I still watch her to this day to keep my husband happy..im an American woman..my husband is jamaican...and these older videos come in handy for me..thank you and bless her soul
My mother use to cook us fish tea after we got back from fishing... most of the fish caught were TINY but the fish tea was ADDICTIVE... it had a lot of flavor in it.
I enjoyed watching this video. U reminded me of my grandmother who has been gone for 18yrs now. It was a pleasure. I haven't fish tea in so long. Every time I attempt to get it, it's sold out. Thank u for this recipe
Thanks for sharing very delicious and easy very informative I learnt something new on how to cut green plantain from u and how to filet a fish blessings to you take care
Awesome recipe, just the ting after a few drinks! This recipe is the tastiest I have found and so quick and simple to make. Most fish tea I've tried here in Cayman is more like fish tea rundown, overcooked and approaching porridge. What a delightful refreshing soup. Never imagined fish tea could be so simple and taste soooo good. Many thanks!
The head is the best part of the fish for me Ms. Deleon I love your channel, it's like cooking with my Grammy. Your doing an excellent job. I am a Bahamian who loves variety so I will be trying your lovely dishes and will report back to you with my results just as soon as I get into this wedding dress. Thank you soo much for taking the time to document your culinary works.
Thanks for the recipe ! It's my first time attempting this. Would have asked my mom quickly how to but the time difference between Jamaica and UK is as such that I needed a quick fix. Will definitely follow more of your recipes.
Miss faye you are looking good i made your fish tea is very good but when my mom used to make it for my grandma she had heart trouble she would only put fish skellion and thyme and chayote and feed it to her as a tea or broth you remind me of my people god bless u wish u much prosperity
If you ever read this, as this video is a few years old... Can I ask why you put margarine/butter in your fish tea please? I noticed you did this with the beef soup as well (which I made and was absolutely delicious)! Thank you!
Allso, it's the first time I seen green banana in a soup before that's why I can't wait to try this recipe out on my family...always looking for new and interesting recipes instead of the same old mundane meals. I truly love your recipies..Did the Salted cod and Ackee with home make dumplings and it came out great..my family and friends enjoyed it so very much..each time I make a jamaican meal I take a photo of it and forward it to my son who's in the Navy. I tell him to go to UA-cam to see.
Holly Awesome, loved the various versions of this had as a kid in de islands from my Aunt. But one thing Caribbean Island people don't do is waste Fish Head, that's a no no. I know exactly what you mean on that very last clip about sucking on Fish Head lol. Awesomely delicious!
hello will you be making any videos on how to make Irish moss?? Because I have been to my local carribean takeaway and they make it without milk and add ginger to it now..
What is another name for Jamaican dr. fish? My father used to make fish tea with dr fish. But sadly he only knows it as dr. fish and I cant find it anywhere else.
Looks delicious, but when you said cho cho..I was somewhat confused..until I saw that you meant what we call a "merliton" in French/english coming from New Orleans..here we stuff them with shrimp, crabmeat, seasonings and bread crumbs..Now that's been said, what side dishes would you serve with this soup (fish tea)..would you serve over rice or just eat it alone with other side dishes..like dumplings, a nice fruit salad..what are some of your recommendations?

Though it has a much lighter broth than most Jamaican soups, generally fish tea is the meal. Definitely a quick weeknight dinner.

Carolyn L. Perkins Jamaicans usually have it by itself, but I guess you could have it with toasted bread or a nice green vegetable salad.
Some people may not know!!..but Cho Cho basically takes out the good favour the soup should get.
i love cho cho
I'll be watching out for more, I don't eat meat, veggie chunks, nor tofu, only fish and vegetables. ...thanks and big up!.....
That's great Carolyn! Please make sure to send me your photos. I'd love to see them. Just go to Contact Us on my website.
So you didnt cook the fish 1st before putting it in the pot.
Shell-Lyn Clarke not necessary. It takes about 10 minutes to cook, plus the bones were also extracted...
No bones please granny...lol.
sprat is not for fish tea
