- Meet Cole Tanner and John Tanner, son and father. John’s first car was a 1975 Porsche 914, first owned by a friend. After an early career in race driving, John sold the 914 and lost track of it. John’s young son, Cole, grew up and wanted to find the 914 again. So he set out to do just that. Along the way, Cole found more than a car. He found a calling and a path in life. His path includes a chance opportunity at Paul Russell’s restoration shop that led him to a unique school called McPherson College in Kansas. This is the story.

I purchased "my" 914 in 1980 after five years of its manufactured date; 1975. I am the second owner. After forty one years, she still sits and is driven regularly under my ownership. Like "road glue" around corners of almost any roadway, the driving experience still brings on many smiles. You will potentially find owning it for many years while making great memories of its ownership. Welcome to the "club".

I think a bank needs to put up the funds for Cole to own that gas station where 914 was pictured in front of, so he can own his own shop to build and fix cars he wants to work on so he gets the full reward of his labors and passions.

My '75 2.0l 914 was a blast especially on canyon roads. Currently looking for my first '67 912 in Lemon Yellow which I sold in the early 80s in the Reno area. Have you seen it?
