One of the greatest songs I've ever heard, one of the best in the XXI century. Austra brings back the style New Wave / Synthpop, showing that currently still produces good singers and bands.

you dont really need an analysis of this, the aesthetics are this way, however, the war elements seem to symbolize the tug of war between two people, they fought and hurt each other, everything is in chaos, they gambled bad and separed (the cards, which may as well be a wink to the solitaire game in windows 98, which serve as aesthetic but also as -solitaire- feeling alone) So lonely that cries - dont wanna lose ya-

I'm normally not a fan of vibrato singing, but she does it so masterfully it's like you're hearing a new instrument for the first time.
I think this might technically be tremolo, which could be why you like it over the more common kind of vibrato. The difference is subtle, but noticeable. Nina Simone was also famous for her tremolo.

I love the polyphony at the end, the song has three melodies: the verse, the chorus, and the bridge, and they fuse all three melodies together at the end. I didn't think it could be possible. Amazing video, masterpiece.

I find this video really disturbing, like a distorted dream. Everybody seems to think it's crap and cheep, but for me it brings out rather strong feelings, I feel sad and worried. The missile at the beginning really augur something dreadful. Great song.

@Anton ...only people who dount understand deeper things, see a crap video! ...if you see it you know that it is not made as a cheap vid, that would not be made sense ;). Im a musican and love art also (also modern abstract things, but not all) but not all kind of art, some modern art is all but not more art itself, but here it is concept behind there!, as you say it, it can be a dream like video. Or something she will say! ...btw. that song is a masterpiece and absolut underrated!!! ...and i know what i say, i be self a musican ;)

This is some of the most beautiful music I've heard in a very long time. I was surprised to see an official video with such an "indie" aesthetic, but it's not bad. Nothing can change the absolutely stellar quality of this song, mildly silly video or not.
