My mother in law taught me a similar recipe with an addition of corn, chicken foot and spindles instead of flat dumplings. It's the second best thing she passed down to me next to her son. I actually made two huge pots of this yesterday for everyone. I always make festivals to go along with it. It really is the best soup ever.
I leave Jamaica I'm 2009, that was the last time I cook some soup and this video just refresh my mind now I have have everyone here licking their fingers. Big up your self nuf nuf love you
I love her!!! She just resemble that aunty everyone has and loves to go over their house to eat. Good Job! I love to cook and do it well however, I love learning new tips and different way of cooking Jamaican dishes. I have enjoyed all of yours so far.. I know so because it's almost as if I can smell it trew mi laptop den mi mout start salivating.. den mi go cook it... keep up the good work Aunty! :)
What would I do without this channel? I am a mum of 8, five of which are girls, and after my dad's mum went 'back home' and my mum's mum passed away I've not had anyone to teach me and my girls how to cook Yard style! My mum is the best natural cook but she hated it when she was young, hence why she doesn't remember a lot of the traditional methods. Your channel is a lifesaver and the best on Tube. Thanks!
i love to watch you cook, i am from Antigua so i know how to cook most of the foods i see you cook, but what i love most is to watch you prepare the dishes a little different than i do, so that's what i am learning, thanks for sharing , god bless you and your family. i now live in Alaska.
🤗🇯🇲❤She is so calm and sweet..real authentic Jamaican woman. She tek mi back to the good ole days when cooking was simple and parents cooked with love.❤🇯🇲🙏
i looooove jamaican foods. caribbean as a whole since i am from there. i started watching these videos to sharpened my kitchen skills and i have gotten better results. This one was my best yet
This looks good but I am a Jamaican and I have never seen anyone cook chicken soup by adding spaghetti or can of soup never...we use Grace or Maggie chicken flavour noodle soup mix (Dried) and we chop the chicken in small pieces and never remove them during the cooking process...celery? no...guess there are many different variations.
Femboi the Cleric I understand that as I am living in London England at the moment. However, if you are calling this Jamaican Chicken Soup it would be great to mention any substitutions or variations.
I am aware of the fact that she is living overseas so am I...but if you are going to call this Jamaican cooking use the correct ingredients or mention where you have made changes. I am sorry but I am Jamaican who knows how to cook and I totally hate when people cook like this and call it Jamaican. Do you know how much rubbish are being cooked that is now being called Jamaican cooking? This is NOT Jamaican cooking. ..sorry to offend but I stand by my words 100%...Find the correct ingredients and the correct method before recording...or just do not label it as being Jamaican...simple...
ZenM3000 Zen Jamaican cooking isn't just based upon how you know it I was Alittle shocked as well but Jamaican soup can make without the cock flavored soup packet if I don't have it personally I use Maggie Cube sometimes Alittle curry powder and break up spaghetti noodles tastes just the same. Also, celery I was again shocked about but it's also about preference I know Jamaicans who don't like yam so won't use it or potatoes so will you consider it less Jamaican or traditional? Or if they use something to substitute it or other ingredients will you shame them for it or consider it less then?
Greetings from New Zealand. For years I have made English styles chicken soup. It was ok, but I would quickly get sick of it, couldn't wait until it was all finished, and it would many months before I would make it again. I only made it two or three times a year. Then I came across your channel, and found your Jamaican chicken soup. I'm really not a big fan of pumpkin, but went ahead and made it the way you did, with the pumpkin. Tinned soups are little expensive here, but the Maggie Two Minute Noodles are really cheap, and I always have a couple packets of the chicken ones on hand, so I used a packet of those instead. It was the best chicken soup I have ever had! Instead of being sick it after a few days, I was disappointed when it was all finished, and immediately made another batch. Now I always have it on hand, some in the fridge, some in the freezer, making a new pot immediately when the last lot is all eaten. And finally a way I like pumpkin! Who would have guessed! Thank you for making this wonderful video, and the many others I have watched since.
Wow you are really blessed to have your mum cook for you all these beautiful foods. Look at all the nutritious good food Mama has been eating in her life no wonder her skin looks so beautifal and fresh it's true that black don't crack. You are a God blessed family
You are righr on time with thus one. Everybody.in my house is sick and I've been searching for the perfect chicken soup recipe. Thanks a lot I'm making this this week!
just like to mention if you're going to use (condensed chicken soup) you might want to watch the amount of salt you add. condensed soup have a whopping 890 mg of sodium. probably you could use a low sodium condensed soup . not criticizing the condensed soup everyone cook differently, Jamaica have only fourteen parishes but recipes varies for many different reason !! but surprisingly the taste is very similar. "nice video" . the freshness of the ingredients is what make Jamaican Chicken Soup sooooooo good and cooking it on a good wood fire
I have never heard of adding a can of chicken noodle soup into a pot of Jamaican soup - ever. We also never removed the chicken at any point during cooking. The chicken would have been cut up prior to starting to cook. And we never used oversized dumplings , instead we made spinners. They are far smaller and more appropriate for soup. We also added the package of Graces Cock Soup mix (dry) or Grace Pumpkin soup mix (dry).
Mama can cook! Everything looks so wonderful! Such a lovely woman. Thank you for dishes. I am having fun cooking them. My two sons are enjoying every bite!
Grandma Fay, thank you for this recipe, it turned out so well me and my hubby had it two weekends in a row!! I will definitely be following your other recipes!! You are appreciated :)!
This is great! My mother in-law showed me how to make this dish but she uses corn on the cob also, its absolutely amazing! Haven't had it in a while so I'll be making this real soon. Thanks for sharing!
My family loves your soup recipe and they always want me to make it. I'm actually making it again for the umteenth time right now :) also I'm glad that you walk us through. I forgot to take out the chicken once and it was overcooked and too shredded. I substitute the condensed soup for Grace cock soup thou. :) Yum!!! love your recipe!
I love your chicken soup,i love texture the look and the presentation everything seems well done i love how you went through the process by talking step by step. Your home made soup looks nice and i bet it taste nice too,i love your cooking
I find it interesting that most of the Caribbean has the same recipes - just under different names and slightly different ingredients - This is basically just Sancocho ( a puerto rican soup) Also West Indian "Green seasoning" Is basically just Sofrito - ( however the base herb in green seasoning is Parsley not cilantro like in the Latin version ) I think these similarities come down to the shared history of cooking traditions of the enslaved Africans that were on all the islands in the Caribbean ONE LOVE ... and thanks for the recipe
Can’t wait to try this recipe tommorow .....I tried your peppered steak 🥩 recipe and it was delicious 👍🏻👍🏻 thanks for sharing xx From London England 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Love your videos. I can't wait for the oxtails soup too my husband is from Kenya he loves oxtails. Please I will be watching. I love the way you and your daughter interact reminds me of my mother. Good wishes to you guys!
I made this the other day and it is so gorgeous! I am following a weight-loss program and I adapted the recipe to fit and it was STILL lovely! Would love a mutton recipe (if you haven't done one already!) Thanks Fay! X
Chicken soup is, probably, the most soothing and healing food, if not one of, on the planet...For me, though, while I love pumpkin soup, I prefer the heartyness, taste and texture of a rich, well made pumkin beef or red peas soup with beef and/or pig's tail...Haven't tried lamb soup, yet, but, hope to, soon...The latter is a great, healthy alternative to beef soup.
Love this recipe. Not packet soups which are full of salt and chemicals - not good for you as each packet contains salt. Yes my mum had used the condensed soup (Heinz) and also added corn on the cob. Will definitely use your recipe. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Mom is wonderful cook, I like jamaican food. I'm unable to get good food in the Pacific Northwest! No carribean culture here at all love ya'll keep the videos coming.
+Garry Perkins 3:20 --> I do the exact same thing and remove the full chicken pieces (bone-in with skin), and bone and skin the chicken before adding back. It makes the stock better and you do not need to add oil because you have the skin. I am loving this channel.
You know everyone is bashing her for using condensed chicken noodle soup for the flavoring but maybe she doesn’t have access to Maggie’s where she lives so that’s the next best thing I can tell you where I live right now Maggie’s is not in my grocery store and I so wish it was but the can of chicken noodle is a very good substitute
Hoping you will see this comment. So today I decided this would be the PERFECT meal for such a cold day. I live in San Antonio and of course they dont cater to Jamaican cruise. Do you think I could use some pumpkin soup as a possible substitute since I cannot find it here? Thank you

In Haiti we also have a pumpkin soup not quite the same but close enough to yours. We call it " Soup Joumou" it is a very good
That’s because it’s really the soup joumou derived from Haiti during the Haitian revolution minus the chicken. And it’s not called Jamaican squash.
i love that soup!
