what is the best budget drone around $200? I am looking for something with flight time 15 minutes or more and long distance - at least 500 meters from me that has camera and is not too loud. I don't need fancy camera 720p would be enough for me. can you recommend me something like that?
I've had my X8 Pro since February 2018 . I've never had the problems everyone else seems to be having , probably because if you read the manual , it says quite plainly , if you get that 'toilet bowl' wobble the compass isnt calibrated propperly . Before every flight (every flight) I calibrate the compass , then use the one button take off , and watch it for a minute or so , if it hovers in a stable manner it's good to go , any toilet bowl effect means it wasnt calibrated correctly . Ive also made a sling with some nylon string , just 4 lenghts 24 inches long tied into a loop to hold and made some wire hooks for the ends , then I suspend the drone and gently and slowly rotate horizontally clockwise , then suspend it vertically and rotate clockwise ,again gently and slowly until the lights go solid . Calibrating it in this manner seems to do the trick and it flies perfectly . I also noticed the return to home feature didnt work for you , once again , not calibrated propperly . Please dont take this the wrong way , but so far all I've seen is bad reviews for this model , I'd suggest first off , read the manual........all of it , and dont be in such a hurry to get the thing in the air , take your time calibrating , dont calibrate it anywhere near power lines , or over concrete that probably has steel reinforcing , make sure you dont have your phone in your pocket , or anywhere near it , make sure youre not anywhere near a lot of metal (like your car) . After youve done the calibration , check and make sure it's hovering nice and stable . It sounds like a lot of messing around , but , it's all there in the manual , raed it , follow the instructions and it works as it should

Hi. I own this particular Drone and I must say that I have not experienced any issues or problems as you and others have commented. I have successfully calibrated the GPS and calibrated the Gyro (Which people forget to do) . Mine takes off and hovers in one place with none of the so called toilet bowl effect. I understand that you need to do the calibrations in an anti clockwise direction. I personally would highly recommend this drone. To all that have issues, read the manual properly and calibrate it properly then you won't have any problems, don't press and hold the RTH button, you only need to press it once. Also you have to calibrate the on board Gyros, to do this you push both sticks towards the bottom right, lights flash fast then push both sticks towards the bottom left, lights flash slowly. After that it should remain stable in hover as the Gyros are stabilising the craft. It is a fantastic bit of kit. Yes it can be twitchy, but that is to be expected from a precision sensitive piece of equipment. I love mine and love flying it. It also looks stunning both stationary and in the air. Go ahead a buy it you won't be disappointed at all. Just remember to read, and read the manual properly and you won't have any issues, even with the camera and my phone attached in WiFi mode. ☺️ 👍
Years ago, my first drones were brushed Symas. I've since moved on to building race quads and using a Mavic for long range fpv. It's sad to see they've stuck with brushed motors and only added gps to the old X8.

It WAS a great drone, it really was! Most sold quad, most modded, spareparts were everywhere when I got into the hobby. X5C was the poor man's DJI Phantom. But even the old Aeosemna 0035 is still better than this X8.
I have a X8HW Drone and I love it I have crashed it many times but if you have the extra cash for spare parts it's worth while to have the Drone and have fun flying it
It’s a pity Syma put this on the market with bad issues. If it comes down from height it could cause serious injuries, my x8c is fantastic but Syma you marketed a bad one, great video.
Looks like they were happy making the motor change the same as the old X5C. Always ended up losing some screws. I have the old X8C and she is still going and operates perfectly. Looks like they tried to go cheap on a bunch of new options. To bad. Thanks for sharing.

Darryl, might be they just are playing with technologies they haven't mastered yet. That said, they shouldn't have released this one into the market until they got it right.
MJX has a gimbled GPS quad coming and they have been hitting it out of the park with their releases for the most part. Hopefully Syma will feel the competition and get it together.
No "Follow Me" and "Point Of Interest" features? For the same price as the Global Drone X183, I would go with the X183, that one has a 1080P clear HD camera with Dual GPS and can fly 400M away, and "Follow Me" and "Point Of Interest" features which is the point of having a blogging drone.
For the money it should have 1080p and telemetry. I have yet to see a review where it worked. It would seem that they would of fixed it by now or at least address the issues on their website, but they are just ignoring the situation. They may of had a few good quads out there, but I guess they don't mind a black eye.

I never imagined that my old X8C from 2015 would still be flying today in 2020... I have a huge stash of replacement parts that I never got to use. It's very reliable. I did replace some props and lipo batteries in the years since, but it's amazing for the cheap quadcopter that it is.

Yeah the X5C was a hit..back in the days when GPS in consumer drones was a new thing and people did not expect gimbals to work flawlessly. By 2018 standards, their products cannot be considered reliable, I am afraid.

I have one of these I bought from someone who found it where ever it ended up as a fly away. Too bad it ain't worth buying a tx n batteries for it. Other than a couple scuff marks on the front arms where it made it's last autonomous landing it's kinda nice looking n makes a nice trophy. Had the battery in it. How do you charge it?? Proprietary charger??
He was in trouble with the GPS, the light did not stop flashing. But the gps is working, because when I hit the "go to home" it comes back. but when he's facing the front, I put the front back, he starts to roll. But if you turn the front to the right or left it remains paralyzed. You know what that might be?

I wonder how much the camera is affecting this by the wifi signal, no rf shield doesnt help. I want to sort this out and let syma know how to fix there poor design.
I have this same model, from day one the batteries only give me between 2-3 minutes of flight time, so by the time I get the thing calibrated, I barely get it in the air and it returns home, flight times are usually under 2 minutes. Super disappointing and I barely ever fly it, pretty much a waste of money.
When did you purchase it? This drone was produced over three years ago. If you purchased it recently, its LiPo batteries would likely be expired. LiPo batteries only last about three years, even if new in box.
@@Quadcopter101 thanks for the reply. It was purchased new in December 2019, first week or so flights lasted around 2-3 minutes, and got worse after a couple of flights. Came with two batteries and both are the same. I had always wondered if I purchased it with bad batteries, probably the case.

Hi there. Can someone tell me when I do the original configuration, why I only get orange and red lights. My battery is fully charged and everything connected the way how should be. When I press take off, just hoovering very quickly and does not move. Do I have to do anything else with the stick??? Once I pushed up the left stick after I hit take the take off bottom...started to move left and rolled over! What i am doing wrong? Please help!!!!
There are two shapes of propellers, clockwise and counter-clockwise, that must be installed on corresponding CW or CCW motors. If installed on the wrong motors, the quadcopter will flip, fly sideways, or will not takeoff. Take a close look at the following picture and compare the propellers and their installation to your drone. @@Quadcopter101 Thank you. I will try that. I compared your photo with mine and there are two propellers which are not on the same motors as on yours. I mean, all propellers fit on all motors, and that is very confusing me. LOL. Although I am still not getting what to do with the wrench, I received in the package. In the video, I have to tighten the red transparent circle-shaped ( I do not know what is the name of that ) but all 4 seems very well fitted on the top of the motor. I will try the way how you said. Hi I just bought this model at a thrift store but it has the fixed 1080P camera also it didn't have the controller, can I use my other Syma controllers or do I need this exact one also how can I get a controller thanks.

Mine does not wobble at all. And you need to use the syma fly app not fpv. I can see all GPS data, distance height and speed. I even see a little Google map. And return home also never failed me.

Hey, when i connect my phone to the drone and then start the syma fly app, I can see the fpv but cant control anything, and I don't even see little google map
@@heklar7516 you can't control the drone with it. You still need the controller for that. But why you don't see a map I don't know, when I installed it it was already there in the bottom right corner. Maybe check you app settings maybe you'll find something there.
ANyone else got one that refuses to start? All the pre-flight (pairing and calibration, even camera controls) works, but neither of the three methods for starting the motors does anything. Am I the problem or should I chuck it out the window and forget it ever existed?

@@Starlance_ Yep, just let it sit for a while outside in the open (no overhanging trees or nearby buildings which may block satellite signals). Wait until the lights turn green indicating sufficient satellites to take off. It may take up to 15 minutes for its first lock-on to discover that it's no longer in china. But all lock-ons after that should be very fast.
@@Quadcopter101 So even after getting solid green GPS indication, motors still refuse to talk to me. I even made sure the batteries were freshly charged. :/
@@Starlance_ Do you first connect the controller to the drone by moving the left stick full up then full down. You should hear a beep on the controller and the drone's front lights should stop blinking.
Ok?? Didn't you watch this video, and others? And as long you flying it, and try not to use GPS function, well then i guess everything works. But this is a GPS quad, at some point you might need GPS. And when that happens, you actually dont know, what it will do. Som people had fly aways. This is a big bird and kinda heavy. So if this flew away right at a house, at a person, animal. The only reason for why this people that reviewed this bird can kinda easy take controll over it doesnt mean its a safe quad. Its actually many unexperienced fliers who bought this thing. What would happen if they got this problems when it comes to GPS? Probably they wouldnt know what to do, and something bad would happen. As long as you know what to do, like Quadcopter101 here, its controllable. I mean its obviuous why this bird isnt ok to sell, so to be honest, dont really understand how anyone could question, why? And I'm ok i know you aint rude. BUt its a strange question.

I really like Syma, and I want them to recover from this one and get it right. They are the standard for good cheap toy quads, but they need to offer some products that go beyond that level. This, however, was a miss.

And you don't just connect the transmitter to the drone (to start the compass calibration), you also need to arm the motors as per instructions.

Honestly I think everyone should learn to fly on the x5c it was my first drone I had and it teaches you to be more precise. Now flying dji is a breeze

Me To X8G with gimbal and 11.1v lipo works fine for me for Arial videos.

It's not hooked up right smh. You can tell by the propeller not spinning.

Yeah, it's all proprietary on this model. It's GPS is also not dependable (terrible actually), probably explaining it being a lost drone.

I wonder how much the camera is affecting this by the wifi signal, no rf shield doesnt help. I want to sort this out and let syma know how to fix there poor design.
I have this same model, from day one the batteries only give me between 2-3 minutes of flight time, so by the time I get the thing calibrated, I barely get it in the air and it returns home, flight times are usually under 2 minutes. Super disappointing and I barely ever fly it, pretty much a waste of money.
When did you purchase it? This drone was produced over three years ago. If you purchased it recently, its LiPo batteries would likely be expired. LiPo batteries only last about three years, even if new in box.
@@Quadcopter101 thanks for the reply. It was purchased new in December 2019, first week or so flights lasted around 2-3 minutes, and got worse after a couple of flights. Came with two batteries and both are the same. I had always wondered if I purchased it with bad batteries, probably the case.

Hi there. Can someone tell me when I do the original configuration, why I only get orange and red lights. My battery is fully charged and everything connected the way how should be. When I press take off, just hoovering very quickly and does not move. Do I have to do anything else with the stick??? Once I pushed up the left stick after I hit take the take off bottom...started to move left and rolled over! What i am doing wrong? Please help!!!!
There are two shapes of propellers, clockwise and counter-clockwise, that must be installed on corresponding CW or CCW motors. If installed on the wrong motors, the quadcopter will flip, fly sideways, or will not takeoff. Take a close look at the following picture and compare the propellers and their installation to your drone. @@Quadcopter101 Thank you. I will try that. I compared your photo with mine and there are two propellers which are not on the same motors as on yours. I mean, all propellers fit on all motors, and that is very confusing me. LOL. Although I am still not getting what to do with the wrench, I received in the package. In the video, I have to tighten the red transparent circle-shaped ( I do not know what is the name of that ) but all 4 seems very well fitted on the top of the motor. I will try the way how you said. Mine does not wobble at all. And you need to use the syma fly app not fpv. I can see all GPS data, distance height and speed. I even see a little Google map. And return home also never failed me.
Well keep in mind that this video and this drone are over two years old. Hopefully Syma corrected these issues by now.

Hey, when i connect my phone to the drone and then start the syma fly app, I can see the fpv but cant control anything, and I don't even see little google map
@@heklar7516 you can't control the drone with it. You still need the controller for that. But why you don't see a map I don't know, when I installed it it was already there in the bottom right corner. Maybe check you app settings maybe you'll find something there.

ANyone else got one that refuses to start? All the pre-flight (pairing and calibration, even camera controls) works, but neither of the three methods for starting the motors does anything. Am I the problem or should I chuck it out the window and forget it ever existed?

@@Quadcopter101 So the problem is me, I just noticed they light up orange, not green. Would've been nice if it was stated in the manual, but it could've just gotten lost in translation.

@@Starlance_ Yep, just let it sit for a while outside in the open (no overhanging trees or nearby buildings which may block satellite signals). Wait until the lights turn green indicating sufficient satellites to take off. It may take up to 15 minutes for its first lock-on to discover that it's no longer in china. But all lock-ons after that should be very fast.
@@Quadcopter101 So even after getting solid green GPS indication, motors still refuse to talk to me. I even made sure the batteries were freshly charged. :/
@@Starlance_ Do you first connect the controller to the drone by moving the left stick full up then full down. You should hear a beep on the controller and the drone's front lights should stop blinking.
Syma should recall all product of this one.. can make some people danger when crash down.

I love my Syma X8HG, but this thing is a lemon. With all that gyrating around, they should call this one the Elvis model.

Ok?? Didn't you watch this video, and others? And as long you flying it, and try not to use GPS function, well then i guess everything works. But this is a GPS quad, at some point you might need GPS. And when that happens, you actually dont know, what it will do. Som people had fly aways. This is a big bird and kinda heavy. So if this flew away right at a house, at a person, animal. The only reason for why this people that reviewed this bird can kinda easy take controll over it doesnt mean its a safe quad. Its actually many unexperienced fliers who bought this thing. What would happen if they got this problems when it comes to GPS? Probably they wouldnt know what to do, and something bad would happen. As long as you know what to do, like Quadcopter101 here, its controllable. I mean its obviuous why this bird isnt ok to sell, so to be honest, dont really understand how anyone could question, why? And I'm ok i know you aint rude. BUt its a strange question.

Shouldn't be.. If you calibrate it so bad like in the video, you get a bad drone. Duh... Just freakin' calibrate and it's a trustworthy drone.

I really like Syma, and I want them to recover from this one and get it right. They are the standard for good cheap toy quads, but they need to offer some products that go beyond that level. This, however, was a miss.

I think the problem is the gyro. When I calibrate this thing I must turn it 20x or more till the red light shine state. Never I would buy it again.
I wonder if something is causing interference with the compass, such as a nearby wire or piece of metal.

Wow! That's terrible! So after doing the GPS dance, which shouldn't be necessary anyway, and calibrating the Gyro it performs a Cyclone Maneuver all on it's own? Hehehehehe....this must be an undocumented feature ;-) I'd stay way from this one. Thanks for the video and Happy Flying!
