You did not do the RX100 IV justice. 1. It can shoot at 1,000 fps. 2. The resolutions you quoted were not even close to what it actually does. What the RX100 IV does is it keeps a higher pixel count in width than height. So at 960/1,000fps the real resolution is (1136×384); way better than the quoted "360p" which is (480×360) 3. You can shoot 4 seconds of high frame rate if you turn on "shoot time priority"; this, however, lowers the resolution even further but still different than the quoted resolutions (more pixels wide than high) 4 If you want your footage to look higher quality when you are editing it then I would suggest running it through the program "Video Enhancer". With this you can upscale your videos to 1080p, 4K, 8K, and beyond! Also you can add a smart sharpening and denoiser to make it look great. Then take your 4K (or whatever) video and compress it back down to 1080. Now it will look ALMOST like it was shot at 1080!! Seriously you should try it out for yourself.
with the RX100 there is a way to shoot more that 1000fps? lowering the resolution even more? and, there is another resolution to pick, perhaps 320x240@1000 o more fps?
No, 1000 fps is the fastest the image sensor can do. When this sensor came out for the RX100 IV and the RX10 II it was better than any other DSLR by a long shot. That was almost 2 years ago now. Sony just created a new smartphone image sensor that can shoot the same 1000fps but this time in FULL HD! We don't know when this will be released and for what phones, but it's pretty amazing what they've been able to achieve in only 2 years.
+flyguyee I actually can't say how much exactly I got it for. They generally give custom quotes since these cameras are made to order. I can say that they cost in the upper echelon of camera price points, but for good reason. They are the best cinema grade high-speed cameras available and are used in the vast majority of major films you see extreme slow motion in.
The HFR mode from Sony is known for lower quality and bitrates. From what I've seen from A7S A7R users. I would be very interested to see the regular 1080p image quality compared to the HFR modes. To really see how the quality holds up. Also, does it have a 120fps rate in regular mode at 1080p? The A7sII demonstrates that 120fps at 1080p normal, has 100mb/s data rate, and the HFR mode also has 120fps 1080p, but at like 25mb/s... it looks way worse. So I'm wondering if the RX100mkIV is similar. I'd prefer getting a better quality image at 120fps than a worse quality at 240fps... for cinematic uses at least.
+Bananas and Bass HFR compression and resolution from rx100iv and rx10ii are way better if you compare it to a7sii. It's even way better from 96p from GH4 or 120p from NX1.
Dadan Ardi Oh wow really? That's odd. Do you have comparisson videos with footage or something? I'd like to take a closer look. I wonder how the A6300 stacks up against those, since it also does 120fps cropped 1080p now
whats difference between Rx100 IV and RX10II other then price are resolutions same as far as fps and to throw into mix how does gopro4 black compare to these as well
I would say the biggest difference with GoPro is the lens. RX10iii has 24-600mm zoom which makes a huge difference in framing. GoPro would always have to stand reaaally close to the object to get impressive slomo. If far away, video often looks just flat and uninteresting, despite 240fps slomo. Additionally, fish eye effect isn't always what you might want to have in your slomo video. The advantage of GoPro is that with accessories you can attach the camera to basically anywhere and get unique and inspiring action shots.
+Joney Plays Ask your neighbours if you can help them in their yard or house. Or ask small shops if you can do some work for them. That's how I got my first job.
+Joney Plays The professional cameras often have chains of upwards of ten owners. They aren't thrown out. I am, for example, the fourth or third owner of a camera, if I recall. Go get a job, start collecting money. Maybe by the time you're thirty you'll have enough floating cash to get something like that.
A golf swing takes 2 seconds by itself so there is not enough time to turn the RX100 recording on then take a few steps away from the camera then set up to the ball & then swing or swing then rush a few steps to the camera to turn it off.
It's a shame UA-cam compression makes some of these shots look not that good.
The way the magnets attract each other looks EPIC!!!
Thank you very much for this video! :D It really helped me to pick up the sony rx100 mark iv camera for some awesome slow motion videos :D

wich smartphone can do the same???
the new Sony phone just announced has 920fps or something like that.
Hey, great informative video! I'm just a beginner in the slow motion video shooting arena. Love your channel! You inspired me to make mine. Thanks!
I really thought , watching your other videos that you where just making videos to make views but this proves me wrong
Great video
Amazing review
Great run down on this. I would love to get my hand on the Phantom for a video food series, but it is so expensive. :(
This was excellent. Thank you.
How much did you pay for that Miro?

Beyond Slow Motion BTS Well what is the price range for a Phantom Miro?
+flyguyee most people don't buy them, you would rent them out. To buy, you're looking at around a $40,000 starting point
I think they own it though. It wouldn't be worth it for them to rent it for every video.
flyguyee I have a feeling the guy who operates it is part of a company that owns one, and they use it for the videos (similar to slow-mo guys)
going to save money this year to get that RX100 :D
Are you familiar with Casio EX - F1? Shoots at high-speed and I believe 1200 ft./s ? Not a point and shoot but still pro summer
yes the nikon j2 is the same, might get one

Bananas and Bass sorry i mean the 120p, the HFR 240p and so on use the same suck bitrate and compression.
I wanna start am UA-cam channel especially for slow motion videos.which is the best cam to buy ? thanks. :))
I don't get why that point and shoot can film slow-mo while the A7 II cannot

The Sony can only record at 240fps for 2 seconds? What does 2 second buffer mean?
Should've added the Nexus 6p, it has 240fps slow motion as well.
Where can I get this magnets ?
Where did Brandon get his phantom hd gold?
thx, this was very usefull!
so what about the Sony RX100 V ?
whats his channel called??

what's with the S6 or now the S7
it's 120fps@720p
Galaxy s7 does 60fps at 1080 and 240fps at 720 but is up-scaled I believe .
What is the background music?
How much do you earn a day
Well, turns out I'm early

The phantom v711 is like $118k Like bruhh it can go up to 1,400,000 frames bruh

Boss Killer no its how many pictures it takes in a second frames per second
I'm not joking for a good Miro around 350 a day!
+Vintage Tech Dude oh yeah, to buy it would cost around $40,000 to $60,000! Pretty professional stuff there haha
+The Whiteheart I totally agree, they can get very pricey.
