I’m at a loss for words really, as this one hits hard just like when DOOM passed. This was so sudden and he just released a record too. I’ve been listening to KA since Grief Pedigree and I’ll never forget when I first stumbled upon his artistry. All of us together are grieving, the underground community is grieving, but at least we have his extraordinary discography to last the test of times, and continue to tell his stories for generations. Much love and Rest in Peace Brownsville KA.

I was just 18 when I learned of this dude, I was on twitter looking for rapper’s with a giant but high quality back catalog of music.
I came across this dude being mentioned with the names of Roc Marci and Big KRIT, I checked his shi out and never regretted it. Whenever I listen to his projects, I find some new message or technical rhyme scheme I didn’t catch before. “Orpheus vs the Sirens”, “Honor Killed The Samurai”and “Grief Pedigree”made me want to take my art to a level of detail I’ve never tapped into before. This dude along with only a handful of other artist’s reached an “Illmatic” level pen, a crazy talent that will take awhile to reemerge onto the music scene.
My condolences to his kin, see you later KA.

It feels bittersweet to have discovered him and fall in love with his pen the way I did, only for him to be gone a month later. @SSX1799 Місяць тому +18

I wrote on The Company Man’s channel but I’ll copy and paste it here. Just celebrating Ka’s legacy with you all🙌🏾
There’s too much to say. He had such a truly unique and powerful gravitas that he rapped with. All his records carry an immeasurable weight. It’s like each line comes from the very deepest depths of his soul, and from nowhere else. It’s really like nothing else in the medium.
His discog is a masterclass in the power of aesthetics, and the absolute consistency in said aesthetic that he maintains makes all his songs and projects compound on one another, creating an incredible monolith. His discog is really like a world unto itself. Existing on its own plane.
And this is to say nothing of his bars😂. He’s just stupidly good. Like absurdly, unfairly, ridiculously good. There’s really no amount of superlatives fitting for his pen. It’s like each bar is a lethal blow. A knock-out punch. And he’ll just keep going and going forever.
He’s a master of the turn of phrase. It’s crazy to think he’s a punchline rapper. In the sense that he raps using many entendres and wordplay. It’s wild that he takes a technique used often for pure braggadocio or humor and uses it to deliver the most absolutely gut-wrenching depictions of his life and his mental state, and by extension, the human condition.
His solemn dignity that he carried himself with was special. It’s clear that he cherished his art, and I know he’d be fulfilled knowing that people will never stop spinning his records and finding solace and many other powerful emotions in them.
He’s documented his story. If one wants to understand the depths of despair, depression, and darkness that poverty and neglect bring about, one no need look further than Ka’s songs.
I swear it’s not as bad when artists die, because they live on through their work, available to us at all times. Ka will continue his therapeutic work, just as he did when he was here.
Rest In Power to an absolute legend🕊️

    R.i.p. Brownsville Ka
First heard him the Gza's Pro tools album on a joint called "Fire house" ... finding out that he was a full time firefighter along with being a legendary poet makes this a much bigger loss!!! May he rest in peace 🙏

Truly devastating. One of the greats, if not the greatest of his era. He should be a poet laureate

This is heart breaking. I was just telling wifey the other day how much I revere this man’s lyrical ability and I think he’s a generational talent with the pen.
    Rest in peace.

Great video bro. KA is probably the most profound writer of our time and his untimely passing hurts man. Just hurts

Slow plays, no days, all night
When war raise, four's blaze on sight.
Shot for the stars, imma reach'em one day, left for dead started moving rocks like easter."
Saw the music video for "just" on Adult Swim around 2017, been hooked ever since.
Alot of his videos were in black and white, with shades of gray.
Gray is the color of wisdom, i learned so much listening to Ka.
    "Never at ease no Downtime"
" i creed, how many cars you need? When fathers bleed to fill ribs of kids that hardly read."
"A basketball, bikes, buss passes the s**i i fought for. You scared to leave school at 3 o'clock throwing up with cramps, when i was mushing ni**as at bus stops throwing my hands."

My introduction to Ka was Gza Pro tools album, then I realized from an interview that I knew him from the mid 90's as a member of Natural.E. R.I.P legend.
