Man, I wanted to thank you for doing this video. I am not a mechanic, but I was able to change my injectors and it took 1.5 days. You saved me $1,100 in labor charges they quoted me in the dealership for my CRV. Bless you!

Amazing video!! On my channel I complain about the same rough idle problem (P0172 error code) which required changing all 4 fuel injectors and fuel rail on my 2018 1.5T Accord. I experienced this issue one year before your post otherwise I may have attemped it myself instead of spending ~$1600 for a mechanic to do the job. Nice video. I feel we are all driving a ticking time bomb with these Accords. Head gasket and fuel injectors. 😔 my second time watching this video. I’m getting ready. 😂
TWO BIG THUMBS UP!!! I watched this several times, and was able to get it done in just about 5 hrs every thing went super smooth except for a couple of them bolts you mentioned. Got lucky on mine and the fuel rail pulled out 3 of the injectors, lol. Great video hope you do more with the 18 accord.
Thank you for this video. I'm having this same issue of engine struggling on a cold start, and misfires. I've changed plugs, coils, cleaned MAF and throttle body, changed oil, added injector cleaner to my fuel, and the issue persists. At this point, I'm 95% positive it's faulty fuel injectors.
I have a 2017 civic 1.5 t and got it done with help from this video. There are only a couple of hoses/mounts that are different. This is a really good walk though- thank you 🤘
Did you have a skip in acceleration around 3k rpm? I just replaced my injectors on my 2017 civic 1.5 because of the skip and I still have the problem..
Very good info. When I diagnose these I pull all plugs and use a bore scope right in the cylinder. The cylinders will fill with gasoline which finds its way past the rings as well. I always recommend an oil change as well.
Excellent!! Very comprehensive video. I like how you have all the part numbers and the torque specs for the rail and manifold. I have a 2018 Civic Si with this engine. I usually have a shop do most of what I need done, but I recently had the head gasket replaced and ARP head studs put in and it was quite costly. I also replaced the factory intercooler and charge pipes with a Mishimoto unit, which I installed. This seems simple enough to me and I am mechanically inclined.
@@ballsoutperformance Took me 6 hours, but I really took my time and I actually had to remove my cold air intake and the cold side charge pipe to make things a bit easier. Car is running awesome again like new!
@@ballsoutperformance Do you recommend doing head studs with only valve cover removed if the gasket seems good still? I saw a video with the factory bolts looking awfully small and weak
Is the engine modded and/or are you planning on modding it more than basic bolt ons? Im not super familiar on this type of engine or its weaklinks. Ive done headstuds on many engines but ive always removed the head to do so and replaced or upgraded the gasket and resurfaced the head. I never wanted to take the risk of leaving the head on, although many people do it without issue. On some engines you have to pull the cams and everything anyway, so at that point you may as well remove the head. Id look at what others are doing with this engine platform. If headgasket failure is common on these and you plan on making substantially more HP than stock, then it would be a worthwhile upgrade.
@@ballsoutperformance I am concerned on the torque sequence. How would it go with ARP studs? I would only do it as a preventative and for longevity. My mods do not compromise longevity because they are hardware not software and bolt ons. So airflow enhancements. 115k miles. Run good oil and super unleaded.
Thanks for the help used this for my 2017 CRV. My intakes were disgustingly dirty. Sprayed it down stuffed it with some shop towels and did the best I could. I would recommend posting in the description a list of torque values. Personally I think reusing the fuel pipe is not an issue it’s a flare you can reuse them in common rail diesels which operate at much higher pressures why not here? Also good luck getting a crow foot with a torque wrench on that damn flare no way is a 3/8ths fitting in that space. Also when you try to remove the fuel pipe from the pump housing what I did was hit the flare wrench with a hammer to shock it off since its almost impossible to do it once it’s removed, which means loosen it before you loosen the pump lol. Again thank you for doing it your way.
It came with a new fuel pipe so I just used it. It also comes with a lubricant to apply when reconnecting it. It’s almost impossible to apply the correct 46 fr pounds of torque I just cranked it down. No issues. If you’re close to nyc I’m down to do it with you.
The dealer wouldn’t sell me just injectors it’s a kit including the rail now. I don’t see why you couldn’t reuse it. It’s a stainless pipe with flares on it. What could go wrong. Just put a lube of some kind into the surface it must be for some reason cause they supplied it and they know more than me. Didn’t take long. I did it on civic and my knees were killing me from being bent over.
Firstly, I've been a Master Certified Mechanic for 32 years now (including developing book times and Technical procedures at Roush Technical) and you Sir are a Great Mechanic. Your videos are also top notch. I was researching this Injector problem on this vehicle yesterday for a customer and wound up here. Where did you find these injectors? Have that Issue on my New 23-24 Honda Accord Hybrid, All New Crv Hybrids have it too.. Supposably has to do with Capless Fuel tank , Dirt enters the tank when you insert the fuel pump, dirt accumulates in the tank and the fuel filter doesn’t catch most of the dirt. It later travels into fuel injectors leaving them stuck open.. High Recommend Dropping and Cleaning the Fuel Tank and Changing the Fuel Filter when you change the Injectors
pro tip: if you remove the base plate at the bottom of the battery tray(5 bolts) with a long extension you can easily get to the pesky nut your talking about that holds the high pressure fuel pipe..
Nice video! I just tried this but reused the fuel rail pipe because these injector kits are all gone apparently like others have complained about. Now I'm getting p0087 fuel rail system pressure too low. I'm thinking it's because of that pipe or maybe it's the injectors I used off a '22 Civic 1.5t

Great video and it looks easy only problem is time . I have a problem bro maybe you can help here I have a 2018 accord sport 1.5L I drive my car 3 days about 50 miles each way everyday so I see my coolant gets low you know why ? Thanks
You have to keep adding to it? You either have an external leak or something internal (headgasket possibly). Look for visible leaking on the engine/ground and go from there.
I have a 2018 accord sport 1.5 motor So my car has a rough start for about 3-5 seconds then goes away. If I drive it normally is good. If I get in the gas pedal I’ll get a random misfire in cylinder 4,3or 2. I switch the coils around and still have the same issue. I even bought new spark plugs and still have the same issue. I check compression and there all good. So my question is. Do you think I need new injectors
Same here brother, I’m to the point of selling this car to car max before the situation lingers into something else, it’s so unfortunate that these cars suck man
How do you know that the injectors need to be replaced. These injectors should last at least 200k miles. Here in Europe, they are very expensive, 800 euros for four plus labor, which comes to 1,500 euros. So it is necessary to be sure if they are really bad.
It's become a known issue, and many have reported that after replacing them, the engine codes have cleared and symptoms of misfire and/or odd idle have gone away. I have the code P0172 on my car, and I am going to try this fix.
Do u have to replace the sparkplugs as well when u do this job? I just replaced my spark plugs abt 2-3 days ago and i dont wana have to buy another whole new set
You dont have to. I did because they were oem plugs and the car had been experiencing a rich condition. If you just changed yours then theres no need to do so again
@@ballsoutperformance bet thank u man. Do u think my injectors are bad? My cars a 2021 1.5t with 23k miles but shes running weird rn n having an the symptoms of bad injectors
Have you noticed a drop in your MPG after install? Mines was about 38.8 and after install it’s now 29-30. We did not remove the battery tho. Our old injectors was covered with black soot, so I’m assuming they were clogged and limiting fuel to the engine like a perma eco mode.
If a fuel injector has a poor spray pattern due to being clogged, could it just need a cleaning to fix and not replacement? mine was diagnosed by honda for bad spray pattern leaving fuel in cylinder but not anymore details which seems vague to me.
Hey, boss, I'm about to tackle this job this week. Your video was very helpful. I'm gonna watch it as I'm doing it. Step-by-step. Also wanted to ask you first. It was just showing me that 1 injector or was burning richer whatever. I already change the spark plugs to fuel. Pump the coils and it came down to I guess that once my car was running rough, I started it up and then when I stepped on the gas pedal like it wanted to die out and then it would catch. Does that mean it is the fuel injectors correct? Because I also changed the M AF sensor 2.
Thanks for the support. I cant say for sure that your issue is a fuel injector. It sounds like youve already eliminated most everything else but i cant, in good faith, without looking at it in person determine that it is your issue.
Honda parts now has the new part number for the fuel injectors. It will show the discontinued at the top but scroll down and you will find the new injectors. If you want the part number look in the comments I put it in a comment today July 11,2024
Thanks for the video. Since this was uploaded 6 months ago, do you have any updates? Did this fix the issue it came in for? Did you happen to look for carbon build up on the intake valves to see how they looked?
Pretty sure both ends of that line compress to fit once torqued down. Since you're removing it from the rail, its recommended to replace. Possible you could get away with reusing but might as well spend the extra and not worry about future leaks.
Hello, my 2018 Honda Accord is misfiring, I have 100,500 miles on it, the warranty from Honda expired at 100,000 miles. Do you have the website were you purchased the fuel injectors and is someone privately available to do this in Southern California? thank you
Good video, but I would have removed that solenoid from the steel vacuum tubes. Could not put up with that being in the way throughout. Otherwise thanks for posting.
I have a 2020 1.5 turbo I noticed on a cold start the card would vibrate for a few second and now all my warning lights are on. I believe I'm having the same issue please help
That could be anything could be bad fuel, clogged injectors or the battery needs replaced the new Honda engine as are so dependent on the 12v batteries having a good charge if the voltage is dropping it can set off many bells and whistles, you really need to plug in an OBD scanner to see if any codes are stored on the computer that will give you a fair idea, I service Hondas and Toyotas for a living, it could be something that simple, usually is. Worst case scenario Carbon fouling on the inlet valves or injectors, but would usually need to be a high mileage for that to happen or a poorly serviced car.
I cant remember exactly but i remember having to fool around with it for a while to get it to fit. I think maybe that bracket was supposed to go on before the intake manifold, and by me doing it in the wrong order, it made it hard to reach one of the bolts.
@BallsOutPerformance thanks for the reply brotha..yeaa I had to pause on your video to see the way it went in...heat shield bracket..does need to go in b4 like you said otherwise haha it's not going in,you can only hit that 1 bolt...Anyways! How would I be able to acquire the fuel injectors, I’m able to buy the gaskets and pipe set fuel joint but Honda states they discontinued the fuel injectors and the ones on Amazon seem very unreliable, any suggestions?
same thing happened to me...Used new gaskets torqued everything evenly, No vacuum leaks... codes were P301& P304 misfires. replaced plugs and coil packs the codes are gone now I have P2187 DTC. I think I'm going to replace the fuel pump now hopefully this cures the lean idle? Great video on the injector video!
Hello. It took me around 3 hours. I couldve done it a little faster if I were not filming. If i recall i think the book time was listed at around 3 hours
So I have 2018 Accord Sport and while driving at times, I’m not able to accelerate. My dash looks similar to the one in the video. To make it to my destination I have to pull over, turn off the car and turn it back on and I’m usually able to make it home. Is this what you encountered as well.

Book time is 3 hours. So whatever your mechanic charges per hour x3
I cant say. Get it checked out by a reputable shop familiar with hondas.
@@ballsoutperformance thanks man
Have you noticed a drop in your MPG after install? Mines was about 38.8 and after install it’s now 29-30. We did not remove the battery tho. Our old injectors was covered with black soot, so I’m assuming they were clogged and limiting fuel to the engine like a perma eco mode.
Not sure. If not my car, so I'm not aware if there was an mpg difference. The owner never complained of such.
@@ballsoutperformance did you replace the high pressure pump
No
@@ballsoutperformance so just replace the injectors and the fuel line correct?
Where did you find the directions?
Thnk you for your timely response
What size torque wrench do I need? Like a 3/4 or 3/8th?
When do u need to change ur injectors?
No need to change injectors. They simply wash off, replacing the microfilter, Teflon and rubber. Then check 40-120 Bar and put it back into the car.
Aren’t the intake gaskets reusable?
You can if they are in good shape, but as cheap as the gaskets are, may as well replace them.
Did you have to use a scanner for the throttle body position before you unbolted the throttle body?
No
I'm having a hard time finding the parts at a good price.. or at all in most places.. Can you recommend an online dealer that you usually use?
Hondapartsonline, hondapartsnow, etc
Just tried these sites and 2 out of 3 pieces are discontinued 😢
Honda parts now has the new part number for the fuel injectors. It will show the discontinued at the top but scroll down and you will find the new injectors. If you want the part number look in the comments I put it in a comment today July 11,2024
Thanks for the video. Since this was uploaded 6 months ago, do you have any updates? Did this fix the issue it came in for? Did you happen to look for carbon build up on the intake valves to see how they looked?
Yes, the issue was fully resolved. No I did not look any further than the injectors.
@@ballsoutperformance appreciate the reply. Cheers
I'm looking at buying a Honda Civic 2018 1.5T. They replaced the injectors @60K miles. Yikes? No big deal, they last 60K? Thoughts?
Seems to be common on these. This car had around 70k
My civic si needs them at 65k
Great video I have a question why is recommended to change the line that is from the pump to the fuel rail ?
Im not sure. I think it wss stated why in the service manual but I cant recall
Pretty sure both ends of that line compress to fit once torqued down. Since you're removing it from the rail, its recommended to replace. Possible you could get away with reusing but might as well spend the extra and not worry about future leaks.
I bought my 2018 accord ex a couple years ago, used, and at 76k miles I’m having this fuel injector problem.
Seems to be common.
Would a fuel injector throw a P219F code.? Or would anybody know what does the code actually mean… thanks 🙏🏼
Hello another question how did you get those service manual print out sheets at 1:00
Its from a paid service (mitchell on demand) similar to alldata, identifix, etc. I no longer have a subscription though.
Thank you
Would it be just the spark plug if my cylinder air/gas ratio is coming up as an error ?
You didnt say it in the video but it looked like you ended up taking off the hood of the car? And removing the battery also.
No, not the hood. I removed the battery for additional working space.
If it's like the civic, the hood has two prop positions. The service mode one raises it higher, giving extra room.
Throttle bolts have to be screwed at 18 lbs as well?
9 ft lbs on the Throttle body bolts.
Where did you buy the parts ?
Great video. How many miles does the Honda have? What fuel did you use premium or normal? Where can it be found work shop manual honda crv 2019?
Around 75k miles. Not sure what fuel they used. I use "Mitchells On Demand"
Otherwise thanks for posting.
does this apply on honda hrv 2020?
Any tips on how to remove the wire connector from the injector? Having a hell of time trying to pull that off injector
Sometimes if the clip doesnt want to release, push the connector further on first, then press the release on the clip, then pull off.
Did you have to program the injector’s ID number to the ECM after the replacement?
No, i did not.
Do I have to replace the gaskets from before???!
I would replace all associated gaskets
i have 2017 crv. i need new fuel injector for my crv. just wondering where r u located? i want to bring my car to ur shop let me know ty
@ 24:18 I can not find the other screw hole for this lol..what am I missing boss? Having issues 😅 figuring which way it goes back on
I cant remember exactly but i remember having to fool around with it for a while to get it to fit.
BIG THANKS To you for teaching me how to..injectors are done car is smooth, appreciate you.
Glad to hear that!
How would I be able to acquire the fuel injectors, I’m able to buy the gaskets and pipe set fuel joint but Honda states they discontinued the fuel injectors and the ones on Amazon seem very unreliable, any suggestions?
Good question. I really don't know. There may be some reliable aftermarket options out there, I'm just not sure what they are.
Question why did you have to change the small fuel line?
I was following the oem repair procedure which required changing that line as well. Thank you.
Thanks
what is the size of the bolt connected to the metal fuel line? 10mm?
Where did you get your parts from, Honda dealer trying to charge me $1600
Injector Kit Fuel (superceded from 16010-5PA-305) - Honda (06160-5PA-305
I did this and must have screwed something up now I have a p2187 code. Any idea?
The code wasnt present before? Ill have to look into it.
same thing happened to me...Used new gaskets torqued everything evenly, No vacuum leaks... codes were P301& P304 misfires. replaced plugs and coil packs the codes are gone now I have P2187 DTC. I think I'm going to replace the fuel pump now hopefully this cures the lean idle? Great video on the injector video!
What fixed the issue?
How long did it take you to complete the job? Honda dealership told me it’s a 3 to 5 hour job!
Hello. It took me around 3 hours. I couldve done it a little faster if I were not filming. If i recall i think the book time was listed at around 3 hours
Are you in Chicago? Lol
Is it safe to assume that this video could apply to a 2018 Civic with a 1.5L?
Im not familiar with the civics 1.5. I would assume it should be very similar but cant confirm
So I have 2018 Accord Sport and while driving at times, I’m not able to accelerate. My dash looks similar to the one in the video. To make it to my destination I have to pull over, turn off the car and turn it back on and I’m usually able to make it home. Is this what you encountered as well.
I cant comment, the car is not mine. The dealer diagnosed it, and it was brought to me to install the parts.
having this same issue, cannot rev. past 2000RPM. its the fuel injectors. took it to the dealership to confirm; diagnostic states: A/F test failed x2 times; needs injectors.
My 2018 honda started de-accelerating abruptly at around 70 mps and showing codes such as misfires and system too rich (different banks). I just replaced the sparkplugs and it still has issues. Do you think it's the injectors ?
Yea its possible. Failing injectors can cause those issues. May want to have a qualified shop diagnose it.
Does the 2018 Honda Accord 1.5t have a fuel pressure Schrader valve where I can test the fuel pressure ??
No. You would need to tee into the factory line which would require a special adapter to connect to the factory quick connect fittings
