@@MasterBritannicJess you're welcome Jess ☺️
Yayy hello good video! :}
While I understand that you said you don't have a lot of information on Herr Seiss, I would be interested to find out how a naval officer and torpedo expert in the First World War winds up as a Lieutenant General in the Luftwaffe for the onset of the Second World War!! If he'd been an Imperial Naval Air Service pilot I could see the logic. Maybe he had something to do with torpedo bombing doctrine? There's a little story in that I think!! Thank you, I did enjoy this as I'd never heard of the gentleman before!
He learned to fly in 1935 and joined the Luftwaffe as a Major.
He sank two hospital ships during WW1 (both in November 1916).
@allangibson8494 , no kidding? What was the other hospital ship besides Brittanic?
If my math is correct, Seiss was 52 when he learned to fly. That's similar to William Halsey who wasn't young either. He was in his late 40's/early 50's when he learned. Thank you for writing!
A minor correction:
The prefix for Britannic is supposed to be HMHS, not HMS
