Pf flyers is a heritage brand so New Balance is really bringing it back and keeping it alive. That's why the pf flyers are more legit and durable. Better made to keep an icon alive
PF Flyers are made in the USA. Nike moved Converse production out of the US and to China, India, Vietnam and Indonesia. That's why the quality has taken a dive.
Uzzy66 They are actually made overseas, I just bought the 25th Anniversary Sandlot release and they're made in Indonesia. Now they do offer a Made in USA pair that retails around $150, the rest of the line (that's $60-ish or so) is made overseas.
lol not if you buy them on amazon they're just as bad as converse if not worse! No one reads the negative reviews on amazon you have to read the 1 star reviews.
They’ve got some really good looking styles, the suede gray hi tops are nice. Also really like the low whites with the suede areas. They’re just really well made though and comfortable
I just bought the sandlot version for my sister as a x-mas gift she’s gonna flip at the nostalgia!!! Ps u sound like Dale from stepbrothers made me enjoy the vid a little more lol
Bro same! I always wore converse and bought my first pair of pf flyers just 2 weeks ago. I play baseball and basketball ball in them not to mention bum around in them. Best shoes I ever bought
As a kid growing up in Toronto, Canada all we wore were P.F. Flyers. Converse were very rare, l love P.F. ‘S have a pair of Todd Snyder editions in suede, very nice.
The sad part is, Chuck Taylors, as much of an icon they are to us Americans, Nike butchered them. You should check out the Chuck Taylor's made in Japan, because those babies, the qualities are absolutely incredible and have the same quality as the PF Flyers or the original made in America Chucks back in the 70s because they aren't owned by Nike and are instead owned by a Japanese company that care for qualities. As much as I like some Nike models, I became very skeptical after all these years because of their poor quality control. After all said and done, Its sad to see such iconic shoes being made better over here in Japan (in limited numbers mind you) or other brands such as PF Flyers and hell even some Pro-Keds making better shoes.
The made in USA flyers are literally 300 times better than the regular flyers, it’s worth the price, you have to check them out. Flyers are gonna be back in trend
Finkardop actually, I don’t know where you are, but I had a chance to visit the outlets in San Jose, California , and to my surprise when I visited the New Balance outlet store there, they had the sales section and I swear I found PF Flyers made in USA for about 30-40 dollars, 50 bucks tops, with a lot in stock. I’m still kicking myself because I wasn’t able to get them due to the power outage and they had to close the outlet mall prematurely. As a proud Japanese-American, I’m focusing a lot on quality and man, Nike is disappointing me a lot. I bought a pair of New Balance sneakers made in UK and I just know they’re gonna last me forever like my Allen Edmonds Boots.
Unfortunately, its a little far off from Las Vegas I'm afraid, it's actually closer to San Francisco and San Jose in a town called Gilroy. Heres a little guide of the mall I went to called Gilroy Premium Outlets: www.premiumoutlets.com/outlet/gilroy/stores/new-balance-factory-store If you have a chance though, I suggest you check out any and all New Balance Factory outlets across the country though, since its been what 2 months since I visited the mall so I'm not sure if they still have the PF Flyers Made in USA and I'd hate to make you travel long distance only to be disappointed, so it may be prudent to visit one Factory Outlet near the areas you're visiting. I did a little search and surprisingly a chain of factory outlets done by the same group is in Las Vegas: www.premiumoutlets.com/outlet/las-vegas-south/stores/new-balance-factory-store I think it may be best to check this one out considering the location. Happy Hunting man!
Ive have three pairs of lowtops converse that I purchased 7 years ago, and 1 pair is doing well, one is pretty good, and one is on its way out. Then again I didnt wear them every single day but alot.
I remember as a kid early 1960s buying Redball Jets at local grocery store for a couple of dollars they where just as good as the Converse only so much you can do with canvase and rubber shoes.
I haven't bought a pair of Nikes since 2010 lol. I only wear Fila and New Balance now. But I will say I've had good luck with the Chuck Taylor Street Hightops. They're allot better then the regular chucks for sure. I get two years out of a pair before they're ready for the trash. However after seeing New Balance brought back PF Flyers I definitely wanna buy a pair. I've always wanted a pair since I watched the Sand Lot lol. They have a pair in Navy Blue I really want.
Not sure if you've bought Pro-Keds before but they are built like a tank. I'm going to buy my first PF Flyers right now. I'm a 60's kid I don't know anything other then Keds or Converse. Glad the retro look has been back to stay!
I just bought a pair of PF Flyers Windjammer's $100 made in America. The box came with the shoes, a quality card, and a freaking sweet bag to carry your shoes in. The best pair of shoes ever!! Of course there is cheaper versions of PF Flyers. I also own a pair of America made Chucks. But I dont ware them due to the fact Chucks are no longer made in America.
I always have and always will like Chuck Taylor all star’s They are one of the coolest shoes ever made who is to really blame for the problems well Nike or these other companies that own them now compared to how they were made in the past.
Absolutely agree. Thoroughly enjoyed your video. The "classic" Chuck Taylor now is garbage. I HATE the crappy felt bottoms so bad and why is it like a two piece bottom sole now? Ridiculous. It was never like that before Nike bought them out. Nike is ludicrous and cheap asses. Only things worth buying of converse now is the Chuck 70s and the (now discontinued) Chuck IIs which had the lunarlon insoles. I own a few pairs of PFs too, quality is much better than what converse is putting out, and they'll definitely last much longer. Check out my unboxing of the made in USA sandlot pair I got almost 2 years ago and they are still almost like-new, they're practically indestructible. Cheers man, glad you got yourself some PFs
The reason for the felt/fabric in the sole of the Chuck Taylor is to reduce import taxes. Kids shoes do not have the fabric, but adult shoes do have that tax-reducing feature. They actually engineered the shoes to reduce the costs, therefore increase profits. I hated those shoes the first time I wore them on a gymnasium floor or a waxed public building. VERY slippery! There is a hack, use sandpaper on the fabric.wear off the fabric and the don't slip as much.
The Converse logo (aka the ankle patch) has always been glued on to the sneakers, I think they just used better glue when they still made them in the USA. As for the comparison, I think you should compare the Flyers with Chucks 70s.
So, keeping it within the context of the movie, I'm old enough to have had both shoes back in the late 60s and early 70s. There was NO comparison back then. The only real competitor, in those days, to the Chuck Taylor's was the ProKeds... Until Puma came along with the model Walt Frazier wore.
Nice advice man, thanks! I believe Chuck's got the "bad quality" in 2003 when Nike bought Converse out. Since then no where near the original's however, they have a version called the Chuck Taylor '70 that looks/feels closer to the original. With a higher price point though.. imagine that haha
Af1 from Nike has changed too I just got some af1 from 2007 and they are way sturdier and better than the new ones they actually have real rubber on the bottom
I personally love PF flyers however higher end converse do use better quality material and do have a stitched on logo I think maybe you just got a little lower end pair
I stop wearing chuck Taylor's long time ago because i use to get terrible back pain after playing a show and mosh for the rest of the night but i start to play like a year ago and I got the pf flayer just to realize that was what i needed all the time
Just bought a pair of flyers last week and there’s a huge difference in quality still compared to converse, the flyers are so much better and wider for wide feet
They're not much wider, and they got rid of the PF insole with arch support for a cheap dollar store flat one. And for wide feet, Converse has a wide option.
The best part of PF flyers is the removable insert....which chucks don't have. Of course the sandlot was a big "cool" factor, but actually my favorite band back in the day was sponsored by them in the 2000's.....band was "chixdiggit"
If you pull the sole out of the metcon, and puff some baby powder in there. Put the sole back in. Boom, squeak gone. It’s the material of the sole rubbing on the inside of the sides for your rope climbs. I own metcon 3’s. It’s kinda a known querk of all metcons.
I got a pair and on the outside side of the left shoe, the rubber is bent inward and it squeezes my foot to the point that it hurts. Anyone else experience this?
Yes!! I bought some white PF flyers on eBay, since I have a black pair of converse like shown here in the video. My PFs arrived in the mail yesterday, I put them on, and noticed they squeeze your toes a bit. My converse don't do that at all...
Kent Nelson they're pretty sturdy and they've held up well since March. However. The sides of soles have come lose due to the glue wearing out. Nothing bad though. It's a flaw with pf flyers. I'm considering doing another follow up video of the white ones since they've been worn a lot this summer.
Unless you buy the 'Converse Chuck Taylor's All Star 70' Hi" then forget it. The Converse Chuck Taylor's you mentioned is out of the question. You are indeed wise switching to PF-Flyers or at least Pro-Keds Royal Hi.
Emre Y PF flyers are really stiff when you first get them and hold up really well over time. Pf flyers have the same design and everything that they had back in the 50s. Chucks are a waste of money.
Emre Y but I have seen the 70s. Considering the cheap way normal chicks are made, I wouldn't wanna spend and extra 10 bucks on a shoe they've made that may or may not be better.
I checked out a couple of YT videos, and they really seem sturdy, it has also got an added insole for comfort. Trying to decide which one I should go for. How are the PF Flyers holding up, I mean has it torn anywhere?
Tbh honest yes Converse are horrible and uncomfortable but that separation that happened on the side almost every shoe like vans and even my PF Flyers open up because of the crease but other than that PF Flyers are much better quality and comfortable
Nike ruined the Converse Jack Purcell too. The Jack Purcell was the Ferrari of Converse with stitched logos, removable insoles, metal eyelets and insane durability, but to save $ Nike turned it into Payless quality garbage.
I recommend Chuck Taylor II’s. They look a little odd at first but feel awesome. They have awesome Nike insoles, no squeaking, No felt, memory foam ankle support, sowed on logo, And they are $20 dollars cheaper than regular chucks and pf flyers. I might tryout pf flyers eventually but for as long as I can get Chuck II’s for $20 cheaper I will.
I don't know man I have a pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Classic (like the ones in the video) and have had them for about 7 or 8 months and apart from a little crack in the rubber, like, a really tiny one they are in perfect shape, yes the rear emblem is a bit worn out and the rear bottom of the sole is worn too, but I don't mind the last one since that happens to all of my shoes. These are made in vietnam.
I never heard of pf flyers.i thought they were sold by pf changs. I read a post that the quality is better in japan. Also my chuck taylor have been through hell and back and they are 23 yrs old. I need to compare my two new pairs to my old ones. I did get blisters from my new ones
I hate those metcon shoes! I thought they would be more cross trainer with a tad of flatness for squats but they felt worse than walking barefoot on my back.
oh and if you are wanting shoes to lift heavy weight in, use the converse, not the nikes. your feet need to be completely flat, those nikes arent gonna cut it.
The quality difference can be summed up very simply- Nike workmanship, vs. New Balance workmanship, is very well known. I quit buying anything with a Nike label when CEO Knight lobbied very hard to continue to get tariff relief, AND a tax break, by making every one of his expensive shoes in Asian sweatshops. New Balance still makes a few styles here in the U.S., in spite of the unfair competition by Nike
Chuck's hurt your feet, no support...throw them in the trash! PF Flyers are far superior...the U.S. made run a half size short and the quality is out of this world!
Sad that American products are made like a pump-and-dump scheme. Almost none of the big mainstream retailers(Red Wing is an exception) care for quality anymore, just quantity. Doc Martens, Chuck Taylors, Nike... just bleh. Solovair, Shoes Like Pottery, and Greats are more expensive but I'd gladly pay that price if it means I am guaranteed a quality shoe.
Not to be that guy, but Chuck's aren't usually for guys who have wide feet....just judging from what I can see from the video but ur feet seem kinda wide
Yeah, you should try the all stars 70. Almost $90 and you ware them for a month and the side rubber comes unglued. Chuck Taylor’s are the only shoe I like, that’s the only shoe I’ve been using for the last 25/ 30 years. But quality now is really bad, I think Nike is just another dishonest and greedy company. I stoped buying Chuck Taylors almost a year ago, they not worth the money.
lui melo everybody says that the chuck 70s use better quality and is worth the price so I’m actually surprised to hear what you said about it coming unglued. Now I feel I should just buy the pf flyers first lol
@PeaveyPatriot wow are you serious? So it's basically still falling apart even with the so called "improvements"? I still havent ordered my pair as I was still on the fence about which one would be more worth it but if what your saying is true than I'll be only ordering pf flyers. Thanks for giving me your experience with them

@@umbrellaunderdog 😂 that’s why you buy off the pf flyer site
I switched to PF Flyers years ago and have not looked back. Excellent footwear.
Putin Puppet they're good shoes. I'll be posting a follow up review soon.
Are convers same sizing as pf flyers
@@okcrlrdho6397 they run true to size
Same 😂
Just bought some PF's didnt even know this was a legit brand with history. I personaly think the PF's looks better
They’ve got some really good looking styles, the suede gray hi tops are nice. Also really like the low whites with the suede areas. They’re just really well made though and comfortable
The Sandlot is a great film. It shows that people had respect for products back then.

Still have my Pf-flyers after 10 years and still looking good

@a w No there alittle wider but trust me way more comfortable on your feet! Get you some youll love them!
Are the sizes the same as chucks or regular shoes
I personally like the chuck 70s over both because of there build quality and comfortably plus the retro style
As a kid growing up in Toronto, Canada all we wore were P.F. Flyers. Converse were very rare, l love P.F. ‘S have a pair of Todd Snyder editions in suede, very nice.
Thanks for the info, i was going to try the chucks. Now i can see how much better the pfs are ,you can actually see they are better
Good video. It shows a large quality difference between today's regular Chucks, and Flyers.
Definitely gonna have to pick up some PF flyers shoes
I would highly recommend PF flyers

If you're interested in the old school converse, you can get the converse 70s. Just like the oldies
Japan always better than china stuff.

How about the sizing did you buy the same size in the PF flyers that you did in the Chuck Taylors? because I'm switching over

pf flyers and keds were the most popular sneakers when i was a kid
The Converse logo (aka the ankle patch) has always been glued on to the sneakers, I think they just used better glue when they still made them in the USA.
As for the comparison, I think you should compare the Flyers with Chucks 70s.
I've seen videos of people showing the chucks before nike bought em. The label is sewed on.
They were either glued or sewn...I wore both in the late 60’s
Hey mate, how's the sizing for the pf flyers? True to sneaker size? Or do they run big?
PF Flyers are American made Gitman bros.
I just bought all black hi tops and they feel like theyll be durable and presentable for a long time!
Thank you for this review, amazing video 🙂
So, keeping it within the context of the movie, I'm old enough to have had both shoes back in the late 60s and early 70s. There was NO comparison back then. They have since upgraded the Converse with a thicker sole. I just recently purchase the upgraded version of the off white Chuck Taylor's.
I paid $27 or $28 dlls for those same pair of Converse here in Mexico. Even that, i will try the pf flyers if i have the chance.
I should be recieving my 1st pair of PFF any day now (tall/black). My next pair will be low Pony's in green suede.
I stop wearing chuck Taylor's long time ago because i use to get terrible back pain after playing a show and mosh for the rest of the night but i start to play like a year ago and I got the pf flayer just to realize that was what i needed all the time
I had PF flyers last me 4 year’s there good quality
Hey what’s your guitar rig and pedal rig???
How is the sizing for PF Flyers? I normally go a full size down with Converse
normal size or half if you want a snugg fit
How do the pf flyers fit ? I know I need a 10.5 for converse and 11.5 for LoBrons , what should fit ?
I've never had to change sizes. I'd say your normal size.
My mom was born in 1956 and she always said she wanted a pair of PF Flyers.
Get her a pair for her birthday
You should go to Ebay and buy the vintage Converse that are made in USA
Love Your Video! I feel you on all you have said. However, have you tried Converse 70's? You May Have A Different Outlook On The 70's. To Me, AWESOME!

I am a size 10 in regular shoes
In chucks I am a size 9.5
Would I be the same size in pfs
More then likely.
I'll be.posting a follow up video on my white pf flyers after about 2 months of daily wear.

I never heard of pf flyers.i thought they were sold by pf changs. I read a post that the quality is better in japan. Also my chuck taylor have been through hell and back and they are 23 yrs old. I need to compare my two new pairs to my old ones. I did get blisters from my new ones
If they're that old, they were made in america. Converse hasn't made their chucks in america since 2003 I believe.
@@Finkardop Exactly bro! Been crap since 2003
I hate those metcon shoes! I thought they would be more cross trainer with a tad of flatness for squats but they felt worse than walking barefoot on my back.
oh and if you are wanting shoes to lift heavy weight in, use the converse, not the nikes. your feet need to be completely flat, those nikes arent gonna cut it.
Chuck Taylors are an iconic shoe, on the other hand. The quality is bad.
Companies charge more for something that breaks down in a week. I think you getting ripped off by buying stuff like that.
I only like the white PF flyers, they look better than the white chucks
Try the Chuck 70s, much better quality but more expensive 😢
Compared to the regular chuck* . Pretty much the same as PF Flyer I think
Checkout the converse chuck taylor 70, much better quality!!
Sixty dollars my ass they’re 90 now !!
Average guys channel you're looking at the all American pf flyers.
Finkardop ya I found some for 60 and 70 I feel like they will be making a comeback
Your chuck Taylors may be counterfeit.
PF Flyers all day esp since nike bought out converse
The chucks arch up making it look like clown shoes
Please watch Living Waters on UA-cam
should straiten your step mane
just bought off white 3.0 cup sole shoes for $512 :))
I got mines for 8 dollars each
Theres like this glitch coupon that worked called shipsfree and it literally just dropped the price to 8 dollars
ik a worker or someone fucked up so you can get the shoes for $8 but most common sizes r selling out
Down under...like Australia lol
Not to be that guy, but Chuck's aren't usually for guys who have wide feet....just judging from what I can see from the video but ur feet seem kinda wide
Ive owned chucks and my feet feel fine. Its the quality that bothers me with the price you're paying.
PF Flyers are better if for no other reason than the arch support.
New Balance = better company. P.F. = posture foundation, plus more room in the toe.
Thanks for giving me your experience with them
Just don't buy PF flyers from amazon they're cheap knock-offs they fall apart so easily.
Those might be fake converse
nope. Nike owns them and .makes you have to get the more expensive "Chuck '70" to even get a normal quality Chuck Taylor.. imagine that
Far more better... lol
love your feet
