Yo I know some folks who could back you up on this one. 😊
I'd love to hear that collaboration.
You’ve crushed this one on more than one occasion! See you tomorrow, Reina!
I read this, Then saw who posted it. Next thought,. " That's not just talk."
Lol your rendition was the first thing I thought of when I saw this vid
A collab between you and her... That is what the world needs right now.
Mary, you probably won't see this but I'm 13 and started playing the guitar a while back and you've been a big inspiration for me. Thought I would let you know.
Ps. Please don't ever stop doing what you're doing.
@@machinedaluminum thank you 👍
Mary inspires a lot of us.
@ejm1111: good move! I started at 12 and I'm still playing and learning every day now that I'm 52! There is a whole world waiting to be explored!
Become the Juke Box Hero!
@@wolfgangritter9277 out of interest, how long have you been playing.
I'm impressed with the way Mary is so discreet in her picking- using open strings without hitting any adjacent wrong notes. She's ever so neat!
Seriously! I've been spending most of the video staring at her picking hand trying to figure out HOW to do that.
What about her groove?
The guitar is not live. It's a playback. Maybe that's why
@@xXValomatXx How can you tell?
@@SatchmoBronson He can't. He mistakes the video/audio latency from syncing in post priduction to the guitar being playback
I'm glad both my ears are here to listen to this.
This is a criminally underrated comment.
@@bartvansliedregt5482 it really is
Nicely done.
I can only ever think of the gasoline scene from Reservoir Dog's
i was about to post the same comment :d
Right!!!!
What I didn’t ear you. Lololol
Everytime
Lol, yeah man, that’s a classic movie right there!
At 37 I still look to you and Pierce for stunning arrangements..and Marty for simple acoustic rhythm ideas.
Girl, I'm old enuf to be your granny, and i NEVER would have thought ANYONE could do a soulful, sultry cover of this song like you just did! Good job! I really enjoyed listening
Sometimes the music gods send the voice of angel to touch the ears of mere mortals. Sometimes the music gods send a simple melody so perfectly balanced and expertly executed that the heart yields to emotions of memories long forgotten. This is one of those times. Thank you so very much for this song.
I am so in love with Mary's voice and the way she plays, it's just so beautiful.
The restringing looks so satisfying
@@machinedaluminum Big tip for that I've learned--either do one string at a time, or block off the trem before you restring it. Either way makes it a breeze. Goes from 30 minutes to 5, easy peasy.
@@diego2112gaming The most you can get away with is 2 strings, according to Maddi (Schiferstein), but yes, if you can stick to 1 string at a time as much as possible, you're in good shape.
I LOVE what you did with the song. Really really cool take on the classic. When you got “please... part and the guitar came in I wanted to grab mine and jump in the jam. Great job.
This song means a lot to me as it comes from my home town of Paisley and from couple of local boys from Ferguslie & Glenburn, Gerry Rafferty & Joe Egan. Fantastic song, obviously has worldwide appeal. Excellent version, Mary! Love from Scotland!
"Stealers Wheel" ?
@@a7ewald exactly!
It’s my favourite Bob Dylan song
(joking)
Too bad Michael Madsden ruined it.
Ahhhh… trademark precision guitar-playing, and on an attention-grabbing St. Vincent. Love that color! Thanks, Mary!
I'm learning guitar on my dad's old 12 string guitar, and drawing inspiration from guitarist like you, keep on Rocking, and rolling!!!!$😘🎸❤🤘
She's underrated af. She's amazing and I absolutely love pickless players
Mary, you probably won't see this but I'm 67 and started playing a while back and you've been a big inspiration for me, also. :)
That's so cool! Keep it up!
We were always taught to replace strings one at a time, helps keep neck tension change to a minimum. Nano web coating definitely makes the strings last longer but not the brightness of d’adarios which last longer than Ernie balls when gigging. Our bass player played almost a year on nano web strings 3 nights a week but they looked seriously hairy at the end. Great job on your version of a classic. Great job. Keep the music alive.
Your voice is so versatile and beautiful!!! I love your version of the song, sound great, took me back in time!!! You are on your way to fame!!! So hold on, don't change your core beliefs, and enjoy the ride!!! May God bless you!!!
Damn that guitar looks flames, leopard print and orange looks really good together on that St Vincent model.
Sure does.
The look of this guitar is just... well... scandalous - I can dig it! The song is nothing short of perfection. Thank you, Mary!!! :)))))))))))))))))))))))))
I often enjoy watching covers of of my favorites. I find great arrangements and multitudes of talented folks. This is a gem for me. Thanks.
what a great cover
First of all, that guitar is pretty impressive it fits you really well.
Second, I really believe what it takes to become an international star, your talent is undeniable! congrats!
One of my favorites from my teenage years. One of those songs that would make you stop whatever you were doing and... turn it up!
Well done, Mary. Thank you.
Rick
What a nice voice to hear
I literally just finished watching resovior dogs for the first time ever.
Very nice cover!! Keep up the good work!
That Capri Orange St Vincent guitar is gorgeous 😱
I've always loved this song. Really like your arrangement and performance. Nice tube amp schematic over your right shoulder.
Mary , you've really mastered the balance of not playing too much guitar. But then you've a beautiful voice .
just want to be stuck anywhere with you mary..with a couple of guitars and the sun shining and you doing what you do best...always such a joy to hear you sing and play..i mean your not just beautiful..but your musically beautiful..so smooth and such a great player..thanks for sharing..your awesome.
I just discovered this superb artist!!!!!!!!!! On the same level as Josh Turner. Major compliment!!!! Thanks Rick Beato!
Gerry Rafferty was a very talented guy love his songs especially this and "right down the line" (which I think is totally your style too), really enjoyed your version the guitar sounds amazing.
stuck in the middle with Mary Spender wouldn't be a bad place to be! Take care dear! be safe out there!
Спасибо тебе за такой шедевр,ты отлично играешь и у тебя замечательный голос.

@@VicvetshayaPantera had to use google translate for this but it was worth it
I just love your voice. I could listen to you sing and play all day long. Great video, thank you for sharing. 🤠❤️🎸
Being stuck anywhere with Mary and her guitar would be a pleasure.
OMG this is so awesome. I would love to see you do this with like a pick up band coming during the first chorus and maybe bring in other female voices to accompany!!!! Sounds soooo good. One of my favs.
Mary NEVER dissapoints!!!
Thank you Mary.... I learn something. 🎵🎶🎶..... You're a pro🎵🇬🇧🎵🎶🔊🎸🎤🎧🇬🇧
I like it twice 😁🇬🇧
Mary never ceases to Amaze us!!!
A lesson in how to Enjoy what you’re doing ......and ho.w infectious that’s is for the listener . Top version Mary
This brought back memories. Did a demo in a basement. Using my Les Paul Studio Custom Bass (a mouthful), I was plugged into the Board. The mikes had those big foam covers. Being punk/new wave there was still some Pop. Good times.
Love her guitar style!
Sounds so mellow, beautiful.
Poor Marvin Nash. Probably one of the best needle drops in cinema history though.
Loved it! Also really love your
genuineness and how you seem to enjoy while playing :)
A great song to start my day here in the States! Thanks, Mary!
This made me play along to ya, that line is fire and love this version
Absolutely love the looks of that St. Vincent.
What a treasure. Mary could sing the alphabet song and it would be amazing.
You should consider adding posters over album covers to your store. My daughter adores you and she would love a Mary Spender poster for her room. She’s teaching herself to play guitar and she just sings away in there. She turns eleven in August. Keep making music and we will keep listening and buying it.
Simply excellent! What a voice and picking of pure feeling - go your way and enjoy the world! We are behind...... ☮️
23 seconds in and realised the song and you put a big grin on me face, thank you
Just bought your masterclass. I am very excited
Stripping this song down to just a guitar , damn sounds so good!
simply awesome ... speechless ... honestly
Everything is beautiful.the guitar,the song,the tune and you😉😘😘
Hi Mary,
I found you through your collaboration with Leo Moracchioli on Sultans Of Swing.
Love your cover of both songs [this one & Sultans of Swing].
Same
You definitely have an ear for this song.
Mary has an ear for just about anything musical.
Watching her face I had a few thoughts.
A) this is a song that she finds really fun to play.
B) Someone was off camera making faces/ trying to get her to crack. (She did close her eyes then grinned again after opening)
C) she nailed parts she has had trouble with.
D) some combination of the above.
Daqui do Brasil mais um fã, que voz linda, que mulher linda, que talento.... Me tirou por uns momentos do chão obrigado
Ela manda bem.
Oh my god, Mary, your smile is contagious!
Wow! Loved what you did with this! Thank# so much
Nice version love it. And that orange just pops. Crazy good 🎸😎
Your voice sounds so beautiful
Oh my god this is one of my favorite songs, and you are one of my favorite people!!
I’m old enough to remember the original when it came out. Great cover Mary, great cover!
We love Mary Spender! Thank you for the music...
This video has given me inspiration to work on my finger picking, I love this arrangement of a classic song.
True fans notice the raw talent behind the pretty face. Well done, Mary! Great cover!
Ok, just added you to my list of favorite female musicians in UA-cam. I love the original which is a banger. And your cover in nothing less and love it too!
Just great when all you need is a great Voice - like Marys - and some cool down to earth backing Guitar or other instrument/s. Why do people have to overcomplicate Music? am I the only one who loves this style... dont think so
I wants that guitar...it already on the list...and it orange!!..must have one.
Mary, you make being stuck in the middle not such a bad place to be. I'm a huge fan of yours.
Ooooooo yes tough song to play!!! Way to go little girl you deserve a gold star.
Love that guitar.
It's nice to see you putting so much soul into a song that came out way before you were born!
Mary you never fail to make music sounds amazing doesn’t matter if it is your own song or a cover. Keep them coming!
So smooth ! Excellent
It was such a pleasure listening to you, as always it is.
Thank you Mary Spender.... Lost my job due to this pandemic junk.... I’ve been spending hours a day for over a month now job searching and really needed this! Thanks so much for this awesome cover! Thank you again!
Love this cover, love that guitar, and love elixir strings. Excellent job, Mary!
I really enjoyed this, great voice, no fuss or frills just great playing and a good interpretation of a great song, thank you.
Best cover of the song
Thank you!
Tony Williams was in Steelers Wheel. He also did the bass on a tour of Jethro Tull in 1978. He went to the Hamer factory with Martin Barre, they did a deal with Tony for him to be a Hamer artist. He got a 1978 Hamer Sunburst. Crowned and bound for that deal. I now own that guitar (my avatar pic). It’s mint in case. Lucky me.
Love this. I really like that orange guitar, too!
You are a lovely human Mary Spender. Delightful!
crisp, pure, thank you for sharing
*songs to get strapped to chairs and have ears cut off to.
Great job Mary!!
Stuck in the middle with me 🌈 a little breathy with the vocal recoding. Well done 👍🏼
Very nice. I love the amp schematic on the wall.

Thanx!
Great one
Nice version...thank you. I love your guitar. Peace and much love ✌💜
Kinda like a soft shoe version of this great. Very Nice, Thank You Mary!
Amazing songsong very good version of it 👍🏻
Joe Egan and Gerry Raffery were a duo known as Stealer's Wheel.
When they recorded this Dylanesque pop bubblegum favorite from April of 1974.
That reached up to number five as K-Billy's Super Sound of the '70s continues...
Thanks for teaching me a new song!
Awesome video Mary !!!
