LFG 🙌🙌🙌
Thanks for doing this, Garry! You're the best!
This is 🔥
Love the collab!
Look at the difference between the thumbnails of their videos… ;)
This was an awesome collab and great video! Miss both of you guys, and incredible to see you roast some decks...
@@JustinKanTV Thanks for great insights for founders
Glad to see this is become a recurring segment on the channel. This is super helpful to new founders!
This series is both hilarious and truly instructive. It's a relatable version of Shark Tank.
Perfectly said. Whale Tank, get it? Cos whales are super smart 😂
Was not expecting to see myself in this video 😂
how was your experience with liv? lol
A refreshing take on reviewing pitch deck. Much more helpful than joining how to webinars, esp. if you’ve done a few pitches before
Garry on every team:
"Sounds like a great team"
Yeah I didn't get that either. Especially on the Joyn one, at that point its just 2 people we know nothing about, why are they a great team? Then after he mentions it would be an insta fund if the cofounder was an engineer.
That's how I do my work - early stage is all about team. "Sounds like" is uncertain, but optimistic.
Hey Justin. I have a badass app coming soon. How can I reach investors? I try so many times, emails & calling firms. Our app is about to launch.
Justin+Garry - we appreciate the feedback&roast :-) redemption arc when?
Haha success is the best redemption arc :)
5:18 while the presentation might be better, to anyone who used VR this is quite clear: it's for streamers to integrate themselves into VR games they play.
Oh yes, makes sense. I think it underscores how hard it is for someone without context to understand something from just a deck. But you have to make the deck work that way.
Seems like the liv pitch deck skips over the context of the problem.
Ex. Allows Creators to put themselves into the game giving viewers a whole new perspective to watch.
This pitch deck would work better in a room full of VR investors or VR creators
The question is: how much do you want to explain your idea to potential investors if they are not knowledgeable in the area.
* Would people invest in something they are not interested/knowledgeable in?
* Would a company even want such investors ?
@@Rizhiy13 To be fair, a single slide could have cleared up this confusion, and without sounding 'preachy' to knowledgeable people. I've even seen several livestreams by people using LIV's technology, and I still didn't realize what they were until a few slides in.
@@Rizhiy13 yes, often times part of your job is to explain your market/company to investors who aren't complete insiders. After all, there are only so many industry-specific investors (unless you're in fintech lol), so especially startups like theirs that are raising presumably larger amounts of money, a lot of that is going to come from industry agnostic investors
Thanks Garry and Justin!! This is some kind of an eye opener for all the startups who are still figuring how to present pitch decks.. Amazing stuff to watch and learn!
Glad to hear that!

2 of my fav UA-camrs! Let’s goooo
How can I get my startup pitch deck roasted by you guys? Would love to hear from experts.
Get Adblock, don't listen to Garry. Adblock is free. @Justin Kan
I just love Gary joke string in along the way
He is such a witty person
Or just save $12 and get a free ad blocker
Great stuff. I actually need to do a PPT today to pitch our idea for a university subject and this is getting me in the mode
Helpful reviews. Why not discuss both your 1st deck as presented to investors and show how you have learned from feedback?!
This isn’t roasting, this is constructive criticism at its finest 😅👌
Smart
Can build stuff
Intuition with two sided market places
Roasted. I love this. It helps us fix our pitches.
Very valuable pitch deck roast, especially now that I'm working on mine. Thank you for making the time to do this, Justin and Garry!
There's definitely a paradox of the hockey stick projections for investors; they want to hear/believe it, but if you show them a graph they'll say it's ridiculous
Exponential growth graphs? You high?
I need help!
best content on youtube right now. you and garry!
33:29 am I the only one who actually would've appreciated a troll f--- you message at the end?
Yea as an engineer I joined my founder on his journey and while he is doing non technical stuff he built a website and got a waitlist so was very happy to join him. You have to have the initiative and resourcefulness to be able to go into the unknowns and it's great that I could easily validate his comfort there before joining him.
How would I go about getting my pitch roasted?
Whoever ends their deck with a Fuck You slide should get automatic funding
Fun fact: Brave blocks the UA-cam ads.
LinkedIn style fake likes. Bet you not even thinking about invest on these companies
Justin looks like a dude who would be on Ancient Aliens
More of this please!
UA-cam missed a good opportunity to stick an ad at the 2:50 mark.
You know, it's just entertaining watching you roast startups haha
Justin Kan, shampoo advocate.
sporting that straight outta the shower sexy look hahaha
give me PDF link on this video, please
Great video, Justin. @Garry Tan can pay for your UA-cam premium 😉😆
I think it's your frugal mentality from JustinTV days
"i dont think so" i'm snapping that video reaction !! DOPE PITCH DECK!! #yolocapital
Love hearing both of your thoughts on these videos! I always watch these videos to see how I can improve my own deck!
Again, great video! Thanks, Garry, Justin. Just putting it out there - if you are in the same boat as "Joyn" (You don't have a working prototype), comment below. I can help you build your MVP without code.
Seeing Garry go critical on the UI for Hitchhiqe for not following iOS's design system made me wonder if he's partial to making an app iOS-first despite Android having most of the market share of the world. We saw how unsustainable going iOS-first was with Clubhouse. I'd like to know since I thought market share matters more so I picked up Android, but I do know how to code a bit for iOS in Swift. I'd also like to stay native instead of using Flutter or React Native
LIV pitch deck gives me anxiety, and is overwhelming with information. Which constantly has me guessing as to what am I supposed to be looking at, or what connections I should be making between all the numbers being thrown at me.
amazing how fast this channel grows, i started watching somewhere at 1k subs
Seriously though. If that last JOYN deck ended with "F*** You" instead of "We appreciate you". Would you have reached out to them at least out of sheer astonishment at that closing slide?
Actually you guys are really nice, giving constructive feedback to help these guys improve.. Roasting is more clickbait. Haha
Adblock for UA-cam chrome extension - it'll change your life.
This is the best collab ever!
Love the video haha
Justin, love these reviews. They are really useful and done really constructively as well. I am currently working on a pitch but its for a holding company with multiple business divisions, which will be launched on a staged process based on revenue. Our primary audiences are sport, property and on-line gaming so its focusing on very well established, highly profitable sectors. But with a lot to explain, especially around revenue generation as there are multiple points and global audiences, it is proving tricky to get the pitch deck down to less than 20 slides. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks. Nick
hi, my BEST friend forever. can you and Garry do pitch roasting more often. this is the BEST BEST BEST in the channel. lol
Justin this content is super insightful. From a fundraiser perspective, it’s great to see diverse and well done pitch decks. Your business analysis with Garry is doubly insightful. Great to see what works and what doesn’t in a pitch.
Cheers Justin!
Isn't the mental health company in seed stage? I thought VCs/investors don't fund companies in seed stage.
Omg. This first one is a typical lack of sales cues. Even at the end he didn't check his video coz he would have retake in the toilet for audio clarify. Poor inexcusable effort.
where do we send out decks to though? I don't see an email in the descriptio accepting it :-/
wow this deck is so confusing indeed
Fun stuff!!! Love it!!! Great feedback!
Not sure if you guys are still answering questions on this... but one question on the DAU. You mentioned is not growing fast enough in one of the deck. There are multiple reasons for that... should they call it if a company is not growing fast enough organically, or should they put more effort into a growth strategy?
What a great video! Thank you! It's awesome to hear how investors think and what they really pay attention to. I started laughing when Garry talked about those "giant dead bodies".
this is so fkng valuable
Thanks Garry and Justin! I really appreciate that you are taking the time to create this kind of content!
Justin doesn't really need to give away 10 bucks to youtube. All he has to do is install an adblocker on safari or whatever browser he is using and that is it.
I literally clicked on the cross in the UA-cam Ad inside your video (at 3:11), the same time as u did and didn't realise the Ad was inside your video and not mine xD!
The blind leading the blind
That's awesome 👏 👏 👏 👏 thank you for filming it, I've been waiting for it
I know it's tricky, but maybe can you create a video where you take a terrible pitch deck and work on it and turn it to a good pitch deck, while explaining why you make the changes?!
Those two VTech guys 👌
Even though some will say design is not the most important for an MVP, Garry’s rant @20:25 is pretty valid in the sense that you should at least TRY to follow design standards/guidelines for the device your application will run on. Reading design standards/guidelines barely take up anytime and if you’re fairly good at styling it won’t take that long to implement as well. If you still have some trouble, I would pile up the cash to get a professional freelancer to create the wireframes for you (definitely worth it) for you to implement. Curious to know if people agree or disagree :)
This was awesome! I really appreciated that Justin reached out to the actual founders of the team and let them have a chance to react. It's a great way to show support!
Thank you very much Justin. I have been watching your videos since long but its my first time to comment. I am doing a startup in Tokyo and your journey has been inspirational.
If you learn to code you are also 100 times more likely to make an good engineer friend who can help you.
27:25 I need to use that tidbit
Glad to see another fella not paying for UA-cam Premium
3:06 I pressed X on what I thought was a UA-cam ad, only to be perplexed as to why it paused the video XD
@justin you can add adblocker. Works just fine for all ads.
Beg for forgiveness rather than ask for permission. Let me just go tattoo that onto my forehead.
❤️
👍
Love love love this kind of videos.
Garry is so mid
Plot twist: this deck gave Zuck the idea for Meta
Very helpful! I hope one time you will review mine
Thanks!!!!!!
Enjoyed the video, very insightful and cool to watch. Thank you!
Thans for sharing!!
The third was normie bullshit, the second one was pretty interesting, at least for the team
this is like the laidback version of Shark Tank
You and Garry are my fav founders/investors. I almost want to send my pitch to you guys to roast it 😂
The fact that Garry doesn't know what an ERG is made me LOL
Doesn't matter what you think, you're a man of the people now.
Thank you for hearing our feedback! This shit will get big in no time!!!
The idea to give a second chance is also great.
How does LIV make money though?
That was entertaining, glad you shared a second part! 😉👍
How to apply to be roasted?? 🤙🏾
Still watching ads 😂😂😂😂
So useful! Also so happy to see you two together! You bring so much value
Hi Justin. Is there any other way to claim the Dead Startup Toys? I have tried contacting Jen. I have intended to share the prize with my students. Class starts this coming Thursday for 6 consecutive weeks. I would probably have to share your video instead if it doesn't make it on time. Cheers!
Sorry I will ship it ASAP
@@JustinKanTV Thanks Justin. I’ll update you when I receive it.
@@JustinKanTV Got them! Time to share!
Game time, ty Justin, Gary and the production team!
Justin's voice is therapeutic.
We want more pitch deck reviews🖐
