marine might be the hot fudge, sprinkles, and oreo bits on your sundae but you need to provide your own ice cream, otherwise it's just an empty bowl full of toppings
Actually, mad respect to Marine for going out of her way to say that. Parasocial dependencies are destructive for fans and streamers alike, but the very nature of idol (or "idol") vtubers seems to nurture that. That's responsible work ethics right there.
I always worry that sth. will happen to the Vtubers, cuz of parasocial relationships a. idol culture in general. Hope that HoloLive will be more vocal about it (Like PSAs o. sth.) to avoid future harassment a. protect the members. I mean, we had incidents in the past that were iffy a. badly handled by the company itself.
I think the reason why HoloJP is the weakest when it comes to fight back trolls and antis is because this is how Idol is depicted in the society of japan, that's why probably some of them even blame themselves when their fans become extreme because they are being 'careless'. Marine however has experienced professional work environment, surrounded by actual professional adults who has experienced the harsh reality of the world. This give her the rational wisdom that many teenagers didn't have.
The biggest problem is parasocial relationships are very big in Japan, massive part of its entertainment industries and often actively encouraged so I do worry for JP bros and cringe whenever I see someone supporting it unironically/unjokingly, luckily its just not as big in the west. (I think.. hope)
@@stormblade3408 for a while I did see some comments in youtubers who are especially funny and it's like "Your videos are something to look forward to every day" or "Your videos are the reason I wake up" but it was only recently in a r/Hololive reddit thread I happened to find that I realized there is a very distinct difference between the two. That same reddit thread is also what brought me here
That description lmao. She's right you know, put yourself above other people. Only when you help yourself, can you start helping others. People tend to forget that under the "I'm horny, luna-punting forever 17 year old woman" Is a genuinely charming and interesting individual with a ton of life experience. This is a good clip. It shows the other side of Senchou many ichimi's love. She's a great example, and we're all proud to be part of her crew!
I love how this is a topic she keeps repeating because it's an important lesson and something to keep in mind. This girl is literally leading by example with how she's been conducting her activities since her debut: creating and cohosting a radio show, forging new connection outside the agency, with entertainment personalities and content creators, taking on loads of work to the point of self destruction with said work having a huge payout... she's basically worked her ass off behind scenes and on stream to carve out her own place in the world. Because of how varied her work is, it's not all one solid chunk of happiness, but rather small stacked plates so in the case one of those goes away she's not dead inside.
It just shows how clever a. experienced she's. Senchou knows that HoloLive is a big opportunity, but w. many risks a. not a longterm thing as well. That's why she works her ass off to use this chance to the fullest, while diversifying a. making a name outside of HoloLive.
It doesn't matter who you are. When you are as big of a streamer/vtuber as Senchou, you cannot individually love all of your fans. It is physically impossible, no matter who you are. I believe she loves us as an audience, and as her fans, but individual love is something else. I reccommend you think of her as an entertainer. Of course, while saying all that.... I fucking love her. But you have to accept the truth. Put yourselves first guys, and maybe someday in the future you actually get the chance to be with her more! You never know!
I'd like to add that it's important to make a distinction between Marine the vtuber and Marine the person, the whole point of vtubers is that their model allows them to be someone else. Granted that Marine doesn't really bother putting on a facade but the thing is that we know Marine the pirate, not Marine the woman behind her. As such, we don't *actually* know her and while it can be sad for some of us it's probably better this way because this distance is also part of what allows her to truly express herself. *Acting like I'm wise but I'm struggling to resist the gachikoi myself...*
@@burnoutcat2387 I like to think it's ok to be gachikoi (responsibly; not a toxic one) as my online self, just as Senchou is horni 17 2nd Season, or Nenechi has 500k husband's forever, as their online selves. It's an indulgence that's only possible with the acceptance that it's not completely real.
@@ex_potato The distinction is harder to keep with the ones who are being themselves even when they're streaming but I see your point, allows them to do stuff like Coco's famed hair removal streams too since it's another persona
Hololive has become one of the many things to make me happy. I'm grateful. Though I won't be dead without them. Sure it hurts when the one I love is not streaming, but I can do other things and still miss them. I want everyone to be happy too. They didn't have to make me smile, and yet there one of the many reasons I can keep on pushing forward. I'm gonna keep on enjoying life. Smile and all that fun stuff. I feel really blessed. ❤
She doesn't limit it to just celebrities/famous people either, and that's why it's so wise. These dependent relationships can happen between two normal people. It helps to realize that while it is good to feel happy together, you and your partner are never above or below the other. As lovers (or even as friends) you are either on the same level or you are not in a healthy relationship. Those will deteriorate in some way, shape or form. Take care everyone, and I hope all of us find the right one someday.
I love how wholesome she is and down to earth her advise is... It's as she said, your life/happiness can't depend on others, but in yourself. It's hard to get to the point where you don't hate yourself anymore, but it's worth trying.
Me too, adressing parasocial relationships is important especially in the idol business. (Harassment, doxxing, put to a pedestial) It's good that HoloLive benefits UR life, but like Senchou said, ya shouldn't depend on it. Though the guy has probly issues IRL, so I hope that he takes Senchou's advice sincere a. improve his current situation.
Marine's right actually, relying solely on others to be motivated to do something. which is why i still rely on my hand to do the job until today, nobody touches my birdie, unless you're an amputee, which in that case, hands off.
You'd think it'd be an obvious thing not to be dependent on what us essentially a stranger online. But there's people who actually develop romantic or dependent feelings to these entertainers. Seriously it's scary to think how far people would fall into that sense of escapism to continue feeling motivated.
Great display of integrity and responsibility. In an age so many online streamers would gladly exploit such viewers by encouraging parasocial fantasy, she has the integrity to give a gentle but firm no instead of just vaguely brush it off. Despite not liking horny fan service stuff, I respect her a lot for these mature takes. And it is important for this person to hear this directly from her. Hopefully they heeded her advice.
This is why I love Senchou, I come for the horny but come back with important knowledges xD Joke asides, I agree with Senchou. It'll be devastating if your happiness depends only on someone and you lose it, even if it's just for a moment
I can definitely relate. I was happy when I was with my ex because I was dependent on her, but once we broke up, I felt like dying. It took me a long time to actually move on and be happy with myself.
Kinda scary thinking that if you take a break from streaming or decide to stop all together, that there are people who will actually kill themselves if you do. I'm glad she said this and I hope her fans take this to heart and better their lives
i think the fact that making money is the number one thing that makes me feel happy speaks a lot about how one dimensional i am. well it's not that i hate it tho, making money is fun. and spending it on things that you want is just bonus.
Very responsible and reasonable take, especially considering her line of work. Dude needs to chill out a bit, needs to start making some wood carved Tanuki in his/her spare time... or y'know some other better hobby even.
I think the message was more that you should find multiple things that make you happy rather than one so you would still have something to that makes you happy and not end up sitting there as your world crumbles around you.
Oof. Careful kids. Parasocial relationships and emotional dependency are unhealthy. That being said, it goes both ways. I hope all these shared feelings won't weigh Marine down and she takes care of herself.
Incredible advice here. I wish more people who are into the whole idol scene would take this to heart, but I know that’s asking a lot from people who are so far gone to act responsibly. This couldn’t be more true for interpersonal relationships, too. Don’t ever pin your happiness on one person. It’s not healthy or sustainable

This is LITTERALY a sweet metaphor
Bravo sir, bravo
