I have Atena and they would NOT cover Restasis , but will Xiidra… My eye doctor said ok and prescription was filled.. THE PRICE FOR MY XIIDRA WAS $750.00!!!! Where in the world do you people say it is cheap!!! Wrong!! I had to pay $50.00 for 60 vials to last just ONE MONTH 😬, which is geee still high for eye drops! I have severe dry eyes and go through artificial drops like crazy each day… Unbelievable

I have taken this medication and I stopped due to it giving me a bad taste and also white phlegm about 2-3 times a day. Do you think that's a common side effect or no? I have really dry eyes not sure what else to do about it.
A metallic taste is a commonly reported side effect that I have heard of. It is also listed as a side effect on the package insert of the drug as (unusual taste sensation). Many drugs for dry eye disease work by modifying the immune system's response. Phlegm production is connected to certain immune responses, so it is theoretically possible for a drug that influences the immune system to have that type of effect. There are other options are in the same space as Xiidra that may be worth looking into, such as Cequa and Restasis. These may be worth asking your doctor about.
By end of 2017 I tried Xiidra, completed de treatment as indicated but unfortunately nothing positive happened. Is there up to this time an improvement to the formula or dosage? Just yo give it a second chace. Regards from México.
