    "Don't try this at home" it's so true. As kids my buddies and I did quite a number on each other imitating it. My two biggest: My buddy and I botched a piledriver, I got spiked on top of my head, he hurt his back and I'm convinced it's why I get migraines to this day as a 35 year old.
    We wised up after an accident where I tripped over my friend's leg and fell face first on a box full of drinking glasses. Cut up pretty bad, mom rushed me to the hospital to get some stitches. My friend was really freaked out, literally ran home in tears thinking he killed me. We laugh about that now considering he's in the military. 😅

      Just saw this, after making a "don't try at home" post!
      That's one hell of a story! Glad you both made it thru childhood, doing things like that to each other! I didn't do anything as wild but jumping off the swings at the highest point, and landing hard face down! Knock the wind out of me too, but at least I didn't paralyze myself doing a dumb thing!

      Luckily for me, I was always very cautious by nature, so I always took the "Do Not Try This At Home" warnings very seriously, even as a kid. I would have refused to ever try doing WWE moves with my friends, and I would have also tried to be the voice of reason and tell them not to try it either.

    Fun fact: Rock actually tore a muscle in that match with John Cena. I can't remember if it was the bicep, tricep, or pec, but he tore one of them.
    Also, check out Kurt Angle vs. Shane McMahon from King of the Ring 2001 or the ECW One Night Stand show from 2005. Both had some gnarly stuff.

      There's also the time when Triple H tore his pectoral muscle right off of the bone. When it happened it legit looked really bad with how quickly and awkwardly he went flying over the top rope. And if you saw how he looked in the hospital afterwards, most of his arm & the area where he tore his pectoral muscle all looked like one gigantic bruise. And then there's the time when he tore his quad (and it happened to him more than once) and he still kept going with the match.

      For real. Kids get upset when they realize it’s not real (just like movies/series…), but if anything, being able to fake it like that is a lot more impressive. When I try to punch the air as hard and quick as I can, I feel like I’m at risk of injuring myself, let alone all the crazy stunts these guys do.

    It's nice to remind people that just because professional wrestling is scripted, that doesn't mean the actual physical aspect isn't any less dangerous. The ring mat is a lot harder than people realize, the ropes are thick and very rough, and you can't fake a suplex like you can hold back a punch. All that's not getting into how their health care is disturbingly subpar for how dangerous their job is.

    • @ryanodonovan9497
      @ryanodonovan9497 2 роки тому +14

      Very true, but what the people who constantly scoff at wrestling for being "fake" also need to realise is that the argument is stupidly hypocritical and redundant. Firstly, WE KNOW it's staged. That's the POINT. And promotions don't try to hide it as they did many decades ago. They couldn't do so now if they tried. So for people to act like we don't know it's a show is moronic. Secondly, would they behave like that towards a live theatre production, film or TV series they liked? No. So why do it with wrestling?

    Fun fact about the clip of Brian Pillman and Steve Austin if I remember right Pillman was dealing with a bit of a real leg injury when they did that segment.
    Also you should look into Wrestlemania 17 from 2001 the TLC Ladder match for the tag team championships there’s a point where Jeff Hardy is hanging in the air trying to get the tag belts and one of his opponents Edge jumps off a ladder and spears Jeff Hardy in mid-air. It would kind of be an injury that would over time nag at Edge that cut his career short in 2011 leaving him retired for the longest time till him being cleared for in ring action and returning to WWE in 2020.

    If you notice on the hand stomp in the chair.. he’s stomping the opposite direction you’d need to in order to break an arm (the chair is in the opposite direction it would need to be to create a wedge.. when he stomps the chair actually gets wider on the arm). That’s why these guys are the best. You wouldn’t even know it unless you know what to look for. I promise you that guys arm wasn’t broke. But it convinced a doctor!

    I love how this one has alot of scenarios where they aren't actually causing too much damage. And yet the fact it would still hurt a ton and if they are an inch off they could actually do a ton of damage depending. And how from actual talks with wrestlers that fits perfectly as yeah its choreographed and it is an illusion, but still a centimeter off and you are on a razors edge.

    Hulk Hogan actually has severe spinal compression from that leg drop. In his heyday, he was about 6'8" and he's 6'4" now. Also, Hogan's leg isn't actually landing across the neck. It's hitting the upper chest.

    There are RL injuries too - the time Vince ran in by diving under the bottom rope and broke both his legs on the edge of the ring - Seth Rollins broke a leg simply jumping to the floor by himself - one woman caught herself wrong falling from the ring to the floor. Many of Nia Jax opponents have been hurt
