      A "real one" costs quite a bit more than this cheap HF one. Appreciate the comment though!

    Great explanation. Question: Small rocks. Is the pump/suction weak enough to not pick them up?

      You definitely wouldn't want to pick up small rocks larger than the rated debris diameter. I think this one is rated for 5/8 inch solids.

    Will this let you suck up mud too?

    Thanks, got a 50' bare bottom pond and was thinking along these lines.
    Definately DIY is cheaper and superior to the consumer junk.

    Add a ball valve to pipe to control flow. And you can start it when it is at bottom

    How often did you have to stop to clear the pump?

    To clean the pond with a motor pump, you need to use a Bagermaster suction nozzle

      While that's a really cool design, it looks like it would slice and dice my rubber pond liner. Appreciate the idea though!

    Thankyou for your video, I watched it. Because I have a stream with lots of leaves from trees, I remove 1 foot deep about 2 feet wide, of big dark leaves, with a net, the remaining leaves the net struggled to get, I thought your video was a helpful way to get the 2 inch gas engine etc..but at Harbor Freight I asked the salesman about my stream with the leaves etc..He strongly discouraged me from buying their two inch gas motor your video showed could do the job. I asked him where he got his information..he admitted it was how he was trained and other materials he read. So it discouraged me from buying one. So I came home and watched your video again. I think I’ll buy one, any other suggestions, would a 3 inch be more suitable? Price is quite a bit more..but if the 2 inch would do it..I’d rather do that..open for your thoughts,

      I would go with a 3inch depending on how much water flow you have. The 2 inch sucks up quite a bit of water. If the leaves are almost completely dissolved and its just sludge, you would probably be fine with the 2" one like I have. The big problem is getting it primed, you have to have a hose to prime it so itll suck. Cleaning my pond out, i had to clean the leaves/stems out twice i believe

    So you just have to remove 4 bolts to clean out debris? Are you kidding me? How many times did you do that?

    • @jbsdiygarage
      @jbsdiygarage  Рік тому

      What else would you suggest? I did it about 5 times total cleaning all the gunk out.

    How is it with mud?

    • @jbsdiygarage
      @jbsdiygarage  Рік тому +3

      Depends how thick it is but if its more like sludge, it should be pretty good
