    3 years ago I was teaching Brownies how to knit. There was one girl who was left handed so had managed to knit left handed, never did it again. Your explanation helped to remind me and can now do entrelac much better than before. Thank you.

    An expensive book and the expensive class from another well known instructor could not help me learn to entrelac. But you in one lesson have me off and running. You are the best teacher I have ever encountered. And I am now knitting backwards with ease!

    Note to self: When learning something new, do no use slippery yarn and do not use roving yarn. But, I can knit backward now. Which is fun. So good to keep learning. Hope I have the patience to finish this. Thank you, Marly, you are a great teacher.

    I never thought that I could do entrelac!!! Thanks to your great tutorial, I can now do that as well as backwards knit!!! Love watching your tutorials. You are very clear, repeat when necessary, easy to follow and it's obvious you want us all to learn by the way you teach. Thank you Miss Marly!

    I haven't knitted for a good five years and once did a lot of enterlac knitting. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get my rectangles started and your video was so well done it brought it right back to me. I had even forgotten I didn't need to turn my work but rather to knit backwards. Guess my little ole lady brain when I put too much thought into the process really confused me! Thanks for getting me back on the right track so quickly!

    I learned the crochet version of entrelac stitch from an Aunt in my pre-teen years. i was not patience and my interest was short. As I'm older now, I really appreciate all the new adventures and learning curves that crocheting and knitting has too offer. I am not fast nor cannot do on a daily basis due to work schedule, but always try to make my weekend's project days and when affordable. I appreciate different learning techniques as I'm trying to it my own. Thanks again 😊

    Just found your channel, and I just love it! It has been many years since I last knitted and have come back to it just recently. I love the way that you do your demos, you make everything so clear. I'm almost 70, and never knew before about knitting back! It's a true revelation... how did I not know this? Fabulous. Back in the 1970s I knitted a jumper in this entrlac stitch, and knitting back would have been a boon. I love your enthusiasm, too, it's contagious. Love this cowl. Your channel is my "go to" channel for knitting and crochet tips and patterns.

    i know this is an older video, but for entrelac backwards knitting is great. But much easiere with combined knitting. Meaning the purls done with needel in back loop like here bute then just yarn between the needels and pull through. And and the next row the knitt stiched are twisted so you have to knitt them in the back loop. wich is fast and easy because they are in the right postion.
    I have down a whole pillow case that way, in flat. Just turned on the sides. But who ever finds this maybe it helps.

    I’ve tried continental knitting but for some reason I just can’t get it. But I love knitting or crocheting entrelac patterns.

    Marly I love your enthusiasm. Your videos and classes are so much fun! Love the backwards knitting thing! I'm working on the hat from your Leisure Art booklet on Entrelac. I have a quick question. You said in the video that a lot of patterns tell you to slip the first stitches but you don't like to do that. Every pattern in the booklet says to slip the first stitch. Is there a benefit to going one way or the other.

    • @MarlyBird
      @MarlyBird  8 років тому +1

      I feel like you get a bigger gap between stitches when you slip the first stitch. When I did the book, the discussion between the powers that be and me the decision was made to have them all slipped :)

      Knitting backwards make the technique faster. More people choose to knit entrelac that way than turning each time.
