Emily, I was so surprised to find your video pop up when I did a search for hot roller ideas. Your suggestion of starting at the part and going sideways has helped more than any suggestions I've come across. I appreciate all of your videos. Keep'm coming!

I got these rollers last night. I can't wait to try your rolling technique. I always used the old school method of going strait back and it works ok but you seem to get a lot more volume. Thanks! :)

Emily - I just enjoy your videos so much! There are certain youtube makeup/beauty gurus that one day, I'm not in the mood to watch and other days, I am - but honestly, you are one of the gurus that I'm subscribed to that I don't ever second guess watching! Thank you for being so dedicated to posting videos! I really enjoy them! Your personality is so contagious and I'd like to think that if I knew you in person, we'd be great friends! HA

Thank you for the video. It makes me want to get a new set of rollers. Will table the idea until winter since I live in Florida. I have naturally curly hair and have to let it be curly in the summer. Otherwise I am fighting a losing battle daily. I love the smoothness with the curl you get with rollers. Have a great day.

This tutorial was so helpful, thanks Emily! I'm so happy that we have an Ulta opening soon very close to my house. I hope they'll carry that curler set - I love the type of clips it comes with, I really don't care for the thin metal ones most hot rollers have. Thanks for another great video Em! xo

I have these rollers and I love the clips too! I am so jealous of the bounce and volume of your hair with these though! My hair isn't super long but it's soooo thick that it just weighs the curl down and I end up having to take my flat iron to it to put in more curl. They need to make these things with more rollers for people with LOTS of hair.

I LOVE my hot rollers. Your set has nicer clips - mine are the old wire ones - but I did find pinch clips by Conair that will fit over regular sized rollers to hold them nice and tight to your head (Sally's Beauty). I have also used a product called Hot Set by Redken that you lightly spray on each section before you roll it up and that seems to work well for me - holds curl longer. I think I might get your set for my daughter to take to college!

This is the BEST hot roller tutorial I've seen on YT..and the outcome is beautiful on you, Emily! Question: In regards to the temp of the rollers..do you feel they get as hot as a curling iron? My hair requires a substantial amount of heat to hold a curl :) Thanks for sharing!

  • @leenanarak
    @leenanarak 12 років тому

Hi love your videos! I only got into hot rollers like 6 months ago but i love them! My hairs like your very fine and doesnt like to curl... but something that worked to help my curls stay longer is to put curling mouse in my hair when went then dry normally (my hair dries straight) they put the rollers in and finally a little hair spray. they stay pretty well even in a warm night club! And the curls dont come ouch crunchy if you know what i mean :)

I LOVE my hot rollers. Im on a bit of a roller kick at the moment. They are definitely less damaging than a curling iron. so much quicker to use and my curls last all day (at least) but your pattern is completely different to mine. . I only use 6!! haha, so I've never had a problem with them being heavy, it also makes it super fast.

Thank you for the tutorial-you are a fabulous teacher. I actually have an old Conair steaming curling iron that is easy to use, fast and beats the curl factor of this setter by a long shot. Perhaps these hot rollers are best on long hair? My hair is shoulder length, and fine texture. Your hair sure looks great though!

in terms of getting a curl-- both will give you that. But because you're rolling hot rollers up to the root- you tend to get more volume right at the roots. So with hot rollers, it's curl + volume

Hi, Emily. I am wearing my hair long for the first time in over 30 years, and found your video ""This is How I Roll" so helpful! Can you tell us the name of the hot rollers you use in the video (pink, orange, and purple)? Do you know if they're still available (in July, 2021)?

  • @Marienkaefer4

I just curled my daughters hair and it is fine but heavy. One tip I got is to make sure you use a heat tamer spray, heat rollers up for about 5 to 10 min. and make sure to leave rollers in for about 45 min! The longer the rollers are in the tighter curl you will get! Hope this helps!

nice victoria's secret hair! I'd definitely need 2 sets of those rollers to do all of my hair. It is crazy thick and crazy stubborn to curl (and to stay curled too) Living in FL makes it that much worse. The humidity is awful here.
PS--Emily,what hairspray do you like to use to hold the curl?Do you use mousse/gel spray before blow drying?I ask about the hairspray because I cant use any HS that turns sticky as soon as I go outside. It has to hold without stickiness. Make sense?I need super hold!!

maybe leave them in longer? not sure how long you're leaving them in. I know there are also some good thermal setting sprays out there like Redken Hot Sets 22 (I believe that's the correct one!) that can help heat-styles last-- my sister in law swears by that stuff & has been using it for years!

My hair doesn't hold curl very well either, especially when it's long..what I find helps is putting mousse in my hair before I put in the rollers (or gel, but that is generally too heavy for my fine hair) and then I spritz the curls with hairspray before I comb them out (let it dry first) as well as after I have it styled.

i know you didn't ask me, but i have a similar hair type to emily (natural wave, holds curl well, fine textured but a lot of hair), and i have curlformers. they work really well - almost too well. you have to play with them a bit to find what you like (that's key) but if you put them in damp hair and leave them to dry COMPLETELY you get a really defined curl that's almost difficult to tame down. sure, by lunch time your hair will look perfect, but a little bit ridiculous before that point. haha
