1. Cast Iron Covers

Trabalhei na área de engenharia, no desenvolvimento de novos produtos. Posso dizer que conheço um pouco das exigências técnicas e de qualidade aos quais os produtos são submetidos. Entre outras necessidades, há normas, especificações, exigências qualitativas e padrões técnicos a serem atendidos.
Não consigo imaginar como que esse produtos, confeccionados de forma totalmente rudimentar, num ambiente inseguro e aparentemente sem nenhum tipo de controle chegam ao mercado.
Os produtos que ven de China nao son mehores. Eu procure 2 artigos con o sello da IRAM de origem Chino e casi comeca um fogo !!!!! Eu acredito nao soy el unico. Estou falando de una marca muito reputada Seguranza = mayor costo. Mas seguranza de verdade, nao falo de falsos selos

Why do they cover & uncover them with sand?
It's probably not sand. I'm guessing it's some sort of absorbent material to remove the excess of the fluid they had just applied before.
But I could be wrong.
Sawdust, to remove the oil they covered them with for pressing.
That's not mass production by today's standards. All the handling to cut, shape, mold and punch all the holes could be done by a single machine within a second.
All the cleaning, plating and do ffg worth could be done in another automated setup in a few minutes.
This would all untouched by hands.
