top of the other 8 of clubs already in the deck. You have to slow it down to catch it. He is really good.
