I met Geoffrey Lewis at a horror convention many years ago. I told him his "Look at me!" scene scared the crap out of me as a kid and as an adult. He smiled & thanked me. Very nice guy.
David Souls acting in the "embalming room scene" is some of the best acting I have ever seen...the watching the clock, then that shaking trying to keep calm and keep from panicing...I have seen this in real life... in some dire situations....He is extremely convincing... a Horror Classic.
My favourite Stephen king adaptation put on the screen...a classic terrifying masterpiece! The acting, music, atmosphere and of course the wonderful tobe hopper directing...created in my opinion the scariest vampire movie ever made! A true horror classic 🧛❤
@@graydavidsonpresents as much as I love Salem's Lot I have to totally disagree with it being the best thing adapted the screen by Stephen King. That's not possible when the Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile exist. See people get so caught up in Stephen King's horror novels they completely forget that he wrote those two masterpieces as well. Hell Shawshank is regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time, if not THE greatest movie of all time. But I give Frank Darabont credit for that. What is great at Salem's lot is don't forget that he also wrote: Cycle of the Werewolf: Silver Bullet. Christine. Cujo. The Body: Stand by Me. And The Shining.

Just finished watching this. Very well made. Future releases of Salem's Lot on DVD/Blu-Ray should include this mini-documentary as a behind-the-scenes extra.
I am Argentine. The miniseries was broadcast here in 1980 by one of the main TV stations of the country, Channel 13 of Buenos Aires. They had a horror movie slot on Saturday nights called "Viaje a lo Inesperado" (Trip to the Unexpected) and showed this on two consecutive weekends. I couldn't sleep for days after seeing the scene of Danny Glick on the window. To me, this is one of the best horror movies ever made.
The Salem's Lot of 1979 is replaceable & unique !!! The actors , the scenes & backgrounds are brilliant .A horror masterpiece that so many people had enjoyed & appreciated through the years as the best vampire t.v. series or movie.😊
Extremely well done, the 1979 Salem's Lot has and always will be a top favourite of mine and nothing comes close to mimicking the fear I felt as a child, I still watch it today and get creeped out, and I'm 53. I can't remember that anything like it had ever been seen on television and I remember being terrified when it was shown here in the UK. A very good and informative video.Saw this when it was shown over here in the UK in the early 80s . It's still one of the best adaptions of a Stephen King book. It has one of the best Tv scores ever written by Harry Sukman . My dog is named after Mr Barlow.
It is a shame that Lance Kerwin just stopped making movies soon after this. He was talented. I read a ton of Stephen King books back in the day, of which Salem's Lot and Pet Cemetary probably were my two favourites. "It"was patchy. It had very good parts and very bad ones. Just like King's writing output in general. None of the film adaptations of the books are very good, with the exception of the one discussed in this video. This film aired here in Sweden too in 1979 and I loved It. Lots of great actors. Thanks for the video. Rest peacefully David.
The 1979 version the best .David Soul's performance awesome . The boy vampire floating outside the bedroom and tapping still scares the " you know what " out of me.
When I was twelve, my little brother and I watched this two parter the nights they came out from a bathtub filled with blankets, wheeling in a small black and white tv. I read the book in 7th grade, just after it was released. I am glad, because there was no film to influence how I saw everything in my imagination…and while nothing will ever match the creepiness of the novel, the 79 movie comes very close…they can make 100 versions, I don’t care, nothing will match that first film. The only thing I did not like about it was the Nosferatu-like Barlow. I would have preferred, and found it scarier, if he looked like a real man, like in the novel.
I married young, 21 years of age. I watched part one with my husband who promised he would watch part two with me. Perfect because part one scared the bejeezus out of me. He lied, I watched it alone in our little apartment. He is now my ex. Coincidence?, I don’t think so!!!
The 2024 release of "Salem's Lot" was an absolute tragedy. The entire film seemed rushed. There was no character development. I felt nothing when I watched it. The 1979 version was so much better, but then, looked at who directed it! Tobe Hooper was a genius in his directing. His version was a slow burn compared to the 2024's miscast, poorly directed, and boring version.
I saw it when it aired in1979. It wasn't that big a deal. Everybody liked weird horror stories, and TV had plenty of them over the years. It was an entertaining event.
I can’t express in words how disappointing the 2024 version was! It’s straight so far from the book ! The acting was horrible, but I can only guess it because the script was so poor!

He was always known as The Master. A bit like Aliens in Aliens were known as Aliens.
Rudy Giuliani scared the living crap out of me when he came out of the coffin!
Happy Halloween to all horror movies lovers!!!! 🧛🧟👹🎃🦇🦇🦇🕷️🕸️
Happy Halloween! 🎃
I have it on blue ray
2024 version was lacking
The 2024 version flies through in under 2 hrs. Rubbish!
Stuka
Whirlwind
Corsair
Curt? Barlow
Kurt 😊
I saw it when it aired in1979. It wasn't that big a deal. Everybody liked weird horror stories, and TV had plenty of them over the years. It was an entertaining event.
I can’t express in words how disappointing the 2024 version was! It’s straight so far from the book ! The acting was horrible, but I can only guess it because the script was so poor!
Too long for a single movie. The same reason why the new adaptation doesn't really work
I watched Salem's lot on TV in 1979 and I've haven't been right since! 🫣
Lol me either, best TV movie ever
