During the solo, the violinist was at 2x faster than anyone else in the band, incredible
he practiced with "Through the Fire and Flames" (no idea, making a joke)
Took me a second to realize he was playing it and it wasn't some tape cut in. Wow.

Just to clarify for those wondering- I’m the mixing engineer on this song, and you can also see me there in the room playing drums. This video was NOT sped up. We really did play the song at this speed on the day. Earl is a monster musician, and deserves every bit of credit for this performance. 👏🏻👏🏻

I have been a Metallica fan since before that song was released, and I have to say, that was amazing. Would never think that it could be remade into a jazz song but you guys did exactly that and it sounds amazing. The violinist just showed his shredding skills. I think there was smoke coming out of those violin strings!

Well it shows how good Cliff Burton was. Metallica have been poor since he died. One reasonable pop album is all they've managed.

@@oGoldero I understand what you're saying but for myself it came across as trying to emulate Burtons style. The songs didn't hold together as well and the bass was non existent. So they had to reinvent themselves. Different band. I'll give them credit for realising that but it's not what I liked about metallica. What I liked was their NWOBHM roots and that was Burton. When they toured the UK and went to Glastonbury the entire metal community took that as a direct insult. Nobody into metal goes there, it's a pop festival..... They should change their name to poptalica.

The violinist is amazing. Listening and watching him was a complete joy-especially Kirk's solo.. Usually i watch Robyn the entire time, but Earl had my attention for this song. Hope to see Mr. Maneein again real soon. Thanx.

You can tell the video is sped up. It's very obvious he's not really playing that fast.

@@GameTimeWhy Yes. The motion looks robotic, because it stops and starts too quickly. Moving quickly requires a longer acceleration phase, and it's not there.
It's more obvious if you watch the keyboard player's hands. His movement during the violin solo does not resemble the movement during other parts of the song, even those with superficially similar tempos.
@@SylviusTheMad it does not look sped up. You can tell by watching each of the people individually during the segment. Movements are normal.

Honestly, I think that this is the best cover of Master of Puppets I’ve ever heard. Of course, when you have a sensational singer like Robyn Adele Anderson at the mic, that’s no surprise. And Earl Maneein’s violin solo was outstanding! 👍😮🤩🎻 I thought it sounded like how Kirk Hammett would play it if he was a violinist!

Honestly I got kind of burned out on retro jazz covers, but Master of Puppets is one of my favorite songs and this version is so good. It's remarkable how you guys got it to feel so completely different but still recognizable.

At first, I was quite skeptical. I mean, I've seen Robyn and her musicians doing amazing things but, Master of Puppets? The song and album that defined my adolescence and the sound I always searched for? I took my chances and dared to listen... And I FREAKING LOVED IT! Thank you so much for this music dear Robyn!

Also the trumpet player, I dig the reinforced lead pipe, similar to what Wynton Marsalis uses.

Everybody was sped up in post. You can see it how their clothes move - I'm not sure why, but the video is clearly sped up for the solo. The solo would still have been impressive at regular "fast" playing tempo, so I'm not sure why they decided to speed up the footage in post. I feel that actually robs the performance of it's value, you know?

Nope not sped up. I played drums on this session and mixed the audio. That’s how we played it live on the day.

This goes to show, a good song is a good song no matter what genre it's in. This was extremely enjoyable for me. I mostly listen to rock, hard rock and metal with some pop and country thrown in. But I love a good jazz song. Beautiful!
