@PDTV.Official "Battered Women's Shelter"?? I haven't heard that term in maybe decades and for good reason, it's outdated and offensive and you are part of the problem.

The way that woman broke down when she saw them carry away Edwin’s body was heartbreaking. Despite their traumatic circumstances, all those women and children trusted him with their lives and cared enough to remember him by name. 😔

He helped show these women and the kids that not all men are evil and that many will protect women with their lives such as he did. I say this as face as my dad was part of an underground women's rescue that get women and kids to safety when they are in a abusive sitition. He's over 6 foot and will not hestate to knock someone out when someone hurts a woman. Also a part of what my parents did during their time with the 'underground' was offer their house to the pets of the women. as many won't leave their pets behind. My parents gave the pets a safe home until the women were able to pick them up. A few times we did end up with the pets as our own but each of those times the owner told us that they may not be able to come back for their pets which didn't mean that they did love them they just felt that they couldn't give them the best care. We did get money from the few that didn't come back for their pets every month so they did still care.

If this was real life, I would say it had to be an emergency responder or law enforcement. They are the only people besides employees that are allowed to know where the domestic violence shelters are located.

Unless someone caught wind of it. When they get you hooked up with a job sometimes things can slip out to coworkers and you just hope it doesn't come to anything if they don't know better a abuser can come to where you work if they see you and pretend to be a friend when you aren't around and ask where the person is living now it's such a scary thing now

They’re the only people allowed to know, sure. But that doesn’t mean the information can’t somehow get out to people who normally wouldn’t know. Disgusting as it is, when women run away from abusive households, you wouldn’t believe the lengths people will go to in order to track them down and bring them back, willingly or not

When I was little, about eight, my mom took my little sister, older brother and I on a "spontaneous trip" in the middle of the night, it wasn't until much later when I was older that the house we stayed at for the week was a hidden safe house.
Last Thursday was my mom's first day at her new job, she works for them now and even got to meet the woman who answered her call and found a placement for us that night.
It's infuriating that they have to exist, yes, but we are blessed to have so many caring people who are willing to put their safety on the line for others like my family and I.

I worked in a charity shop until last year and reflected that in an ideal world, such shops wouldn't need to exist. I agree that whilst it is a tragedy that charity shops, food banks and women's shelters have to exist, be glad that they do exist to provide that desperately needed help.
