I've tried unsuccesfully to refill my AC several times this is the first video I've seen explaining how you just start to spray when the compressor is turning until you get enough in the system for it to continue turning and then you can fill it. AC is blowing super cold and it took the whole can and is reading full. thank you!
Bro... AC was never my thing in the last 30 years of being an auto mechanic but THIS video has just helped me and saved me a ton of headache and money ... Thank you!
Exactly what my 2008 Duramax was doing, compressor kicking on and off, going from red to zero on the gauge. Followed your video and cleared it right up…thanks. Great video.
You saved me from a mental breakdown been trying to fix my ac for the past 2 wks.. not only did you explain everything well you also saved me a lot of money.. Thanks a lot! New subscriber
Thank you for this video! Perfect walk through & description of what was going on. My Freon was completely gone and the compressor kept pushing needle to the red. I followed your instructions and now it’s stable and filled. Very happy with the results!
Thanks for posting this. My 2008 Silverado ac was out of refrigerant and I did exactly what you did and now I'm back in business. Great video-Thank you!
My 2007 Suburban just started blowing hot air out of the blue. I saw another video where he says the pressure switch most likely needs to be replaced if this happens. I’m assuming since I’m replacing that, it would be a good idea to put some refrigerant as well?
I'm not sure, I've never had that problem. I suspect there isn't a way to change that switch though without venting the system. If that's the case, you'll get air in there (which is bad) if you don't do it with a closed recapture system. I'm not an expert on this, but I think that would be the case.
@@doingstuffwithdavid I opened the hood to replace that pressure switch and noticed the serpentine belt was missing. Problem solved. Replaced the belt now I’m back to ice cold AC.
I just bought a new pressure switch for the AC on my Suburban 2007 LTZ. I may need to do what you did here. So that’s where the refrigerant plugs in, the port closest to the yellow dip stick?!
Did you try to figure out if it was a different problem? I was just at Auto Zone and the guy said he figured I needed freon since my truck is 16 years old and I’ve never had to add Freon. Another guy said it could be 4 or 5 things. So before I bought freon I figure I’d check out what UA-camrs had to say.
Can you see if the belt is cycling the compressor on and off? I try and start with the easiest/cheapest fix first. AC systems are actually write simple and really only have a few components that can malfunction. I think regrettably recharging the system is the only easy/cheap option. Everything else requires a mechanic.
Tried to recharge my system but not successful..the gauge pegs out with the compressor off . Compressor kicks on and off idling but runs awesome going down the road...HELP PLZ
Hmmm, maybe you have the wrong refrigerant or the valve isn't seating correctly. It should kind of lock on around the valve if it's the right fit. If it's not all the way on, the valve stays closed, kind of like on a bike pump.
They do leak over time as seals and joints flex and wear our. My truck is a 2007 and has nearly 250k miles, so I felt like that was the most likely explanation, haha.
@@doingstuffwithdavid yeah, I have a 2000 Silverado with 163K. I put a full can into mine and it started working for a bit, but now it cycles on/off. The gauge is in the yellow with the engine off, so I'm assuming I need more???
@@bobbyheenan4061 You can't tell if it's charged correctly unless the engine is running and the compressor is cycled on. You have to have it running to know if you've got it charged to the right pressure.

Great, glad to hear it!!
saw a few videos on this, this is the first that actually talks about the cycling and why and what it means, and how to fill in that case. thank you!
Glad you found it useful!

Feels like 120 in my truck.
Thanks g
Glad it helped! I live in Southern California and while it's not a hot as Houston, I was also dying, haha.
Gosh you just saved me. I have an 09 duramax and had no clue why it kept going into the red zone. Ac works great now thanks to you

Worked with no flaws. Just finished. Thanks a lot bro. 😎🔥❤️
Great! Get it fixed up for summer!

Very helpful. Never did the cycle but makes sense

Why do vehicles lose or how do they lose there refrigerant?
Small leaks, especially in older systems.
What happens if i have alot of freon left over can I still use if its still liquidish?
Yep, it should keep in the bottle for a long time.
You explained everything perfectly thank you for posting this video👍
