Love your video! We are considering doing this to our painted siding. Can you confirm that you used an interior gel stain, and if you mixed the urethane with the stain or if it's individual coats?

Hello, the faux garage doors you’ve done look really nice. Im looking to try this on our garage doors, are you using regular paint or some kind of stain on top of the base coat? Also is the base coat a primer or regular flat paint?

The base coat primer is a regular latex paint. Any sheen is fine. Then, when that’s dry, I top with a combination of gel stain and spar urethane. It dries quickly so keep a wet edge while you work.

@@colorinthewater51 thank you, I just wanted to confirm I redid my door faux wood about a year ago with the Kona gel stain from Varathane and I couldn’t believe how real it looked. You should try it out some time, it works really good with a crème or beige base coat.

You can apply faux woodgraing to any stable surface including fiberglass, plastic, wood, steel, aluminum...
