Rock will never truly die. Rock is in the state of modernizing. It's constantly evolving and it's in an awkward place right now, but it will eventually find it's way back into the mainstream. People eventually get tired of hearing Pop, Rap, and Hip Hop. That's what happened in the 80's and 90's. We still have Rock-ish artists like The 1975, Cage The Elephant, Young The Giant, Mac DeMarco, and more, but they aren't quite "hard rock". Rock is still very much alive and out there though. We just need more heavier bands.
