I mean sure it was cool and all, but he was last alive as a BDK for like 200k hp on the boss (0% according to health bars). It was mostly just hype because it was world first + because the boss was so hard, not because of the actual clutch itself.
For me, the photo finish for amirdrassil will always be my favorite. Both echo and liquid were ripping sub 1% pulls at the same time for like four hours before echo finally killed it. Absolutely insane finish
27:18 This was outright proven by Kungen himself as he managed to get logs from another guild that was raiding at the time year later and it showed that every guild was using Saronite bombs on every boss for the 1% edge. Also the fact that the GM that was spearheading the whole movement to ban Ensidia was a raider in another guild that was competing in the race to world first. Don't take my word for it go look up Kungen talking about it he has all the prove in the world. This also led to Blizzard forcing the Rule that no GM was allowed to Raid on RWF anymore.
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it. I would like to make a suggestion. When you're putting text over a full screen video, depending on the video content it can quite difficult to read, especially if there is a lot of motion like screen rotation occurring (e.g. around the 17 min 40 mark). Maybe putting a semi-opaque background (like the wow chat box) behind the text, could help improve its clarity. Generally I haven't had any issues reading text in your videos before, but this one example really stood out to me. Keep up the good work.
C’thun wasn’t tuned too “hard”. It was broken, you might want to go back and read what was actually wrong with it. Once they fixed the bugs it was killed almost instantly.
Yo! Important thing about 21st man, the strategy was created during the raid before, due to the boss before azshara needing only 1 tank, so max just watched instead and shot called. Scripe RL for echo, who always had "poor" performances as a player while leading (like every RL tends to have at that level, its impossible to do both at the same time as well), believed it wouldnt give them the advantage since they did win that race. However this decision was arguably what made them lose nyalotha, as the difference between having 20 high performance players and an outside RL started to show
Pretty egregious exclusion: Method Myrhic G’huun It was a super tight race with Limit who decided to extend the lockout on G’huun instead of opting for a reclear. Method recleared and killed G’huun. It was the first streamed WF race because of Method so if they had lost who knows if such an event would have become the norm. They might have just gone back to not streaming and blame their loss on the advantage other guilds got by watching them. We wouldn’t have the race we have today!
Liquid decided to extend because of Fetid being such a massive wall, and then Fetid was nerfed after they extended, so Method basically got the win handed to them by getting an extra reclear over Liquid. Races that are decided by Blizzard are never hype ngl (same goes for Vault).
nyalotha was such a euphoric win for NA in BFA. after their heartbreaking loss in the BoD even after faction swapping the entire guild to take advantage of the gear from the PVP quest, they deserved that one so much.
To add, for the number 10 entry. Legion was also the first expansion to have the mythic plus system, which also accounted for some of blizzard's mishandling of the balance in Emerald Nightmare. Together with the artifacts, legendaries and a great many class changes that happened for legion, the had no real idea just how crazy and out of hand things were going to get that tier. So if you've ever wondered why at the start of dragonflight (and apparently also the war withing) the tier bonuses look so dull it's because blizzard is being cautious of player power due to situations like this happening in the past.
Dude this channel gets insta-views late at night after OT shifts. I miss WoW but I realize I can never get it back because its a totally different game from when I quit post-mists and into WLoD infancy. Might have to pop a long video while I sleep to wake back up and do it again. Cheers, man.
One of my favourite moments was in highmaul when everyone got stuck on butcher and then paragon just skipped butcher, steamrolled the rest of the raid and then came back cleaning up butcher with all the gear. It was glorious.
There are plenty of raid bosses that have been exploited, such as Atramedes. You could pull him into the hallway of the doors and he couldn't hit you with the sound disks and so you could ignore his sound mechanics all together.
About the Saronite Bomb Strat in ICC part, i remember that they were playing on Magtheridon, after that 'incident' they migrated to Tarren Mill. My mind can be playing tricks on me but i was playing on Magtheridon back in the day.
To the First one. A big issue wasnt the degen farming that blizzard knew, but they vastly underestimated the shadow Priests surrender to madness ability, with which the Best Players could do absurd dps, especially on the last Boss, where it could be used 3 times making all dps Checks super easy.
This would be really cool to do for classic race to world first as well. The valk glitch wiping a group on putricide, beef bar (or whoever) skipping like half of SSC, etc.
Liquid didn't take a break from Jailer just because the tier was taking so long. They took a break because Echo was so far ahead and to Liquid only first place matters, so when it was clear that they were not going to get first place on top of the raid taking so long, the mental was just gone, they didn't have any reason to keep going when they were exhausted and knew they were not getting first. If they were close to Echo they would have kept going.
i def felt the difficulty with bosses towards the end taking multiple raid nights to beat we basically had got the jailer down and then he got nerfed on our next raid night which solidified it and we got the kill pretty quickly
depending on when you killed it, but pre-nerf Anduin was probably the hardest heroic boss of all time. Also, for a short amount of time near the start of that tier (3 weeks? I dont recall exactly) one of the mythic mechanics was active during the last phase of the fight. So yes, getting AotC in Sepulcher -especially if you did it near the start of the tier- really was quite an accomplishment.
I honestly still believe them when they say they didn't cheat with the bombs. Blizzard has banned people for WTF reasons numerous times and they already did back then; i remember them banning arcane mages using spell steal to steal shields from Death Knight trash mobs and using them to beat the bosses. It was hard to do, very few people did it, and limited to the knight quarter only. There was no bug involved, just good use of game mechanics.
To add a little bit more about the first entry, it was also widly accepted that there was a soft cap to the number of legendary your character could get early on, so it was actually pointless to play your character once he already got his 2 legendary. As for the raid, not only did they fumbled the difficulty, but they also made the last boss, Xavius, easier than the one before, Cenarius, who was the actual "wall" of this raid, which is pretty lame when you're talking about a last boss raid.
Nah this is wrong. There was a bug where if you got 2 early it increased your chance to get more, the cap was like 4 leggos early on, not 2. Plenty of people who got lucky early on had 4 leggos.
I remember there was a BIG thing that happened in Antorus. Someone was part of a big guild trash clear or something, and REFUSED to leave the instance. I think it was someone in a Method group? They were unable to prog because dude wouldn't leave, and they didn't want to 19 man prog. That is for sure some MAJOR drama that set them back an hour for the instance to reset
Unironically, its a disadvantage having NA get all the stuff first, our servers are the ones with all the bugs and shit. EU never has the downtime NA does because NA is the tester server to make sure everything is working properly. Also Sepulcher was meant to end at Anduin, and we were gonna get another raid with The Jailer being the end boss, but since they wanted to just get us out of Shadowlands, they put in 3 more bosses including Jailer so that we would be out quicker. We werent supposed to have fated, there was gonna be another full tier of WoW.
I'd add in Legion Kil Jaeden's outsmart by Method i think it was, they used the archmage vargoth toy to track the position of the adds , also abusing the goblin rocket racial to avoid the knockout mechanic.
With crucible it's not that no one was taking it seriously, it's that it was released around the same time as either a TGP or MDI, where method were also reigning champions, so some of their best players (meeres, zaelia, ginji, naowh) needed to go do practise for that and so they couldn't necessarily put out their best roster
So in other words, they weren't taking it seriously. If these things released during a normal raid tier, they wouldn't have participated in the dungeon aspects rather than not participating in the raid aspect.
I still think they should create a tournament realm for race to world first where the bosses are purposely tuned hard. Give the guilds that want to complete free access to as many consumables and bis gear from M+/previous raids.
The reason the guilds don’t want this is cause 1) they would then have to regear and reprocess on the normal servers. They need to be able to practice, trial new raiders and not have a huge down period between races. 2) it cuts the community out of the event. As someone who has worked the RWF, the community gets really excited about being part of the effort with splits or crafting. 3) It would change the race greatly if at the snap of your fingers your entire raid could reroll to whatever was better. Say hunters aren’t as good as they expected? Well just have those players make a new class and be ready in 20 mins. It takes a lot of prep work for the race and tournament realms would trivialize a part of the effort they put in. The RWF has been a community event ever since the start. It’s not blizzards event, it’s ours. They host and created the AWS and MDI. But the community created and supported the RWF. If the issue is the raids are tuned to 13 so raids aren’t plowed through in a week with the RWF, and the rest of the raiding community is frustrated when content is crazy overturned (or even the RWF teams when they overtune things like Sepulcher or Amirdrassil); the solution isn’t make separate servers for the RWF and have that content be harder then the normal servers. The solution is blizzard shouldn’t tune content around .1% of the raiding community and tune it for the majority of the raiding community that can’t/doesn’t treat raiding like a job and won’t have 4p for 2-4 weeks and ilvl is maybe 10ilvl lower then the RWF teams that did splits.
The only thing I take away from the talk about US getting the raid some hours earlier than EU, is that there should be a global release. Still do not understand why Blizz can't make that happen.
For me it was the world first Baelroc 25m kill. A tank died and a hunter helped tank to keep the main tank alive. MD and feign literally won them the title
We hated SL and how dark the storyline was. So when we came back for Zerth Mortis(sweet a beautiful zone and good vibes) getting wrecked on Sepulcher was insane. A lot of people came back for that raid and it was impossible on normal without having played all expansion.
Altho RWF is a cool concept I still think it's bad for the game as a whole. Having to nerf raids at all (in this case multiple times) for the general playerbase to even have a chance at clearing it is bad design. They shouldn't design raids for the less than 1% period. Either give those players a tournament realm with crazy overtuned bosses to bash their heads against or make them easier. Simple. Progressing mythic only for it to be nerfed into the ground later as a mythic raider doesn't feel good either. It should not be like this at all.
My legion legendary luck sucked. I was playing mage and my first one was the stand still for 3 seconds to then be allowed to cast one spell moving, then the blink heal one, then the shield belt, then finally a dps one, but not a great one - gave you either free blizzards when using frozen orb? Or increased damage on it? I can't remember which one, but it was an aoe and single target dps boost.
The fact your #1 spot is for an ICC NORMAL mode boss, where heroic was not even open so the 'Race to World First' had not begun, and full of falsehood like "in the first few weeks they discovered...", is very disheartening and poorly researched, and it's a shame people keep mis-remembering and mis-presenting this and the significance of it (which was of no significance at all). The Saronite bomb glitch was on normal mode on the week that the last wing opened, which most guilds killed within a couple of raid progress nights. Heroic and the actual race unlocked the following week. The heroic raid had not unlocked when this glitch incident and subsequent ban happened - Ensidia were banned for 3 days, so were unbanned before heroic opening week. ---- For clarity: MMO announcement of Ensidia suspension for 72 hours - 4th Feb 2010 Blizzard reported date of [exploit occurrence] - 3rd Feb 2010 Lord Marrowgar heroic world first - 9th Feb 2010 (this is the date of ICC hc opening)
In addition, if you wanted an actual World First being an exploit (and from the same expansion), look at Exodus' world first kill of Yogg0, which they were subsequently banned for 3 days for; This was a legitimate exploit on an end heroic boss to get a world first.
Due to their ban and LK Kill being removed they were not eligible to zone into Heroic ICC the following week. Heroic ICC was gated behind N ICC clear. Even though their ban ended they couldn't do Heroic; effectively removed from the RWF.
@@shahaf75 No, their ban ended 3 days before heroic open. They were in ICC HC on the Wednesday of release for EU. Look up wowprogress before making insane claims.
Some members leaving Method to make Echo, was pure hypocrisy. Most of those who left, were actually the ones who kept the issue with player X under the rug. To leave Method and have others clean up the mess showed their true colors.
About Sha of fear 20min fight. It is not true that it was longest. Illidan in BT back in the day had 25min enrage. A normal fight in the start usually was more than 20min.
You forgot to mention that during release of crucible of storms MDI prep / start of MDI was happening during that time and 5 or more players from the best guilds in the world were participating in the event so were not really able to commit to the raid at the time.
I guess you missed LFR first introduction in Drago Soul and it issues which resulted in so many top guilds getting banned. A Korean guild got WF which is super rare.
The Top moment for me is the first time the RWF got streamed live on twitch. That changed so much in such a positiv way. But on the other hand your a big Limit fan boy so it had no place on that list
For the regional differences discussed in #7, why not just start the timer at different times. World first would be the quickest to down a boss after it’s released in that region
He explained it during. It evens as as N.A. typically hits bugs that need to be addressed and are always addressed before EU gets there. EU also gets to see the strats (what does and doesn’t work)
@@wspencerwatkins course man. Both echo and liquid have commented on it too. The consensus is that it’s fine. They wouldn’t want to have their sleep schedule ruined by say a 11pm launch as well anyways. Might as well wait a few hours (since their Wednesday occurs half a day before N.A. does)
In the Ensidia matter, Blizzard was a complete scumbag. First and foremost, the guild didn't *learn* that saronite bombs rebuild the platform, they just noticed that the platform was being rebuilt randomly (the bombs had a chance, due to a bug, to rebuild it, so it didn't happen every time Kungen was using them). So they indeed had no idea what was rebuilding it. Secondly, there were GMs watching the world first try, they had all the opportunity to close the encounter when they noticed it wasn't behaving as it should have. Instead they let it happen just to issue a ban afterwards.
No Spine of Deathwing? Yogg Saron +0? You added someone who used a toy to entertain tired raiders but not the Yogg Saron fight which was deemed to be insanely hard pre-nerf? Iirc, they were the only guild who downed it before the nerf aswell, but i could be wrong about that.
Cthun was never mathematically impossible, we had the pre nerf version of cthun in classic and smashed it. the people playing back then were just worse at the game, played with much lower FPS on shitty monitors, had bad internet etc. Regardless, if a guild in 2005 went into Cthun with 28 fury warriors and full world buffs, it would have died.
The EN one isn't really true, yes a couple of players did the degenerate strategy but even among the world first guilds only a few did that extreme strat. EN was poorly tuned because of Blizzard failing to account for tons of general changes Legion brought with M+, artifact weapons, legiondaries, and tons of class reworks, also the fact that they didn't want a Highmaul 2.0 so they wanted it to be easier like most first tiers, they just swung too far. This is why the raid was so short for everyone in EN, not just world first guilds.
@mattalan6618 the dudes name is not I-ON its E-IN I mean crap it's an English name.... and it's said during All interviews... I believe this is all AI written and he is just reading it, also YOUR A KAREN 😂
I'm surprised you didn't include KT Naxx from vanilla. That's when Blizzard showed their real preference for EU guilds giving them that on a silver platter. Death and Taxes was on KT days before nihilum and magically the boss just stopped spawning for them??
Ragnaros requires players to be exalted with Hydraxian Waterlords, and since MC can only be cleared once a week, this puts a timer on the earliest moment it could be killed. That's why it took so long, and no other reason. Its not a hard boss, it never was.
The disconnects whilst Ensidia were raiding were real i was there many years ago on Tarren mill, a player at the Dalaran fishing well had cast macroed to the mouse wheel and for some reason there wasnt a gcd on it at the time and when it got spammed it would disconnect server.
also there was a chinese guild that got the yogg 0 world first abusing aff warlocks staring at the wall to prevent insanity, "clever use of in game mechanics" as said by ghostcrawler back then
ok 17:20 is a lie. liquid was never even close to claim world first on the jailer. in fact the last 3 days of their raid the did 0 progression while echo was miles ahead of them. liquid was playing so bad because of many reasons that it was not even safe for them to beat method for the 2nd place. since they both stream the race it was never seen before or after that echo outperformed liquid this hard. dont get me wrong, i love max and i love liquid but liquid got smashed on jailer.
I still think raids shouldn't have open betas for guilds to prepare and train on them , Blizz should have a few payed guilds to test this on closed beta and this guilds should be allowed to participate on the race, then we would see truly how long this would take to complete.
@@billymays9296 as seen by this video it never is , you can never test for everything so there is no necessity to make it open beta, and even the guides can be made after the raids reach live as well as other creators that already don't play in betas to make their guides.

SoFO is also because it was 2 raids smashed together and half the bosses were late tier tuned from the separate raids.
The original AQ war effort was such a cool time to be playing wow, I wish they could recreate that magic in retail
You can't
get stickbugged, max
6: Except we've now seen in classic that those 'mathematically impossible' numbers are not only possible, but would parse green.
The only thing I take away from the talk about US getting the raid some hours earlier than EU, is that there should be a global release. Still do not understand why Blizz can't make that happen.
Enjoyed the video ty
For me it was the world first Baelroc 25m kill. A tank died and a hunter helped tank to keep the main tank alive. MD and feign literally won them the title
We hated SL and how dark the storyline was. So when we came back for Zerth Mortis(sweet a beautiful zone and good vibes) getting wrecked on Sepulcher was insane. A lot of people came back for that raid and it was impossible on normal without having played all expansion.
Method vs garrosh was insane
Sepulcher, not Seplicker...
I think Max aka Arthur correctly guesses 7/10 of this list.
----
For clarity:
MMO announcement of Ensidia suspension for 72 hours - 4th Feb 2010
Blizzard reported date of [exploit occurrence] - 3rd Feb 2010
Lord Marrowgar heroic world first - 9th Feb 2010 (this is the date of ICC hc opening)
In addition, if you wanted an actual World First being an exploit (and from the same expansion), look at Exodus' world first kill of Yogg0, which they were subsequently banned for 3 days for; This was a legitimate exploit on an end heroic boss to get a world first.
🤓
@MoonTurky you don't have to announce your stupidity to the world, we see it regardless.
Not the most family friendly but how can we forget the bricked up moment in amidrassil
Some members leaving Method to make Echo, was pure hypocrisy.
Most of those who left, were actually the ones who kept the issue with player X under the rug. To leave Method and have others clean up the mess showed their true colors.
Such a recognizable voice
About Sha of fear 20min fight. It is not true that it was longest.
Illidan in BT back in the day had 25min enrage. A normal fight in the start usually was more than 20min.
You forgot to mention that during release of crucible of storms MDI prep / start of MDI was happening during that time and 5 or more players from the best guilds in the world were participating in the event so were not really able to commit to the raid at the time.
bro actually added some random na meme to fucking RFW top moments i cant
I guess you missed LFR first introduction in Drago Soul and it issues which resulted in so many top guilds getting banned. A Korean guild got WF which is super rare.
Great Video, but Liquid was never close on claiming world first on Jailer.
I guess the 1day headstart also explains why EU is superior in m+ and pvp as well, r-right?
The Top moment for me is the first time the RWF got streamed live on twitch. That changed so much in such a positiv way. But on the other hand your a big Limit fan boy so it had no place on that list
Whats the point of an acronym if you have you spell it out (Race to World First)?
Max is gonna die when he hears hiru rip a “young dip hitting that skip”
I still watch SK Gaming vs Kil’Jaeden to this day.
Well 7:13 marks the fact that all races in dragonflight have an asterisk on it...
For the regional differences discussed in #7, why not just start the timer at different times. World first would be the quickest to down a boss after it’s released in that region
He explained it during. It evens as as N.A. typically hits bugs that need to be addressed and are always addressed before EU gets there. EU also gets to see the strats (what does and doesn’t work)
@@boopsii hmm that makes sense. Might have missed that, I jump around a little, thanks bud
Wasn't there a guild that went into their game files and deleted a file so they could just skip to C'thun?
Yes but it wasn't World First. Was for farm reasons.
A guild did that however it was not for a world first. It was to shorten the amount of time they had to put into farming cthun while naxx40 was out
Tell me you are a liquid fan, without telling me you are a liquid fan
No Spine of Deathwing? Yogg Saron +0? You added someone who used a toy to entertain tired raiders but not the Yogg Saron fight which was deemed to be insanely hard pre-nerf?
Iirc, they were the only guild who downed it before the nerf aswell, but i could be wrong about that.

I MISS LEGION
E- ON, not I- ON
Ok Karen
@@mattalan6618 tbf it is fucking annoying
@@mattalan6618shut up, Matt Allen
I know Ion.. it pronounced Eye-on. He loves that shit.
You should have had Paragon vs Garrosh in SoO solohealing the fight and geting world first.
Bro... you could've lusted THREE times in the sha of fear fight, If you lust at the start
The disconnects whilst Ensidia were raiding were real i was there many years ago on Tarren mill, a player at the Dalaran fishing well had cast macroed to the mouse wheel and for some reason there wasnt a gcd on it at the time and when it got spammed it would disconnect server.
what about deathwing and the guild starx or something from TW/CN
also there was a chinese guild that got the yogg 0 world first abusing aff warlocks staring at the wall to prevent insanity, "clever use of in game mechanics" as said by ghostcrawler back then
ok 17:20 is a lie. liquid was never even close to claim world first on the jailer. in fact the last 3 days of their raid the did 0 progression while echo was miles ahead of them. liquid was playing so bad because of many reasons that it was not even safe for them to beat method for the 2nd place. since they both stream the race it was never seen before or after that echo outperformed liquid this hard. dont get me wrong, i love max and i love liquid but liquid got smashed on jailer.
I dont think c'thun was actually mathematically impossible. Players were worse than today
Since when was M Raz sub 10 mins, homie?
Here before Max reacts to this
You said Ion a heap then Ian. Guessing you purposely trolled.
YOUNG DIP HIT THAT SKIP
YUNG DIP HIT THAT SKIP
I still think raids shouldn't have open betas for guilds to prepare and train on them , Blizz should have a few payed guilds to test this on closed beta and this guilds should be allowed to participate on the race, then we would see truly how long this would take to complete.
No Guilds are as good as Liquid and Echo, so it would never be testable enough.
@@billymays9296 as seen by this video it never is , you can never test for everything so there is no necessity to make it open beta, and even the guides can be made after the raids reach live as well as other creators that already don't play in betas to make their guides.
Liquid going back to back was worthy of this list
How about yogg 0 lights being thought to be impossible before a guild actually killed it legitimately.
I really hope they pull a dark souls on us at the actual end of wow. you beat phase 3 then the true battle begins.
For me is Treckie vs Garrosh in SoO 25HC
