I'm on my second Pajero and like everything about the vehicle with the possible exception that, when towing a heavy camper, the rear tyres wear faster than solid axles that I have owned. The 3.2 turbo diesel is a real beauty, switching from 2x4 to 4x4 on the fly is a nice feature for a bloke that lives down a dusty gravel road. And the fuel economy of around 9.5L/100kms isn't too bad at all. Sad to not see Mitsubishi not continuing with the real Pajero as the Sport just fails to interest me in any department.
@@mexclanzunless you’re tall. Then the pajero sport is useless. The flare from the centre arch prevented me from even driving it out the gate. The crazy thing is I bought the 2017 pajero new for $46.5k. The sport was substantially more. No way would I pay more for the sport.
I am a former owner of a Mitsubishi Pajero and Nativa having just returned from Kuwait where I owned and drove both for the past 15 years. I was very happy with both vehicles and look forward to owning a new Pajero in Canada next year.
They should bring back the old design with new engine...Just like this old design...more..more..more... Beautiful..in the eyes of many....as I heard all over the place.
I'm a new proud owner of a Pajero Exceed 2017 and test drove the sports and the GLX and loved them both and I'm a small person so the sports leg room didn't worry me but did to my partner as he didn't like the console. I chose the Exceed over the sports as it felt more sturdy and smoother in power for towing a 2 Horse Angle float, but so glad I bought this now as they might be extinct soon.
I wish USA would sell these - the little diesels are awesome. And both look modern, equipped well, priced right and look pretty good off road. Come on Mitsubishi, sell us the good stuff, not the front drive grocery soccer mom units...
Guy's the video is great but we can barely understand what you are saying. Your voice needs to be clearer in order for people to understand your comments. Keep up the good job with better voices
Thanks for the review. I had wondered what the sport was like. I'll stick to the real Pajero I think. I am not also all that keen on the unnecessary lines on the sport
We thought we would look at a pajero sport, got in it and straight away realised its just to small and compact. We bought an nx gls which we absolutely love. It may be old design but it feels big but a breeze to drive and the 5spd auto is very smooth.
It's nice and decent but you should have gotten the prado rather lol. Although it's aged too, it's also better in almost all aspects especially in terms of power and refinement plus equipped with modern features.
I have a choice between a 2016 Montero Limited 3.8l v6 or a 2015 Montero Sport 3.8l v6 which one ???? The Limited looks almost new still and 1 owner 85kms...Sport looks more beaten up 100kms then i have the option for a 2018 Outlander SE plus
Im shocked Mitsubishi hasn't tried to market it here in North America given how truck and SUV crazy its been here lately. What do ALL carmakers want right now? a 7 seat crossover, and Mitsubishi has one, but not here. Then again, I kinda feel like they've generally given up in North America so maybe its just a case of "meh"
cmiiw, but ive heard that mitsubishi currently focusing on the southern-hempsphire market only because they cant compete with the other "japanesse big-brands" such as toyota, honda, nissan in northen-hempshire market
I feel a lot of people got used to the big boat cars. I own the previous generation triton (2006 curved shape) and even though I'm over 6ft I don't feel cramped. I want to push my triton to 400hp so I might pillage the pajero 3.2 and fit it with diesel treatment to push it into euro 6. I love the large pajero steering wheel also more than the outlander wheel
It would have been interesting to see both vehicles try to drive back up that muddy slope, I doubt either one would have made it but I would like to have seen how they fared. I suspect that being heavier the 'proper' Pajero would have done better.
I have a 2015 Pajero....I agree that what I really want is the engine and the gearbox of the sport.....not enough reason to ditch the present truck for the new one
The wife has the Paj sport and I have the NT Paj . Prefer my Nt as it feels roomier and I’m not hitting my knee on the centre console like I do in the sport , also both are rated to tow my caravan however the Nt has a much more stable feel on the rd , I guess when the time comes to pass the Nt to my daughter then I’ll probably look at a cruiser or Patrol
I own a Paj Sport mid range 5 seater.i recently went and viewed the original Pajero shape with a tape measure and beleive it or nor the Paj Sp has more room in almost all areas.i do still find it a tad narrow however.still a great car
I'm about to have my PS gasoline engine in 1 more week. I've done lots of researches and 3 drive tests, 2 of them off road. I prefered PS over Toyota Fortuner. PS gives a better ride sensation. Cheers!
I'll take the pagero over the Sport without a doubt (not in white). The sport has too much curves and details and ... it is just not a very pretty car.
Honestly, after doing some test drives on both of those Pajeros, the original Pajero beats the Sport model. I choose Pajero cos it still has it's charm and looks good, even though it still looks the same since late 2006...go old Pajero!!!
My first 3.5NM 2001.. 480,000 km never missed a beat, should have kept it. 2012 NW 3.2 220,000 km zero problems Think I will buy another soon before they go the way of the Dodo. Prior I has 2 x Landcruiser Wagons with 4.5, I had a Nissan Shorty with te 3 litre petrol, also had a 1980 Cruiser Tray Back all good vehicle. I am a bit rough on vehicles however I run fully synthetic oil and keep em clean and well maintained
do you have to be so vague? the title is Pajero vs Pajero, I actually want to know which one is better off-road/on-road, etc.. like actually say "the sport is better off-road and this is why, etc.." This was borderline useless.
Took the Pajero sport for a test drive, if you 6”3”/193cm or taller, save the time and don’t bother, the stupid plastic flare from the centre console will chew up leg space and make it impossible to drive. No idea why they put it there. Got the Pajero instead
I don't get why these two aren't here in the U.S. at least send a limited run. The 4 Runner is still selling out here like hotcakes. I don't want a Wrangler or a Cherokee or a pickup. Everything is turning into Minivans with high heels and all wheel drive. Hello Mitsubisi!!!! Enough with the mini crossovers. Send us at least one of your large vehicles.
I have the NT Pajero, very reliable get decent fuel economy with diesel. Pajero sport looks like a, Triton with, a hardtop bit lazy Mitsubishi took that, approach. Off road pajero is very good, just get yourself a, decent set of all terrains and some basic recovery gear and can go almost anywhere.
Good day, can anyone who owns both or have driven both tell me which offers the better ride quality? Which one has a quieter cabin and handles bumps better?
It's insane how costly Pajero is in Australia !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In UAE you get a brand new 3.8 V6 Pajero with Full option for less than 24 000 USD.....
I get where he;s coming from! You just stereotype. I'm an Aussie, so what?. The issue is, that once yu put the gear in the boot, there is no space left in the PS. It is also narrower than the real Pajero. It is based on a Ute/ Pick-up and it shows. So, until you get in one, test drive it, think of the things you will be carrying, and NOT towing, and gowing for a camping trip where you need most things inside the cab, then reply accordingly with a proper answer. Camping is normally a week long thing, not a weekend at a campsite! Remote wilderness, no access to anything except what you bring with you. Also holidays as the OP(Original Poster) mentioned, would mean more than a casual weekend. So again, where does your comment about "is that family of 4 fat americans" need to mentioned, unless you are a troll ;-)

Nope, it's not. As an owner of this 4WD, the dashboard is a disaster in bright sunlight. The Mitsubishi design team's selection of speedo and tacho colors and lighting makes it utterly impossible to read when sun shines on it directly, or indirectly on a bright day. Extremely dangerous in heavy motorway traffic around speed traps. Death stares you in the face in this car.
I can't understand why Mitsubishi call it the "Pajero Sport"? This is a Triton ute with a cab on the back. Why isn't it called the "Triton Sport"? It looks nothing like a Pajero and has virtually no common features. I think Mitsubishi are shamelessly trying to gain some commercial advantage by trading off the proven Pajero name and good reputation. Long live the Pajero!
Old school pajero looks sooo much better. This variannt is actually known as montero in India and is a super expensive car due to all the stupid taxes & fees.
PAJERO great all round 4WD. I've taken my 25th Anniversary edition Pajero every where and it has never failed me.
The Pajero sport looks a bit more refined, but I prefer the boxy shape of the old Pajero, and the old-school SUV looks.
I agree
I'm on my second Pajero and like everything about the vehicle with the possible exception that, when towing a heavy camper, the rear tyres wear faster than solid axles that I have owned.

I own a new pajero sport, but I love the old pajero because of its rugged looks and designed for real off-roading.
Sad I love the pajero shogun. Please Mitsubishi keep the shogun going like the marcedez G class keep the design but upgrade the technology.
Me too honestly
finally someone dares to do a head to head honest review rather than another car commercial !!
There is only 1 true Pajero - the old school boxy Pajero!😆😆😆
ummm no, the second generation is much better, the third just improves on that, the forth is meh
@@jonathanlucas4848 I love our 2017 Pajero sport 🔥
😂😂😜
The old style pajero looks great. Still a winner and more sure footed on the rougher terrain.
Agreed
But spare parts is a problem
It does
I like the old generations more because they look premium for those days, also they were more capable, had a solid rear axle and more simplicity
I love Pajero! Driven Pajero 1, 2 and 3. Great cars. Pajero Sport is not my thing.
I agree
Me to.
I love the regular Pajero, in particular the SWB version. I'd be very disappointed if Mitsubishi stopped making it!
lapamful on the bright side they'll be cheaper to buy. You can maintain cars for a long life, don't need new ones if you like any old models
Me two
Me to
Well here we are 2022. It was discontinued since 2021. True offroaders in its genuine form.
I'm still prefer the Original one
im from Morocco I like your videos you have such a beautiful country

Haha me too but I sorta understand
I personally prefer the old school off-road style one to pajero sport:]

mus1c4m3 we did too!
lmao the pajero and pajero sport can both be exceeds..your statement is invalid..pajero models are GLX GLS and exceed paj sport is the same
I wish USA would sell these - the little diesels are awesome. And both look modern, equipped well, priced right and look pretty good off road. Come on Mitsubishi, sell us the good stuff, not the front drive grocery soccer mom units...

Thanks for the review. I had wondered what the sport was like. I'll stick to the real Pajero I think. I am not also all that keen on the unnecessary lines on the sport
Just bought a 3.6 V6 2020 Pajero in the Middle east still on sale
I'm in Riyadh... It's still in offer.... Can I contact you to know more details...
Pajero will go down as a legend.
Although it's aged too, it's also better in almost all aspects especially in terms of power and refinement plus equipped with modern features.

they market the outlander there. that keeps some of the suv shoppers happy. so they don't have a complete vacuum in NA market.
Montero sport is not a crossover. It wouldnt do so great. It is a body on frame true 4x4 offroader.
Jose M it’s the perfect competitor to the Toyota 4Runner (since the Nissan Xterra has bene discontinued).
Be the biggest mistake mitsubishi make to stop the pajero /shogun
In talks with Nissan to co-develop the new model, looks to be possible platform sharing with new Patrol

Totally agree. I cant decide what to buy next. Defiantly wont be new Paj!

Well... having watched this I guess I can search other youtube videos for a proper test.
The Pajero is the REAL Pajero. The Pajero Sport was originally called Challenger based of a Triton Ute so it's NOT really a Pajero.
I do love the new sport, however its a shame they're ditching the original
it doesn't matter if you have a Australian accent as long as you speak clearly.

I love the old school Shogun.
first the Evo and now the Paj... wtf Mitsubishi!!!!
The end of Mitsubishi as we know it

The sports is just to refined makes it look like a city car and not a off road car I’m sure the specs are great but you can’t beat the original
Great review
I'll own up to being a Pajero owner and that Pajero Sport would have to have one of the ugliest arses this side of K K

Nice review, Pajero sport is ugly and to small for a family of 4 going of road for the holidays .time to move on and get a Ranger or Toyota.
is that family of 4 fat americans?
Camptime Tent I suggest you to not buy toyota but you can buy a lexus

no the pajero sport its not the real name, the real name is MONTERO SPORT

yutuniopati it is here in Australia as well, but for how long? No real development.
