Don't forget to use the water from soaking the wakame for your garden (as long as you are using dried, not salted wakame) for all the nutrients that the plants love~!
Wow I've been eating this for years and I had no idea about the agar strips. I just assumed they were another part of the seaweed plant. Thanks for this video :)
Oh so good 😋 I am so happy I found your recipe. Thank you! All that time I spent at the market trying to find ingredients I know nothing about paid of, cuz it was super tasty. I forgot to get the Korean red pepper powder so I used garlic powder instead. Other mods: no sesame oil just sesame seeds, I used organic stevia instead of sugar, & I used Coconut Aminos instead of soy sauce.
Thank you so much for posting this step by step recipe. This is the best I have found for sure. I found a 1lb wakame on amazon for $35 with sign-up plant to ship every 6 months (cheapest I could find) and agar on ebay.
I first ate this salad in a restaurant many years ago and loved it, but didn't love the sugar in it. Now I've discovered Xylitol and will definitely make this salad at home so we can enjoy it again. Thanks!!!
I never would have thought of using wood ear. This is like a surf-and-turf salad! I like the idea of adding the texture of wood ear fungus to sea weed. Just a head's up, I tried this using dried wakame. That stuff seems expensive, but when you rehydrate it, it gets ALOT bigger, like ten times the dry bulk.
I just bought a bottle of vegan fish sauce bc I saw fish sauce in a artificially green salad ;) is that ok to use? Thanks I loved finding your recipe. oh and do you use the sea grape things.. so salty but love the texture.
I had no idea wakame was so good for you. Definitely going to give it a try. Definitely using the agar strips too. I'm a pretty big guy and a skimpy salad probably wouldn't do much for me by itself. Thanks for the recipe!
Thank you so much for sharing this video. Right at the end you tell us about how food dye is added to this and I was wondering where to buy this....lol now I know when I buy it from the sushi bar it has dye in it....hmmm I do love it....but my body could do without the dye. Looks awesome will try making this. :)
Can't find agar (kanten) so I use rice vermicelli. I also add some finely julienned English cucumber. Love your series, looking forward to you next one.
I don't really have all the ingredients, but tonight Imma throw a simple vinaigrette together over some wakame. I want to thank you for that part about the commercial salad, cus I was frustrated when my wakame didn't look the same as it.
Please tell me why the Wakame in yours looks like leaves, but the one frozen prepackaged is thin strips? Is there a way to do this? I don't really like the leafy texture but I love the frozen seaweed salad, would like to make it at home. Is it really Wakame Seaweed?
***** Thanks so much for replying!!! I went and made this salad now, I haven't tasted it yet it's setting in the fridge. I don't know how to use Google+ are these the stems? I only speak english and have no idea what it all looks like plus.google.com/u/0/100228722163449632030/posts so hopefully you can see the picture?
I always wondered why the bright green col !!!! ?.. Thank you... I am looking to reduce al sugar from my diet...I want to try this recipe minus the sugar...where is the best place t9 purchase the dried seaweed?
+Jewelle Williams There's dozens of different types. It's like different kinds of lettuce and cabbage. Whether or not you can grab shit straight from the beach is entirely dependent on where you live and how clean the water is there.
I was WONDERRRRINGGGGG where to buy Wakame Seaweed!! All along it was right under my nose shopping at the market!!! , lol. Thank you for this vid. Now I can make this at home :-)

Yes, it's really healthy. Especially in Asian countries, we eat this almost every two to three days. Either in soup, salad and in recipes and so on.
Looks delicious and can't wait to try. What can you serve this with? TIA

So the strips are Wakame Stems, which are difficult to find as I myself are looking for them.

So hi are there different types of seaweed or are they all the same......can you use the seaweed straight from the sea shore?
+Jewelle Williams There's dozens of different types. It's like different kinds of lettuce and cabbage. Whether or not you can grab shit straight from the beach is entirely dependent on where you live and how clean the water is there.
