I would say the unstoppable guys offensively( everything accounted for even without freethrows) are Joel, Luka, KD, Kyrie, Kawhi, Jokic, (Curry & Lebron then, still good though), the surprise is Shai,Jalen Brunson, Tatum(eh). Those guys can score in every single way, pass good, and on offense just elite.
The peak of NBA offense is now because the Hell depths of NBA defense is now. Put Jordan, Kobe, AI, KG, Shaq, etc in this era and it's a wrap. Sh***t.... put good, lesser celebrated players like Tim Hardaway, Mahmoud, Reggie, Grant, TMAC, etc, today, and they would get buckets. Today's rules punish good defense and today's game plans have given up defense & defensive rebounding in favor of 3's and fast offense. And the players don't put in the same effort as before. Luka, KD, JJ Reddick & others have spoken on this too. When Luka said it's easier to score here than in Europe, that's because of defense. The offensive sets here are so much simpler here because the defense has become non existent here. I respect today’s players. But if anyone thinks that 80s, 90s & early 2000s players who were also stronger, couldn't drop 50, 60 or even 80 today, you're trippin
The players of the past would also be great in this era, but they wouldn't be way ahead of the best players today, they'd be pretty equal. But I do think there's *more* really good/great offensive players today than in any past era. Jordan would be the GOAT in any era though, assuming he had that great team and coach around him still.
The peak of the NBA was in the 90's and early 00's. I like scoring but too much like now isnt fun to watch. Need defense and physcial play again. Games feels like all star games.
The truth was in todays era the offense are evolving. Ex. Luka doncic he has so many counter moves to counter his defender. Luka has high iq and knows how to used his body. He also have the ability to accelerate and decelerate to confused hus defender.
If you watched the Lakers vs Bulls game two days ago this is exactly what happened. 😂 A trash shooting team like the Lakers had pretty much everyone scoring double digits (including Vando who averages like 4 ppg) and shot 60+% from the field and 65% from 3.
Defense now is much more complicated and advanced than what it was in the 90s. Look at a 90s defensive scheme looks like a childs drawing. Today's defensive schemes look like unsolved math equations. It's magnitudes more complicated than just holding a guy down like back in the day.
When jordan played, how many people of the starting 5 could shoot? Pg’s couldn’t, some centers were ok at it, pf’s couldn’t. Nowadays, all 5 positions can hit a shot.

While discussing the subject for breeding babies to be tall basketball players someone suggested WNBA and NBA players marrying each other came up. That has not happened and never will because of two factors. 1) A substantial percentage of WNBA players are NOT heterosexual 2) Of the WNBA players who are heterosexual only a small percentage of them possess the beauty the rich NBA players gravitate towards such as models, IG influencers, etc. The higher level of testosterone their bodies possess tend to give a lot of them a more masculine look
I'd probably agree more with the argument that talent and skill has made today's players more potent scorers than ever and not just the rules if team USA kept scoring more and more in international competitions. They're not, so I think it's moreso the rules. Also, after having looked through all the international games when I was actually looking into it, never let Steve Kerr or Pop ever touch team usa again. Please use only college coaches cause the NBA coaches after '96 have been absolute garbage
Y’all crazy, it’s not just defense… The offense in the league is WAY better. Go back and watch someone like Dennis Rodman, key part of a dominant championship franchise, he could BARELY score. Now guys who have his current job are hitting reverse layups and threes, it’s a little of both, but it’s very tiring hearing people say it’s all bad defense, because it’s just not true.
Players are better overall today. Not the top-10 or so players from the 90s, those players would be great in any era, as would the top-10 players today... but overall there's more really excellent players today than ever before. The top 4 or 5 players of today are unbelievably great players. That said, MJ would be the GOAT in any era, but give me Jokic over Malone all day, and give me Luka over Dominique all day everyday.
the fact that KAT got 60+ LOL... just shows how shit this eras defense. When defense was played in 2016 all star.... we saw how everyone struggled to score...... its just defense that is lacking.
You can’t play defense when all 5 positions on the court can score from anywhere, dribble and pass and it’s not the fact that defense got worse it’s just the offense has evolved so much since the 80s/90s that you really can’t stop anybody from scoring
These guys are too good. The floor has risen. In the 80’s and early 90’s. The second tier players of those days were not talented. Jamal Murray is a second tier guard and he legit a superstar in other era but this one.
Compared to decades past, defense has been eliminated. Physicality has been removed. While players have become more skilled. The European Big Man skillset has been embraced in the NBA.
Sports evolve. There are ebbs and flows. The pace and scoring in the NBA in the 60s and 70s was very high. They trended downwards during the 90s and into the early 00s, due in part to a diluted talent pool with six expansion teams, changing coaching philosophy, and a myriad of other factors. Pace and scoring have ascended again for the past 10-15 years due to analytics, increased skill and shooting ability across positions, rule changes, influx of international talent, etc. Which style and era one prefers is subjective. In baseball, there was the dead ball era, live ball era, integration, raised mound, steroid era, analytic-HR-or-SO era with pitchers being more dominant and playing fewer innings.
I don't get how people don't realize what the league used to be david robinson had 3 50+ games and scored 71 with no 3's I need to get in on some of these debates lol
Joe Cool. It was 48 %. Maybe you could've won in 2005. But Jerry Stackhouse put you on the injury-list. He received a flagrant foul type 1 from the dangerous free path defensive play. Which means Jerry was allowed to play in the next game. Giannis wouldn't have a ring, if the rules were just. You should be on Gil's arena as a guest.
But which rules exactly is hampering defenses; not being able to land in a shooters landing spot? The Stat that defines defense is contested shot, meaning a player is within 3-6 feet when a player shoots. So what rule is stopping players from contesting shots? The % has dropped every year.

it's more that players shoot better so you gotta close the space wich gives the oportunity to drive and also it's less physical but when you say there's no defence that's just not true
@@simoelmeddiki3259 i said the defensive presence is at a all time low. Not that it didn’t exist. Referees dictate the way the fouls are called. And Adam silver himself admitted he caters to the offense for ratings. They do shoot better but there is a conservative effort to just dismiss defense. You seen Lukas 73??
You basically only have to make eye contact with a player to be called for a foul
If they let hand checks they wouldn’t score as high. But I feel like everyone’s so athletic now it’s just like if I play d imma get crossed up or injure myself possibly. I think that’s the mindset. They’re just tryna do cardio and get played until the playoffs when they feel like defense actually matters.
No not at all, drives have increased and free throws have dropped. Threes aren’t even being made like that , everyone can shoot
Let's bring back some real defenders like a Rodman, Ben Wallace, Tony Allen, Ron Artest, etc. By then we'll see if this is really the "peak offense" of basketball.
Don’t take all Ben Wallace rebounds away from him. It’s different guarding guys with a complete counter package.
😢
SMH the reason the ofense exploded its cause teams understand spacing better the players u are talking about would get killed in the perimeter there isnt enough 1v1 opportunities for the likes of Tony Allen to sit down and lock people.
they will foul out 1st half
Only artest will survive in this league cause he can score in the post and hit the 3. Rodman and Wallace are like Andre Drummond
They called Luka fat and he scored 73 😂
Lmao 😂💯
Facts bro they silent them boys jokers
Fat boy fat boys whatchya gon do, whatchya gon do with he puts that 73 burger on YOU
Fat boy is a product of excessive alcohol consumption combined with a plurality of fatty Slovenian sausages and cigars.
He was salty about the fan and journalist, so he went nutso. Embiid is not the primary playmaker, so his 70 was in the flow of the game. Luka was on his MJ revenge shyt without the defense.
He was salty about the fan and journalist, so he went nutso. Embiid is not the primary playmaker, so his 70 was in the flow of the game. Luka was on his MJ revenge shyt, which I respect, but unlike MJ he’s not going to take a vacation on defense to give you 50 plus.
Truly indeed.
There is a rumor some dude scored 1000 in 38 minutes...on cones and a bucket.
All lay ups,no threes.
Amazing.
Facts 😂
Did you count his free throws? Because he took several.
The peak of the NBA was in the 90's and early 00's. I like scoring but too much like now isnt fun to watch. Need defense and physcial play again. Games feels like all star games.
That shxt wasn’t peak basketball 😂 This is peak basketball right now
@@curtiszyrthis shit ain’t no peak basketball when the fuck is the defense??
@@curtiszyrbot
Around 01 02 03 was peak
The truth was in todays era the offense are evolving.
Ex. Luka doncic he has so many counter moves to counter his defender.
Luka has high iq and knows how to used his body.
He also have the ability to accelerate and decelerate to confused hus defender.
I wanna see for 1 game a team do no closeouts , just bait to shoot and see what happens , i wonder if 50% fg would happen or itd be 65%
If you watched the Lakers vs Bulls game two days ago this is exactly what happened. 😂 A trash shooting team like the Lakers had pretty much everyone scoring double digits (including Vando who averages like 4 ppg) and shot 60+% from the field and 65% from 3.
K mart be looking crazy when R. McCants get talking 🤣🤣🤣
I swear dawg😂😂😂😂😂😂
He be saying dumb shit.

He really don’t like dude ass
Excellent talk, love yall
Someone tell imbiid next time he has a record night, dont sit out the 4th quarter.
he said "let me just keep my" lol
If this is the peak of offense, what is the defense called right now? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Defense now is much more complicated and advanced than what it was in the 90s. Look at a 90s defensive scheme looks like a childs drawing. Today's defensive schemes look like unsolved math equations. It's magnitudes more complicated than just holding a guy down like back in the day.
The rock bottom of defense
@@PayAttEx Defense starts from effort. Nobody in this league has any, so we don't get to the math-part, and that part doesn't matter.

When jordan played, how many people of the starting 5 could shoot? Pg’s couldn’t, some centers were ok at it, pf’s couldn’t. Nowadays, all 5 positions can hit a shot.

It’s fun to watch nowadays with all the 3s but I would rather watch less points and more aggressive defense. More entertaining
Delusional. 18 year old Lebron would average 40 in the 90s
@@moneymoney3235No Lebron wouldnt. 18 year old Lebron was more inefficient than 40 year old Wizards Jordan. Ironically, 40 year old Jordan played only 1 season (2003) before Lebron.
If you reference the 2000s, Kobe was much better than Lebron
@@moneymoney3235Kobe was also better than Lebron during the 2000s. Even the story of the redeem team has Kobe demolishing Lebron 1 on 1, then leading in the 2008 Olympics where,Lebron failed

@KnucklesWTD-uu3ps Lol what? They thought Jordan was a physical freak. You're telling me they were ready for a 6'9ft, 270lbs+, 44in vert, near magic Johnson playmaking, and moves like 92% of MJs speed? What are you smoking? LeBrons ability to blow past, jump over, or run through defenders would have made him a monster.
While discussing the subject for breeding babies to be tall basketball players someone suggested WNBA and NBA players marrying each other came up.
That has not happened and never will because of two factors.
1) A substantial percentage of WNBA players are NOT heterosexual
2) Of the WNBA players who are heterosexual only a small percentage of them possess the beauty the rich NBA players gravitate towards such as models, IG influencers, etc. The higher level of testosterone their bodies possess tend to give a lot of them a more masculine look
We need European rules in the nba now
euro basket is raining threes too
Rashard is so brilliant when he's not arguing.
🤷♂️He called it😂😂😂
Chad Johnson bout to pull up like "I been tryna tell y'all but y'all ain't listening"

Prime Wilt would score 120 points right now.
Is this a like a an insult or what cause he will in any era 😂😂
No he wouldn’t 🤣🤣🤣
Shaq would have 60 and 30 a night if he was the only offense.
teams would force wilt to be a shooter from the outside since they couldnt stop him on the inside
Gil be sounding crazy today’s defense they hold they hands up nd let u go around them
I'd probably agree more with the argument that talent and skill has made today's players more potent scorers than ever and not just the rules if team USA kept scoring more and more in international competitions. They're not, so I think it's moreso the rules. Also, after having looked through all the international games when I was actually looking into it, never let Steve Kerr or Pop ever touch team usa again. Please use only college coaches cause the NBA coaches after '96 have been absolute garbage
MCcants said the next generation is gonna be lethal and lightskin I'm crying😂😂😂😂😂
He not lying lol 😂
I love defense💯 now I see people like ah walkin cone🤦🏾♂️
You can’t guard anybody either my guy . You can’t even gaurd guys at your local court stfu 😂
No defense. Miss the 90’s
K-Mart and Rashad got it right again. There’s more old Phoenix/Dallas squads living and dying by the 3
It's becoming unwatchable. It would be impressive if they were doing it in a league that played defense.

the fact that KAT got 60+ LOL... just shows how shit this eras defense. When defense was played in 2016 all star.... we saw how everyone struggled to score...... its just defense that is lacking.

You need to accept the fact, that players are getting worse.

I really do feel bad for Brandon. Dude was a absolute beast before his injury. He would most likely still be in the league right now.
AND everyone just playing, basically, ZERO serious defense.
That helps, too.
Travels and carrying the basketball aren't called, which helps, too.
You can’t play defense when all 5 positions on the court can score from anywhere, dribble and pass and it’s not the fact that defense got worse it’s just the offense has evolved so much since the 80s/90s that you really can’t stop anybody from scoring
Just say you don’t watch the games. Some of these guys are becoming impossible to guard

Players are far less skilled today.
European bigs only work when there is no physicality
@@vamoneygroup Not sure what that means, because Jokic is the most physical player in the league.
NBA games are garbage now, zero defense. Just unwatchable.
It’s going to see front court players able to get buckets for themselves and not be guard dependent
81+ coming soon
KD is a hooper. He knows peak basketball.
8:02 Rashad not slick 😭
I shot 47 percent from 3 in 2005 i only played with Nash 1 year we would’ve won at least 2 championship if i never left and went to Atlanta….
Joe Johnson
You can’t play defense like they use to but the fact is players are 10 times more skilled than all those old heads
Be honest. Yall dont like Luka. We like Luka more than Lebron since Luka is like Larry Bird. You dont like Luka
@lucaswalker7271 if you have to grab and hit guys you aren’t a good defender
He not mad he from the DMV he just stepped off like dis sht crazy😂😂😂 gotta b hipp
But which rules exactly is hampering defenses; not being able to land in a shooters landing spot? The Stat that defines defense is contested shot, meaning a player is within 3-6 feet when a player shoots. So what rule is stopping players from contesting shots? The % has dropped every year.
I'm out here just tryign to find where the defense in the league has gone. Both teams above 130 points in that game and nearly every game has both teams it seems north of 110 points. there's no D.
the SS would be proud of this conversation
Along with the valley of nba defense. What a coincidence!!!
I think gil is right. Its tougher to play defense, but the hand checking needs to come back. Just a lil more toughness
I don’t think it’s skill set I just think people don’t take pride in defense and/or aren’t aloud to olay sound defense
The Wizards are going to do everything to draft Gil’s son.
He’s that good.
