Am I the only one getting a huge sync issue ? I can't be just me, that impossible. Anyway, I second everyone's comments that this format is awesome and should become recurring thing. By FAR the best concept that emerged from that channel. But I just can't watch it, it's basically desynced and unwatchable, what the hell.
Soundmind's entire concept gave me red flags the moment they mentioned Mental Health and AI in the same sentence. Thats a really finicky combination. That pitch was loaded with buzzwords.
Having experience in music, soundstorm is really a good idea. It’s like patreon for musician, and making the process more open.. but i feel like this will only work with independent artists or small-medium labels. Some of the music producing is top to buttom.. producers/songwriters sell their song to labels or artists. So if they can bring in this other side of the market they could break the big labels
Please do MORE of this type of content! Can't remember someone else doing this, I'm guessing it's due to the difficulty of finding founders who are willing to share their decks to get Roasted? Anyways, great video.
For the last app it would be a nice feature for them to automatically include the additional gas price/transportation cost (and maybe time investment) that would arise, if the store that would save you money on the products is farther away then the "default" store. Because I can already see the ultimate argument of some people: "Well you save on products but the additional transportation cost and time investment doesn't save you anything at all in the end"... The feature described above would be the argument against it.
This is fascinating to see. I’ve seen my old CEO’s pitch during YC demo days so kudos to these founders for putting it all out there. Justin, def keep this type of content around. You have a unique voice and people are learning from you
I loved this video, please do more of these in the future! It’s extremely helpful to see real-time constructive feedback from someone authoritative as I am also working on a startup and will have to look into funding, pitches, decks in a few months!
I’m ashamed to admit that out of the multiple times youtube suggested Justin content to me...THIS is the one I clicked on. And it was in the hopes of watching him draaaaaag these decks. I was not disappointed.
This is your best video yet! I have pitched multiple times (including Shark Tank in the US and VN), and always hope for any feedback. For us, the feedback has significant implications. Thanks for taking your time to give back with your experience and great advice!
Hi Justin, I have been watching your videos for quite a while. Going through the fundraising process myself, I found it extremely useful for you to give speak your mind out loud through these various decks. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Agreed its good to show people the reality of the other side reviewing these… reality is that it’s way harder than most people imagine to get the ball moving.
best channel on youtube. and we're here with access to the guru before it blows up and we never have contact unless you win the comment lotto. what a time to be alive
@justin This is such unique content that gives total insight into how a VC thinks. I am pretty sure no one does this on youtube or if they do, they don't have the authority that you have. I feel this will boom!!!
As a former tech investment banker and a startup strategy person, my eyes hurt from looking these decks. No hate, but respect the hustle. The point is: pls listen to Justin's feedback!
Hi Justin, this amazing, I am actually now adays preparing my pitch deck and this was very helpful, the one thing I need is more :D ?more of these videos ! thanks again
Please do more of these. Can’t believe this is the type of pitch decks you get, man I would have thrown them in the trash right away. But I guess that’s the difference between consulting and Vc
1. love that the startup teams got to respond - humanizes everyone involved. feel bad for the guy who decided to move on, but hey, maybe he's got 3 bangers in the arsenal. 2. this *has* to be an ongoing series. super insightful & helpful. 3. how do we submit?????
the guy who decided to quit had a great idea imho, Justin is really underrating the number of people who sitting around answering stuff just to feel good about themselves, and yea if you added in like $1 payment I think you'd get tons of people
appreciated the candid thought process and I'm sure combing for reasonable/presentable/interesting decks was difficult but am curious about team diversity, especially given the leverage this channel provides
The "bad" pitch decks on this make my pitch deck look like a trash fire hahaha Interesting Video Justin, would be keen to see you do more of these reviews 🙂
This is a pretty good vid Justin! I just thought of a cool idea. Would you be willing to make a video about what an "effective pitch deck" looks like. Potentially showing a past company you have invested in a while ago that is already public or just successful. Show that pitch deck and talk about what made you invest in the firm. Thanks!
Great video, Justin! Been listening to your podcast for a while and decided I should check out your UA-cam! Thanks for providing so much value from your experiences with us!
Yup, like everyone else has said in the comments. This is a great video. It showcases your unique expertise from YC coupled with real interactions with young start up hustlers. More of this type of content indeed! 👍🏽
My favorite was the one about solving bugs. The idea is great and I agree that users should be _paid_ for solving the bugs. It seems to me that StackOverflow has a solid reputation system in place that could be leveraged by their users to provide services in the form of answering questions. I think the novel, original questions take care of themselves: they get answered for free just so users can gain the reputation. The questions that come from potential clients are the repetitive ones. These I believe come from users who don't want to invest the time on researching (even StackOverflow itself, as their question was _already_ answered): they represent the best candidates for clients, as they may be willing to pay for a solution, delivered by a user that has reputation to show (in place, on the platform). Besides earning money as they provide services, these users would be "cleaning" the platform from the so unwanted repeated questions---win-win. Maybe this could be outsourced somehow?
A HUGE thank you to all the startups for sending me their decks for me to give feedback on! Which one was your favorite?
Still watching it but base on the intro this video looking lit!
Obviously SoundMind!!!
Topsaving and stackhub sounds like a good startup, as for neat and soundmind abit meh.
Topsavings
Support like/commented 😎
You should definitely make this a recurring series on your channel.
Agree 👍
Definitely!
Yes please 😁😁
Agree
Indeed
Justin,
I vote for this to become a regular feature on your channel. I think over time it can help people build much better decks.
I second this
MORE OF THIS - It was both hilarious and actually very instructive. It almost felt like a more relatable version of Shark Tank.
more relatable shark tank - well said.
True! Like a sharktank that can actually help startup founders
super quiet audio once you get to reviewing. had all my volume sliders maxed and still struggling to hear.
100% Agree. Skipped the video after 1:56 because of audio. Justin, request you to upload next video with a better audio quality. Thanks..
I agree as well. I usually have my ear buds on near-max volume in your videos
same
Agree, I had to watch this video at another time as the volume was too low
thought it was just my setup. audio is really really low
Last guys reaction was like he was held hostage lmao
lol
Hahaha
Dude keep doing this. Startups almost never get meaningful feedback from their decks. It’s great to see inside the mind of someone of your caliber
I think this needs to be like a monthly or bi-weekly type of content. So many founder will find something like this extremely beneficial
when you are looking for seed funding but already got that Patagonia jacket for the whole team ;)
And the titles on the jacket... Tools
@@Loaatao criiiiiinge
And now on the thumbnail of the video 😂
From 2:56, we learn Justin's 3 favorite things are
1. Weed
2. Psychedelics
3. Memes
thank you justin
This was one of those videos where I sat down and didn't even notice this time fly by. Great video Justin!
lol "disconnected rich guy" brilliant.
This video was seriously good to see that kind of candid feedback.
Am I the only one getting a huge sync issue ? I can't be just me, that impossible.

By FAR the best concept that emerged from that channel.

YES
yeah same wdf, also at the beginning the fps is so bad
It was crazy, voices everywhere lol.
Soundmind's entire concept gave me red flags the moment they mentioned Mental Health and AI in the same sentence. Thats a really finicky combination. That pitch was loaded with buzzwords.
they have a shitton of advisors though...how'd they rope in so many people?
@@georgebrooking3820 they probably list everyone of some status to whom they talked about the idea…
@@LeXx0r disagree they seem like nice personable guys not so hard to believe people wanted to help them

This video was great. Brutally honest, thinking out loud. Definitely would love to see more of this format!
This is fascinating to see. I’ve seen my old CEO’s pitch during YC demo days so kudos to these founders for putting it all out there.
Justin, def keep this type of content around. You have a unique voice and people are learning from you
Really insightful feedback. My deck wasn't in this and i still learnt some dos and donts. You should definitely make more of these
Love that intro bro, "it's Justin, your favorite founders favorite founder" Big facts, my favorite founder to date
This way of helping start-ups is so fresh. Love it!!
if this become a series, I will pay to join
Please keep this as a series! super informative. Will definitely submit our Pitch Deck on the next round.
This content is great. Something I didn't know I wanted to see but love this video
Please more of this. This is unique and unlike any other content.
great segment. do more of these please. good insights.
we need Justin to do this more.

Now this is a real roast
as a ux design student who makes a lot of pitch decks for classes, your thoughts really made me realize where my mistakes were.
Hi Justin, this amazing, I am actually now adays preparing my pitch deck and this was very helpful, the one thing I need is more :D ?more of these videos ! thanks again
Justin, maybe it was your mic or it's just me but the sound in this video was low. Very hard to hear.
As a founder this is relatable and funny as all hell lol.
I completely overhauled my pitch deck because of this. Thanks, very informative
Please keep up the pitch deck roasts. It’s extremely valuable! Thanks!
your voice is so EPIC. i would definitely pay to listen to audiobooks narrated by you.
Please do more of these. Can’t believe this is the type of pitch decks you get, man I would have thrown them in the trash right away. But I guess that’s the difference between consulting and Vc

What a bro move to do this. Incredibly valuable advice for these up and coming people.
It felt like a Pre-Shark tank deal! Very informative and straight to the point, no bs!
Justin the 'collaborative' music tool you mentioned is called Splice.
I think everyone said it already but let's reinforce it. **Please make it a serie** This was just awesome!!
More Justin…we need more of this

would be very happy with this becoming a regular series
respect that you included their responses
That was really good, should have more videos like this one. Very informative.
Definitely want to see more of these!

Such a great video! Keep it up Justin
This is awesome! This is the type of content I subscribed for 🔥🔥
I have been trying to work on my deck pitch 😪it's so hard.. I really needed that video, thank you soooo much
Feels like watching shark tank or dragon’s den but very fast forward and only cuts into the main points only. Love this to be a series ❤️
Wow, this one is so fresh for me. Thank You Kan. Keep it up !
I would love a Justin Kan pitch competition!
loved it! would love to be part of your next pitch deck!

Love this series Justin! Thank you for sharing
I like this very much. More of this please!
The reviews were quite interesting to see, thanks!
How about multiple series categorized by different types of pitch decks? For example, a series for idea propositions working towards an MVP?
This is your best vid so far IMO
Please do this more!
please make more, we learn about what to focus on (and it is a big deal)
I really enjoy this one!Hopefully can see more. Appreciate that.
This is great. SWOT / roast is compelling format.
great video Justin would like to see more of these vids!
This is the content I was looking for
Hey Justin, Love your content! You should keep making videos like this one. GREAATTT IDEA!! VERY HELPFUL 🙂
u r so kool. I learn a lot of things from your feedback about their startup slide so I can avoid all of those mistakes.
Justin, this was awesome!
This is great, would love to see more.
