3 years later and I’m looking back on old HTD vids while I work on my own shit! Love it
By far one of the best diesel channels on UA-cam, awesome content and extremely informative, thank you guys!
Thanks for watching! means alot!
Very informative and helpful! Need to do a set of springs and rods in mine soon so I can not be scared to hit my 4k limiter!
Dang the 07 has come a long way in the last year! I am just revisiting this video before doing studs and injectors on my 07 5.9. Thanks again for the content.
Loving these videos man. You get the point across while teaching. Keep up the good work!
Glad you are digging them!
Excellent video. Will be doing valve springs and pushrods on my vp truck soon
Congrats on going over 1000 subs Josh!
Thank you!
"Those injectors smell a lot like china" 😂
I can't confirm it but they do look the part!
Careful when handling! You might catch coronavirus!
The copper spray style anti sieze works so well for doing the head studs it’s what I’ve done for years after watching a Cummins guy use copper cote on everything on the Cummins engine saying this is what we use. Well after all my tests the copper cote gives the most consistent torque measurement and I measured the bolt stretch to see the variance and the copper cote went right to .0065 stretch every time
Very well done... I am burning oil with no blow by. So it is either my Turbo or those Valve seals.... I will do both....
Very nice job! ARP is the way to go!
Thank you! Couldn’t agree more.
I use the freeze plug style on those cab grommets so I use an Allen to get those out cuz every time they go into the cowl with me. The back one for sure
great video, nice work !!
New to your channel and looking for my first 5.9. Great vid thanks
Best of luck on the hunt!
Been waiting for this as I am doing this in couple weeks on my 12valve with all PDD parts that you recommend me
Not a hard job just time consuming.
Just in the middle of installing my 625s and followed ARP Tq procedure and ARP Lube and also followed this youtube video to confirm doing it right in my 17 6.7L Hoping I dont have to do re torque Torqued to 100 then 125 the final to 150 lb/ft
should be golden!
I welded a longer rod on my dial indicator and stick it through the injector hole you can find tdc easily. And with a degree wheel can make marks on it for your truck so you only have to do it once
You helped me another video the other night about turbos for my truck, you recommended the fleece cheetah. Will I need to upgrade the rods and springs with that since I don't plan on going over 700horse? I thought I could keep them stock but I have friend telling me otherwise. But he doesnt work on diesels so hes not 100% sure. I figured I could do it when I do the studs and injectors. Speaking of injectors I don't know anything about how much flow I need. I thought 50hp injectors would but good? But I really dont know as far as they go. Would stock injectors keep up with 650ish horse? Thanks boss you been real helpful so far. I appreciate it and I absolutely subbed to the channel. Also with the studs I plan on just doing the 2000s since they are a lot cheaper than the 625s and I feel like those would be overkill for me. Im trying not to go very expensive on this truck but Since I just dropped $7500 on the trans I might as well build up so I can use it to its full potential.
Nice video as usual ! 🤘🏻
Thank you!!!
Thanks for the videos !!
And that’s the fuel line that always break because of the bolt backing out and going on vacation! Have a 06 and always check it.
Glad it helped!
Great video man
Appreciate it
Great video and info. What is the power threshold where it would be advisable to replace the gasket with an o-ring set up in addition to the head studs? How much time did all of this take in real-time?
I did head studs, valve springs, and pushrods in about 4-5 hour. Really a fire ring should be used for what we are doing.
Heck no I'm not bored a I gotta suggestion if you have a 6.7 block and a 5.9 block do a video on the deck height and bore size crank rod length piston pin location on both engine if you have the time I haven't seen no video on that and thanks for my part I ordered from you I received them today
Yes we can do one on the different types of blocks!
My son seen Myer sitting in the corner and said "what's Myer doing in the corner, looking for a girlfriend on Tinder?" Hahaha this kid 😂😂
We got a good laugh!
Somewhere in the tinder profile it probably says must have diesel! Lol..
It says looking for girl with nice Cummins truck and trailer. Please send pics of you with truck and trailer.
Will the valves fall through on these engines ? Or do you have to pressurize the cylinder?
Nice work , I had read on the forums about pulling the bolts on at a time and installing studs but I was not sure if that would work. Apparently so . So does this increase the clamping force or just have better fasteners to resist the lifting forces from the added boost or both. I probably never going to build a race truck butI so what is the limit of rpm on a stock bottom end on say a 12 valve if you got good valve control . Is a fluid balancer a good investment even on a stock engine for a owner that wants to get a good life cycle out of there engine thanks again
3200 rpm on a stock 12v valve train is all I recommend without upgraded valve springs.
You can do the one at a time method but if it blows you’ll just have to re do it.
Are the holes blind or do they tap into coolant/oil? Should you use thread sealant or doesn't matter?
Cool video 👍🤟
Loved it
I had to pause after seeing that barring tool setup. Can you please post this setup and how you have it in the bell house from there. This could be the answer to all my problems.
I'm thinking baring tool 3/8 wobble long extension and ratchet
My truck is 2006 my turbo is t4 fleece 4.64 i blow head gasket.....do you recommend to upgrade push rod for sure im goin to do head studs and valve spring but no sure about push rod. Suggestions??
Doing a pretty dang good job explaining things. Can't film that hole under the cowl panel with a huge $10,000 camera.
Thank you!
Great video! 🦅🇺🇲
Glad you enjoyed it
Remember if you pull ur injectors out they need to go back in the same location unless you are putting new ones in then you have to do injector relearn
Is this on a stock cam or did the cam get updated? If not when would you look into updating the cam? What kind of rpm do you plan to turn on a stock cam?
Stock cam can do 1000hp no problem
What valve stems seals did you use? I am a bit confused on the seals available. Umbrella and positive stop. I went with Manton valve springs. About to do all of this work to my 06’
I have a 2011 6.7 I have an S366 and I'm going to replace my injectors. I want to keep the stock injection pump, so I'm not gonna go too crazy, probably 100hp. I'll also be doing 625's. While I'm in there I want to do valve springs and pushrods. I already have custom tuning with an autocal, so are valve springs the only thing preventing me from going to higher RPM?
Push rods as well
Thanks, bud...
Any time!
When doing studs one at a time do you release pressure from cooling system
No sir, engine was stone cold no pressure in the upper radiator hose.
Do you do any hot re torques or not? Great videos 👌🏻
Not on a factory gasket, only fire rings, or an oring gasket
How many miles on engine? No need to do head gasket? I’m doing similar set up and want to know if I need to do my head gasket. I have 146k on my 5.9
What are the valve lashing numbers for the pushrods? Also are they the same as Hamilton extremes
.010" Intake .020" Exhaust. No these are Power Driven Diesel Stage 2 Pushrods!
I know it’s a older video but are you able to reuse the ARP625s or the 2000s?
I can't wait to for turbos and injectors to be installed
Me either! Should be a ripper
@@horsetorquesdiesel I have a 05 with ppe twin stock pumps and on3 performance compound kit with a hamilton cam, springs, and extreme pushrods and putting it back together now and am really interested how much power it will make and if I should get a 366 manifold charger from you guys. What are your thoughts
👍
If I keep my 2006 3500 stock, except for some mild tunes that boost the stock horsepower only by about 90 HP, do I still need any of these mods?
Many brands of stem seals out there.. MAHLE any good? Or back to Factory Cummins?
Mahle works great!
The mileage of this motor on the stock head gasket doesnt scare you for doing the 1 stud at a time trick? My truck has 193k and i was worried about doing it
Not really, if it blows it blows. To us just another teaching opportunity!
Also once the gasket is squished it isn’t getting any thinner by upping the pressure on the stud what your doing is increasing the tension on the stud it’s self.
Hi Josh , just wondering if you could put link to the parts in like the video description?! Would be nice.
Thank you.
Great videos By the way!! Learning allot !! Keep up.
I will do that!
Cool shit how does the 5.9 have liners that can be pulled
They don’t it’s parent bore
At what power level do you recommend fire rings?
Single turbo 1000hp
Compounds 850hp
Those are just my safe recommendations I did 1362 on a regular gasket and 625s never had an issue
Where did you get your valve seals
Is it alright to reuse your stock retainers and keepers on a 24 valve 6.7 when installing PDD's 4.5K springs? - Under 700 & 4k.
Yes sir
@@horsetorquesdiesel Appreciate it! 🍻
Would the methods be same for VP 5.9 with exception of discussion about fuel rail
Yes sir
@@horsetorquesdiesel appreciate the Guidance
So are you going for 1000hp without touching the bottom end? Or just rod bolts?
Not sure yet but probably will do rod bolts
@@horsetorquesdiesel don't want to keep the stock rod bolts so we can find out if they'll blow up? ... lol Jk
I have a 05 any tips for the front end getting the scary wobble not death yet tho
Quality front end parts
Thuren track bar
Aam ball joints
Timken or Napa HD wheel bearings
4th gen t style steering
New control arms if yours are shot
Thank you!!
How Long does it take to do valve springs and pushrods ? Is it like 8-10 hours ?
If you have a top side creeper maybe 2-3 hours. If it’s your first time I would count on it taking all day
@@horsetorquesdiesel Thanks for replying Bro ! I got Hamilton Springs and Hamilton Extreme Duty Pushrods and Billet Valve spring bridges by XDP I bought them from your shop PDDiesel ! Have to support my Peeps LOL
@@horsetorquesdiesel Yes sir I bought a topside creeper the other day off Amazon just look on my youtube page I posted me putting it together LOL
CAN I GET SOME ADVISE?
03 24V. 350k mile Michigan shitbox edition.
+70 Injector, Cheeta charger, Air Dog, Edge CT2. Everything else basically stock. My question, WHAT IS NEXT? WHAT DO I SAVE FOR?
Of course HTS Transmission. And air box.. Is the High pressure pump next or is the head gasket valve springs, push rods, head studs?
Head studs
Transmission
Valve springs
Pushrods
In that order
What torque wrench do you use
Snap on
What lock and retainers u use
in this video we used OEM
What retainers did you use with the 4.5k springs?
Oem
Ya that plate got ripped off and thrown into the lake
