I worked in Bed Sty Brooklyn with Captain Ryan aka Ka back in the day in neighbouring firehouses. He was very humble. No one knew he was a lyricist until years later. It’s incredible to see how he touched so many people’s lives personally and professionally. May he Rest easy 🙏
I’m at a loss for words really, as this one hits hard just like when DOOM passed. This was so sudden and he just released a record too. I’ve been listening to KA since Grief Pedigree and I’ll never forget when I first stumbled upon his artistry. All of us together are grieving, the underground community is grieving, but at least we have his extraordinary discography to last the test of times, and continue to tell his stories for generations. Much love and Rest in Peace Brownsville KA.
Ka was the definition of grown man rap. He was the only rapper who i thought his music sounded better at normal volume because i didn't want loud beats to distract from his voice and rhymes. RIP to one of the greatest ever!
Another talented poet has passed away smh😔🤦🏾♂️, this was unexpected. “30 Keys” is what introduced me to his music back in 2018. R.I.P. to you KA, may your legacy lives on🙏🏾🕊️
thank u ka.... shit never feels real but we were lucky to have him. my intro to him was listening to marcberg for the first time.... we lost a pillar man. something i've learned from him is to move with intention. i feel truth in everything he spoke and it inspires me to be a better man myself. rest in perfection KA we appreciate u
From his very first album, his music helped me get through so many tough times, he understood struggle and if you knew struggle then you understood him. Then stack on top of that godly lyricism where no a word of filler is uttered as multiple themes weave and intertwine to shed light on a concept. There is NO ONE like him.
Oh my God why is the algorithm only showing this today. ...3days later.....oh my God...one of the items in my bucket list was to meet ka n get his blessings. 💔😢
Still at a lost for words… Ka was the epitome of truth with his lyrics and no one was doing it the way he was. Hip hop lost a giant with this one. Prayers for his family. Rest in power Ka
I was just 18 when I learned of this dude, I was on twitter looking for rapper’s with a giant but high quality back catalog of music. I came across this dude being mentioned with the names of Roc Marci and Big KRIT, I checked his shi out and never regretted it. Whenever I listen to his projects, I find some new message or technical rhyme scheme I didn’t catch before. “Orpheus vs the Sirens”, “Honor Killed The Samurai”and “Grief Pedigree”made me want to take my art to a level of detail I’ve never tapped into before. This dude along with only a handful of other artist’s reached an “Illmatic” level pen, a crazy talent that will take awhile to reemerge onto the music scene. My condolences to his kin, see you later KA.
First project i ever heard from this man was descendants of cain. Ka spoke to me through his music and his words encouraged me to be a better friend, a better partner, to work harder, and to be a better man. Thank God for Ka, and i hope he rests in peace and his family finds solace and inspiration through him for years to come. I truly wish i couldve met the man and shook his hand and thanked him for the wonderful poetry he brought into the world. Thank you for shining a light on this legend, i hope more can be influenced by his message.
I was in high school when 2pac and Biggie died and it didn't hit me as hard as this one did. I was almost moved to tears when I heard Ka passed. This man was different and a true one of one! Every song was like a grown man sitting you down, looking you in the eye and talking directly to your soul. I want to send my condolences to his family and all who knew him.
It's just such a surprise to me, you never expect any death, but I still get caught off-guard when someone like Ka dies. It feels wrong to have him be gone. This is a loss for words. May he rest easy.

@@tdsnuggs yeah man super dope.. we were choppin it up... it was dope because ka was doing role reversal.. asking his listeners questions and really getting to know his following on a personal level... i even saw him offering waters to some on line.. it was rainin heavy on us.. and when he pulled up to the spot.. he smile was soo big, he apologized and thanked all his supporters for standing in a line while rained waiting on him.he then stated his love and promised to try to get every one in as fast as he can. Your videos are part of the reason I discovered Ka. This is a beautiful video. They say people die twice, once when their body dies and again when someone says their name for the last time. I want to make sure we keep him alive as long as possible even after death. Never stop listening. Rest in power Kaseem.
Ever since a friend introduced me to Ka, I've considered him my favorite artist of all time. Still Heir was my first song, and it feels fitting. Ka is responsible for the better parts of myself, and without his artistry I'd be more lost than I am now. Sure many can say the same...
