Exlactly! I know how do you feel mate!!! It was the same to me!!! A friend of mine showed me the Utopia Song and then BAM! Instantly fall in love with Katie's Voice! Rest is history! Such a underrated Group! I can not believe it! I can not stop listening to their songs till today! Thanks Katie!
Joachim K. Indeed very cute and fascinating. I bet she wears the trousers and mind-controls you with her stern expression to always take out the garbage. :-) I'm totally mesmerized by this band and the awesome twins since their Cologne/2012 performance, especially the one to the left (with the black-yellow clothes). Just wasn't able to figure out yet if it's Sari or Romy. Twins should wear name tags. If I was 25 years younger, I'd for sure have put a poster of hers above my bed.
@@IndividualFreedomNet That's Sari. She's the more "free-flowing" one of the two. Usually easier to tell them apart when they don't wear headphones. And yes. Mesmerizing.
Their brilliant! I find it so interesting that her voice is so loud and clear yet her face barely moves compared to most singers, almost like its delayed.
not necessarily, iirc mouth position and facial posture is extremely important for intonation and tone e.g. cheeks lifted and lips slightly pursed and firm. unnecessary wideness of lips is a common mistake untrained singers make (including myself as I don't sing professionally at all! haha) listening to austra's music for the first time I instantly knew the singer sang opera or something, and it figured when I searched them up and the singer was classically trained!
18.55 and on is my favorite Austra recording. I like this live version (helped of course by video) better than my purchased digital release. The bass and drums so clear. KEXP introduced me to them a few years ago, and for that I am grateful. I haven't seen much of them recently on UA-cam.
Old skool video editing where the editor just jump cuts a clip of whatever that doesn't coincide with what's going on in the song. Like at 4:00, it's the the vocalist doing the "w'hooooooo hoooooo uuuuuuu ahhhhhhh" from the end of the song. Yeah, people in general are stupid and won't notice much, but musicians that watch the videos do notice things that don't match up. Remember the Cure on Top of the Props where Smith is playing guitar on a bass with the strings falling off or Gallop playing bass on a guitar with the strings so loose they are falling off? For the Cure, it was a protest against miming for the video. While this isn't mimed, the video editing does a disservice to the song.
on monday I will go down to hotstuff.se and place an order... I get it from spotify... and I dowload... but I am more than willing to pay for music if it is worth paying for! greetings from sweden and hope to see you here some of these days
i think it sounds really great ...and they move their shoulders :) but the mixing is pretty off. bass and drums are too loud and that throws it off. still great though.
This would sound much better if were just singers and string players. The drumming and all the electronic instrumentation just turn what could be nice and moving into bad dance music.
Dude seriously...? Listen to the mastered version of this, and tell me they sound good. Seriously I loved the CD but hearing this.... it's pretty disappointing, and the back up singers... ahh it's like none of them can actually sing :-/
four months ago a friend of mine showed me this video... since then i haven't stop listening to Austra, i just fell completly in love with them.

I agree. Have you heard "Painful Like"? Another great song of theirs.
The drummer is one of the most simultaneously cool and hot women I've ever seen. Her look is just captivating.
That performance of Beat and the Pulse gave me chills. Bravo!
I'm in love with this drummer-girl...

+Joachim K. She used to be in works with Robert Alfons of TR/ST :)

that's what happens when you have a classically trained vocalist.
bruh do you even?
So moving of the mouth shows lack of training? interesting.

wou i Love austra, I'm from Mexico, please come one day. One of my favorite bands of all time ! Good Luck

Great performance, great vocals, rhythm section, melody. Greetings from Greece.

Trust Us! Trust is good!!

Their performance of 'Spellwork' is better than the studio recorded version!
GOSH - why did I din't hear about this before - THANK YOU !

Saw these guys live last night , and they're better live in person !!!!!!!!
Awesome! I love it.

So good, I wish this set were 25 minutes long.
they are so awesome
love them !
awesome
When the bass and drums kick back in, in Lose It - great!
I think it must be the sound quality, because I know the backup singers and they are outstanding musicians.
Nice, very well done and harmonious. Everyone raves about the drummer babe, but the backing singers are the hottest if you ask me.
Katie's voice is gorgeous
essas backing vocals são muito zuadas
Nobody remembered Florence and the Machine while you were listening, cause, well, I did.
Applauses from Chile.
Fantastici!!!! :)
whatever! they're the best band out there these days!
Love
brilliant.

my favorite band at the moment! if you can do that live...hats off!they are all hot and super talented...chicken skin with Spellwork!!!!!!
Great!!!!!!
magic!!
wow. just wow
Powerful.
Classical trained singers here. No BMG, Unversal, Virgin crap. Its the real meat! :) Go on Austra.
Mathias Ahlqvist Listen to their band, Tasseomany (tasseomusic) and say that again! Sari and Romy are fantastic singers!
im not sure what to think of this,
it felt like i was watching the antagonists solo in a disney movie.
yesssssss
it's called a performance - it's what musicians normally do when they "perform" ;)
People don't have ears nowadays : this band is fucking amazing !
why do they never show the keyboardist?
+phira360 because a drummer is soo expreesive!!! ;)
Te amo 3
Performance de Spellwork
they look like a coven of wicins with pimples
they look like a coven of wicins with pimples
they look like a coven of wicins with pimples

+Kevin Gonzalez and? I love this band
yo! 😎

vaw-perfect!
they dance strange. very 80's!
Is this band still going?? just brought they're album
what are their names btw? particularity interested in the drummer :)
Namira Mer Wikipedia!
wtf happened to the sound engineer for the second song??
on monday I will go down to hotstuff.se and place an order... I get it from spotify... and I dowload... but I am more than willing to pay for music if it is worth paying for! greetings from sweden and hope to see you here some of these days
Maya Postepski
agreed
austra - это заебись!))) бэк-вокалистки очаровательны)
Lol they look like they just stepped off the film set of ‘lose it’
6:38 he is happy to have so many girls in the band :D
love the raw drums on lose it... too loud in the mix and super dry :-) best
the volume on the drums should be lowered IMO
i think it sounds really great ...and they move their shoulders :)
but the mixing is pretty off. bass and drums are too loud and that throws it off.
still great though.
inb4 Austra is the most famous band of all time
They are two of the most mischievous looking backup singers I’ve ever seen ha ha.
Haters Back Off
Just you.
Don't like the leering camera on Romy.
I could always do without the pretentious back up singers. Always been glad they weren't present the times I've seen Austra. Katie is amazing
Austra is better with the twins, you suck!
@@alquinn8576 Agreed. Those twins give it an other-worldly allure.
i love austra /.. and i love kexp but this didnt do it for me
so funny)))
Una mezcla de Florence & the machine, Lorena mckennit y sonido depeche mode
those twins are hot
If i be rich i'd like to buy those expensive instruments so in order to get into a good musician...
I don't... yeah...
@stevenbonao123
1:32 Is she crazy or acting crazy in some kind of misguided 'cool' way by smiling at empty space?
Is it just me or she sounds EXACTLY the same as Florence and the Machine?
are you serious? you must be. lol!
...and they're gay, which, you know, matters...
So many sexist comments. Listen!
I am going to see them just to check out those hot twins!
This would sound much better if were just singers and string players. The drumming and all the electronic instrumentation just turn what could be nice and moving into bad dance music.
Spellwork... my ears are already bleeding... the recording is WAY better... please stay autotuned
They didn't dance like this in the 80s. If it's an awkward hipster take on 80s dancing then perhaps.
They're great, but they have serious tune and balance problems. Not super professional.
Dude seriously...?
Listen to the mastered version of this, and tell me they sound good. Seriously I loved the CD but hearing this.... it's pretty disappointing, and the back up singers... ahh it's like none of them can actually sing :-/
the lead singer face looks so puffy. why didn't she use water pill before the gig?
Ahh kevin, that mentality.
say wuuuuuut
WTF is a waterpill? Do you mean like a water fast?
@@Retro-Future-Land look it up smart guy and no
@@kevingonzalez3673 Nah, you give me the TL;DR. Ain't nobody got time for that!
worst recording of Lose It ever, shame, bass guitar and drums were way too loud. shame.
Like the music but the vocals no
This might be familiar to you, but they're just being pretentious.
Sounds so bad.
awful
The drummer got 99 problems, but drumming ain't one.
