    Omg so embarrassed! If we ran 100 body lengths per second we’d run at 409 miles per hour, 20,000 feet per hour. So sorry for the verbal typo 😂

      You also made a slight error with the terminal velocity statement. They actually reach terminal velocity incredibly fast so they fall a lot slower than we do which is also why small mammals can fall from pretty much any distance and survive as well. Love the channel by the way!

    I love Tiger beetles and according to some sources if the Tiger beetle was as big as we are they would run at 400mph. They also move so fast they stop frequently to get their bearings as their vision can't keep up w/their speed.....crazy.

      Yeah, I kind of felt relieved that the stings / bites probably aren't as painful as Coyote Peterson makes them out to be. I do my own little wildlife adventures. In my tarantula hawk video, I describe Coyote's theatrics, which made me more afraid of the wasp than I would have been had I not watched his video. To my credit, I stayed and got the shot.
      I'm also keeping some Western black widows. I don't plan on getting myself bitten, but it's nice to know that if I do, I won't die (knock on wood).

    Herein lies my story: Over 60 years ago we were driving with our parents in Illinois. Uneventful to be sure. I noticed a rather small but very colorful beetle (Green metalic by name) It was buzzing round the back "package shelf" area of the old Dodge. After a moment it disappeared. About a moment later my brother began a scream from hell. Screaming at the top of his lungs "It's biting me!! My parents pull over as quickly as possible. They said Where? He said my butt. They pulled down his pants & there it was happily chewing away on the jewels. They got it off him. My first expeience seeing a Tiger Beetle. A great little horror that should be made into a good monster film.

    Hey man, have you ever been stung by a Bombus or a Xylocopa (carpenter bee)?
    Many people (me included) are afraid of those big loud guys flying, it could be interesting if you made a comparison between the two, which has a more painful sting

  • @brycerush98
    @brycerush98 2 роки тому +1

    Do you think the surprise factor of being stung plays a role in how painful it seems? Do you react the same way to stings when you don’t expect them? I feel like the mental preparation of being stung might make the pain a bit less. Also do you think you could do the bullet ant ritual they always talk about on TV where they fill gloves with bullet ants and wear them for however long it is without wincing?

    • @JacksWorldofWildlife
      @JacksWorldofWildlife  2 роки тому +1

      It is probably the biggest factor in my opinion. Idk about wincing, but could definitely do it with less theatrics than Coyote had with one sting lol
