You are blessed to have such a friendly, open and honest VC to work with. This does not seem to be the norm in the startup world. Honestly, this was a goldmine of information on helpful tips & tricks before pitching your own product to potential investors. Be succinct. State the problem clearly. State your solution clearly. Have some real beta testers. Have some real testers. Show that you can hustle.
I work in BD for a gaming company and this was one of the most insightful videos I’ve seen on pitching and pitch building - would love to see more of this type of content please
I don’t comment a lot(trying to change that), but I have to say I don’t think I have ever seen a video like this. It’s really brings the foreign experience of interacting with VCs down to earth. Wish I could like the vid 5 times. Great content Brodie. ❤
Ahhhhh! Thank you so much for getting out of your comfort zone and commenting such kind words Lamar! Cheers man! And glad it helps! Will keep making stuff for ya
Amazing video Jay! Seriously keep this up, I’m loving the content, I recently started my own business being a second year in business school and this is something that is really keeping me going! Thank you Jay, this is very valuable!
What can I say... Excellent Content. We are doing an angel raise now and will be looking for VC funding in 6 months so this is super helpful. Keep on doing what you've been doing.
This founder/VC relationship is awesome! John, you could've hit me up for that original pitch deck design so Eurie wouldn't have to rely on your voiceover 🙂. Love the video, especially the lessons you incorporate in there - entertaining and informative. You are indeed your own customer - a true creator at heart! Wishing you and Forerunner Ventures tons of success. Stan could shake up the creator market! P.S. John asking Eurie about her thought on the last slide... Eurie: I mean, I would end it with a little more aspirational than a picture of yourself. 💥🤣
I started watching your videos a couple months ago and I've truly gained so much valuable insight into running a business. Your character and charisma is compelling and I'd love to work on the team. I'm in my first year of Computer Science right now so I hope that by the time I get some experience, y'all will still be looking at hiring developers for Stan!
I GOT HOOKED IMMEDIATELY! Really beautiful product! Man's own the full cycle. From a post-production point of view, it will be nice to have your video shot side by side with the slides for most of the part when you started roasting your slides or sharing your thoughts. That way, we will actually focus on the slides and actually feel like a teachable moment.
cheers! and thanks for the kind words! this was definitely one of my favorite videos I've made so far... so I'm trying to brainstorm more fun ones to do like this if you ever have suggestions!!
Great video. Thank you. I’m looking for angel investor myself for my start up, and can’t get over her true peace of advise: make sure you want 5 million dollars.. bc once you take its you started a marathon you can’t get off… such a subtle statement, but when you really think about it deeply, she’s completely right!! Once you get those 5 million, you have just put yourself the biggest responsibility on yourself; wow!! Literally had an epiphany!
lmaoo; a dose of reality in the beginning from the VC; careful man, if you get to Series B/C and stop delivering, you might get replaced! lmao 😂 (jk - let's hope that never happens lol)
Network bit by bit! It takes compounding and not giving up over time and you’ll build relationships! Promise! I have a video on how to get introduced to VCs if you check the channel
That $30K, is that money that your business made or is that money you made for your customers? Specifically, what what your actually revenue on those months?
The 30K GMV is how much top-line revenue his users, the 25 beta testers, generated by selling their courses/digital products/monthly memberships/etc while using Stan. If I were to guess, Stan's revenue at the time would have been $0.00 - these would probably have been just free accounts for the 25 influencers/beta-testers that he managed to convince through DMs to give it a go to use Stan to monetize their audiences simply in exchange for feedback on the product. The important thing here is that it proves that Stan brought real value to its customers (the influencers) by helping them sell $30K worth of products/services to their followers, and people are usually pretty happy to pay for a tool that helps them make money.
After you get to be a billionaire people will come watch your videos to check the comments if anyone saw the future. Well, im literally that guy. Yes people in a few years, go and reply to me how right I am.
Hey @jayhoovy, Not sure if this is too personal, but I'm interested to hear what you've exchanged for the $5M investment. Great video by the way, and perfect timing! I'm about to step into my first couple of VC interviews 🤩
@@jayhoovy Congrats man, but I'm curious: how did you get $5M for 20% with only 25 beta users? Looking at popular media "VCs" like Shark Tank, they wouldn't have been nearly as generous right?
Drop a ❤ if you want Eurie in more videos!!! (She hates doing these lol)
yes jay we need more!
Eurie is amazing! Jayhoovy, thanks for sharing and being willing to make fun of yourself.
Great vid!! I want more insight!
❤ Great video! Thanks for sharing the BTS.
❤
Pretty uncommon to see such chill healthy and fun relationship between founder and VC.
It's a new century bro keep up
@@EbrahimTarzz It has nothing to do with what century we're in lol
Not too uncommon actually.
If you have a friendly relationship with your VC it means they like you a lot, but they give up on you becoming a unicorn.
It's a youtube-video. Who know's how they are off camera.

I love and enjoy the content you make! This channel is insanely underrated.

Great content as always, keep it up Jay!
Great content and dialogue, thank you for sharing this and for your useful tips!
My problem is I can't get my deck in front of VC/Hedge Funds. How do I make those connections? Did you send the deck before meeting the VC?
Great video, after Graham Weaver interview, this didn’t disappoint! Well done.
Glad you enjoyed it doziee! Gonna do my best to keep it coming for ya!
Great vid! And incredible thumbnail 😂
I’m ex-IB. When I saw your slides, I was like ‘what are you doing?, you’re IB’ then you mentioned your VP 😂

I'm curious Jay - Did you give a live pitch? Or was it pre-recorded?
Hilarious video. Motivated to drop out of bschool now

$5M at 25M pre money valuation
