Wonderful instructions. I have looked for 4 plus decades to learn. Entreac knitting. Thank you for making the. Directions so clear and simple. Love to you.
I watched two other (confusing) tutorials before I found yours. Such a clear and well demonstrated video. Thanks!
Thank you so much!
3 years ago I was teaching Brownies how to knit. There was one girl who was left handed so had managed to knit left handed, never did it again. Your explanation helped to remind me and can now do entrelac much better than before. Thank you.
An expensive book and the expensive class from another well known instructor could not help me learn to entrelac. But you in one lesson have me off and running. You are the best teacher I have ever encountered. And I am now knitting backwards with ease!
X
I have watched a few videos on entrelac knitting, but yours helped me the most. Thank you so much Marly for your clear explanations. You made it so easy to understand the methodology, that I don't even need to follow the pattern steps anymore! 😊
Thank you so much for sharing the design of this beautiful Entrelac knit Cowl.
Note to self: When learning something new, do no use slippery yarn and do not use roving yarn. But, I can knit backward now. Which is fun. So good to keep learning. Hope I have the patience to finish this. Thank you, Marly, you are a great teacher.
I never thought that I could do entrelac!!! Thanks to your great tutorial, I can now do that as well as backwards knit!!! Love watching your tutorials. You are very clear, repeat when necessary, easy to follow and it's obvious you want us all to learn by the way you teach. Thank you Miss Marly!
Thanks for this video. Super helpful. I've never been successful with entrelac, but now I know I can do it.
Yay!!
The clearest explanation of entrelac that I’ve found anywhere! Thanks, Marley!
I haven't knitted for a good five years and once did a lot of enterlac knitting. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get my rectangles started and your video was so well done it brought it right back to me. I had even forgotten I didn't need to turn my work but rather to knit backwards. Guess my little ole lady brain when I put too much thought into the process really confused me! Thanks for getting me back on the right track so quickly!
Best instructions for entrelac knitting ! I’ve seen so many but you are so clear and precise! Thanks
I have made my grandson an entrelac blanket, adapting instructions from many videos. However, even though I did not do it in the round, it was your instructions that helped me the most! It is so very clear. Thank you!
I learned the crochet version of entrelac stitch from an Aunt in my pre-teen years. i was not patience and my interest was short. As I'm older now, I really appreciate all the new adventures and learning curves that crocheting and knitting has too offer. I am not fast nor cannot do on a daily basis due to work schedule, but always try to make my weekend's project days and when affordable. I appreciate different learning techniques as I'm trying to it my own. Thanks again 😊
What a great tutorial !!! The backward knitting technique is awesome !!! I can't wait to try it on !!! Thanks for this amazing video !!!
Just found your channel, and I just love it! It has been many years since I last knitted and have come back to it just recently. I love the way that you do your demos, you make everything so clear. I'm almost 70, and never knew before about knitting back! It's a true revelation... how did I not know this? Fabulous. Back in the 1970s I knitted a jumper in this entrlac stitch, and knitting back would have been a boon. I love your enthusiasm, too, it's contagious. Love this cowl. Your channel is my "go to" channel for knitting and crochet tips and patterns.
+Louise Rule you've made my day. Thank you so much!
I've never understood how to knit backwards before. I have done some small entrelac projects before but there was LOTS of turning. No more! Thanks for this tutorial.
GREAT!
Thank you for the tutorial. I have been wanting to learn entrelac and backwards knitting. This project will give me plenty of practice. Your video is very clear and easy to understand.
Have I ever told you how much I love you!!! Just discovered backwards knitting a few months ago....i have your book for this style of knitting. ...needless to say i struggle horribly with this...but now that I know the backwards...game changer. Thank you for showing both types. My brain likes the backwards. Smarter not harder. ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for showing the knit back technique. Once I've seen it, it makes sense. I haven't used it yet, but it seems so much easier than turning the work over and over again (as I have done up til now). Thanx 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Marley, for ages I was looking hw to do entralac knitting, so today u made it easy for me. I like ur way hw u teach. Us. Thanks Natasha s
Fabulous video! Thank you so much for the "knit backwards" technigue and the pattern. I have to try this now. I know I have this yarn in my stash, just need to find it. Thanks again. : )
I can't wait to try this, i was knitting my hat band while watching so now to track down your hat pattern and try this. Love your easy to follow style. Great Video!!
I just finished making this! I really love it and plan to make more of them. It's my first entrelac project and I even learned to knit backwards!
Marly, I really enjoy your style of teaching. Thanks for doing the new stitch repeatedly. I am looking forward to finally challenge myself, thanks to you👍😃👏👏👏
This video was amazing!! I have 2 books on entrelac and they tell me all the steps I need to do. But I couldn’t quite get it. After watching this I have it!! I’m going to make a ‘travel cowl’ on my trip next week. I can’t wait to get started. Thank you!!
I used the same fiber to create a knitted tammy hat with entrelac. I would love to teach others how to make them!
I love your tutorials. Thank you very much for sharing your talents!
You are so welcome!
I have struggled with understanding this stitch, you made it easy. Thank you!
Love this tutorial!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤👍🏻 especially the demo of how to knit backwards with continental yarn-holding✨✨✨⭐✨✨✨
e2cmmm i am about to finish my cowl. I enjoyed your video very much _ easy to follow your instructions. Used the knitting backward tech and at the beginning it was very awkward but I an getting better and certainly use it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Beautiful Cowl. Interesting how you knit backwards.
I'm so glad I found this! I haven't done entrelac in a long time, so this is an awesome refresher!!
I like the idea of knitting backward but I just taught myself how to do continental knitting so I think I'll wait to learn backward knitting
Such a nice method. I have learnt it so easily specially d back knitting...awesome.
I thank you very much for this tutorial, you are a very good teacher,I understand very well.
Thank you Marly you made entrelac seem easy!
Thanks Marly for demystifying entrelac! I just have one small complaint. I'm not a continental knitter. I'm a thrower and would've much appreciated if the time was split between the two types of knitting.
LOVE your glasses!!! I'm signed up for your class for mittens/gloves on craftsy too! Really like your down to earth style of teaching!
These backward knitting reminds me somehow of BO. Cool
Great tutorial - I've done Entrelac before but the constant turning made me not enjoy doing it. I will try out your very clear instructions on backward knitting - maybe it will actually make me enjoy Entrelac.
Knitting backwards is going to change my entire life!
Thanks Mary! This is so clear and helpful
i know this is an older video, but for entrelac backwards knitting is great. But much easiere with combined knitting. Meaning the purls done with needel in back loop like here bute then just yarn between the needels and pull through. And and the next row the knitt stiched are twisted so you have to knitt them in the back loop. wich is fast and easy because they are in the right postion.
I have down a whole pillow case that way, in flat. Just turned on the sides. But who ever finds this maybe it helps.
Excellent instruction! This will be my 2017 winter project. Thank you!
The perfect tutorial. Greetings from Germany.
Fascinating to watch 🤩
Really enjoyed this tutorial. Will try soon
I tried entrelac crocheting and couldn't do it without doing it along with a video. I will give entrelac knitting a try because I'm more experienced with knitting.
+Phyllis B The trick is (seriously) blind faith. Trust what I am telling you to do. I know you can do it!
+Marly Bird I was watching and thinking it didn't seem too hard, and I can knit backward so that's a plus. I'll have to set aside some time to concentrate on it.
Finished my cowl. I enjoyed learning how to do it easier than I had originally learned a couple of decades ago. Loved the reverse knitting! Does it need to be blocked? And if so how does one block entrelac?
Hello I’m really enjoying this video! Your explaination are really precise! I must also say love your blouse yr wearing as well, can u tell me where you got it from I really want to have one like yours 😊 it’s really beautiful. Thank you
What an awesome tutorial thank you so much
Kan you make a sweater whit this stitch pleas love the pateren
Thank you for a great tutorial, especially the knit backward one. I think that one gonna save alot for me! How do i increase with that method? I am increasing with YO in my currently knitting project.
Great instructions!
Marly I just finished your KAL and thought I would try this. Wow, knitting backwards, that's a time saver! I have a question but not about the technique since I have just started, just on the second triangle on the first tier. My question is what brand is your knitting needles? If I have any other questions I will be sure to ask. Thanks for the pattern and another great video tutorial!
To knit backwards does it only work if you are doing continental knitting?
I’ve tried continental knitting but for some reason I just can’t get it. But I love knitting or crocheting entrelac patterns.
That knitting backwards looks so much easier than always flipping your work, got any suggestions?
Thank you very much! Such a beautiful pattern
Hi Marly. Awesome video. Do you have one for hats?
Will a crochet caston work? Also I just ordered your entrelac beginner book I have to wait a week and its already driving me crazy I can't wait. This pattern will work for the girls in the family (I can't see the guys wanting one rofl)you are so amazing!
Hi love it. Would love to no how to eterlac flat?
What is your nail polish called and brand. I'm going to try entralac always wanted to learn you explain very clearly. Thank you.
Awesome tuto. 🙏🏻❤️
I got the first tier done with no problem but am stuck on picking up the purl stitches on the next tier. I wish the video was closer up so I could see where you're putting your needle through the pick up a stitch.
+Phyllis B pick any spot phyllis, as long as you get something and it is consistent you will be just fine ;-)
How about an entrelac hat to match?
Wonder if you could teach this for a hat pattern
Amazing 🤩🤩
Help...i am stuck on my practice piece of three triangles, two right leaning rectangles and one triangle on each of these sides, and then three left leaning rectangles...there is supposed to be a triangle on the left side, but on mine there isn't...WHY?
Marly I love your enthusiasm. Your videos and classes are so much fun! Love the backwards knitting thing! I'm working on the hat from your Leisure Art booklet on Entrelac. I have a quick question. You said in the video that a lot of patterns tell you to slip the first stitches but you don't like to do that. Every pattern in the booklet says to slip the first stitch. Is there a benefit to going one way or the other.
I feel like you get a bigger gap between stitches when you slip the first stitch. When I did the book, the discussion between the powers that be and me the decision was made to have them all slipped :)
Oh, I'm so excited! It took forever (and used other videos, sorry) but I finally did the hat in I Can't Believe I'm Entrelac Knitting! I love it! Backward knitting is AMAZING! I posted pictures on your Facebook page!
Hi there, does your mother still knit and still enjoy it? my regards
Beautiful but I did not get how many stitches u put on your interlaced pattern thank u.
All the numbers are in the pattern.
Light yarn on light needles on light background
What do you do if you don't want to work in the round? How would you do this flat? Thanks.
I would love to no to
hi marly bird my name is joe i try entrlace knitting and i keeop going worng with the side the Triangles can you leave them out ? i hope you are well
Hi Marly, where I can get the pattern Frm pls advise thanks Natasha s
im confused on how to join to complete the last triangle
I really wished your tutorial was done in the same yarn as your pattern. It is much more difficult to do in that yarn.. While your tutorial helped with learning new stitches, it would be very helpful to see the tutorial in the same yarn as your pattern.
+frunzid1 doing the tutorial in the yarn used in the pattern is hard to see on camera.
can't see anything on your download site! Very disappointed.
I am curious when the cowl becomes round ? Or joined. Please help me.
Keep watching. The join for tier two is when it becomes round.
hi not understanding the pattern in the join.
nice 😀😁😃😄😆😉🐇🐤🐥🐣
how do you sew up a project with the unforgettable yarn without the yarn breaking so much
You do have to be gentle when you use Unforgettable to seam up anything. You could always double the yarn as you sew and that will strengthen the fiber.
On the plus side I learned how to knit backwards. Other than that I'm very confused. I'm a visual learner and the flipping back and forth has made me dizzy. I want to make this so badly but I'm going to have to pass. Looking forward to the next video.
So is it the same as left handed knitting?
+Trudy Preston yes
Nice pattern and tutorial, however I feel too much wasted time with the knit backwards stuff. I'd rather see the technique, and then see shortcuts later.
+linda knisley Thank you for the compliment. The technique of Entrelac Knitting is still the key to the video and is shown in its entirety. You will be able to knit entrelac whether or not you decide to use knitting backwards. I hope you will give it a try.
+Marly Bird thank you for responding :) For me, I'd rather master the technique first, then work on improving speed. I can't wait to get started. have a great day.
A mi sale en conconge
Just by u teaching how to knit backwards it’s become a little confusing.
I am sorry to hear that. You don't have to knit backwards, but it does make it easier.
Marly Bird I meant teaching front way and backwards on the same swatch became a bit confusing . Will have to see it again to understand . Love your videos and hve done a lot of knitting seeing them. thanx a lot.
This is late in the game but her whole focus is on knitting backwards. This is a good video but I think there was to much focus on knitting backwards and not the real technique.
Knitting backwards make the technique faster. More people choose to knit entrelac that way than turning each time.
Regardless, the technique of entrelac is well explained in the video whether you choose to knit backwards or not.
Thank you for watching :)

Could you please show the same straight, not in round.
