I actually love the character of Kei Nagase and I'm glad that she's back in Ace Combat 7. Interestingly, I also had a close friend in high school who I thought looked and sounded a lot like her. This was also when I was a cadet in my high school US Navel Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program, were unfortunately I was unable to get certain high achieves like reaching officers rank or at least reaching the highest enlisted rank. Despite this, I'm still prude of my accomplishments in high school and did win some good awards through my school as well in addition to earning some ribbons along with the rank of seamen. Anyway, what I meant is that seeing the character of Kei Nagase now for me doesn't just give me a sense of nostalgia since I had also played Ace Combat 5 a lot during my junior high school and high school years, but also due to me positive experiences with having a great friend from high school who's last name was Wu. I think she also had a similar empathic personality to the one that Nagase's character has as well and think she actually might have been genuinely romantically interested in me, since I'm also a pretty empathic person as well. If that was the case, then what she told me about what she felt about me was true. However, she wasn't able to act on it due to the program's rules governing fraternization between members that were of officer rank and lower ranking members. I understood this as well and had no intention of getting her in trouble with either of our instructors or any other authority figures at the school. Either way, I'm glad to have these memories and that seeing Kei Nagase show up in Ace Combat 7, helps me keep them alive as well. I also have the Ace Combat 5: Squadron leader version of that game for PS4 as well though, which I love! :)
I still have some other ac7 question: 1) why did harling turn around and go back to the space elevator? 2) what ever happened to those osean traitors? There's that F16 that shoots down that general we save in that night mission, but we never follow up on that.
1) Supposed to be that you don't know exactly. Either to save the elavator (and Nagase) (more likely) or to destroy the elevator (less likely) 2) It wasn't an osean traitor it was a drone controlled by the dr. evil doctor man I believe. Similarly to how they made it seem like trigger took out harling.
@@YhokoCaeda Why couldn't he just tell the Osean military the significance of that space elevator to him and let them take care of the rest? I'm sure they would've obliged (even though it's still deep inside Erusean territory at that point in the story). Besides, saving it from what? His plane was drawing the drones AWAY from the space elevator before he turned around and got shot down.
So that means Trigger does not get a Waifu? Cause Brownie’s out of the picture. Edit: Just remembered Trigger might get Scrap Queen. Man shit. That’s hot.
I just love Ace Combat 5. And i had the same feeling playing AC7. So the writer is the same. That's why. I went crazy when i saw Nagase on AC7. And i knew it was the same!
This is great and all, but I hate it when publishers pull off this kind of stuff; intentionally making a plot hole and forcing you to preorder a collector's edition because the source material that covers up said plot hole is only available there and nowhere else. That inaudible line from Harling when he was flying towards the space elevator was just lazy, pure static noise. They should have given us just a few audible words mixed in with the static, just enough bread crumbs to imply that the space elevator served a secret, second purpose. But no, instead we got the pure static that left us hanging after wondering what the fk just happened.
How PA can kick the series off again: Create another holy trinity(including AC7) based on something to do with that asteroid, giving Nagase a key role in the other 2 games, and ending it by succeeding with an inch away from Strangereal being destroyed.
@@SaltyGamer777 belkans, still sore and salty, decides to "make changes" to the asteroid redirection operation, fucks up, and put strangereal in jeopardy. assuming asteroid redirection program involves blowing chunks off it to steer it off course, belka secretly changed it so the blown off chunks will strike the planet. plan somewhat succeeds, but the broken chunk was bigger than was expected and it could cause another ulysses, so now everyone have to clean up after the nation that did nothing wrong. tada~ AC8 end game premise done.
So Strangreal was saved two times in 2019. Trigger, Osea and Erusea destroyed the Ravens, and Kei managed to destroy an asteroid headed towards Strangereal. Neat.
When I first heard Nagase's voice I was positive I skipped a previous cut scene or missed some critical radio chatter. It's great to know the real story, but it's marginally irritating that the only way to learn it was from the collector's edition. (until this informative video came out of course).
I just got into Ace Combat with Ace Combat 7... and I regret not finding it sooner. I already finished ace combat 7 4 times and am doing a 5th run just to get the last medals.
As a PC gamer, thank you for taking the time to explain this. I haven't had the opportunity to play the other games (minus X), so was really lost to the ending; that said, as an outsider to the franchise, I think they should have wrapped things up using the charachters and arcs showcased in the game itself rather than with something only people who have access to a Playstation would have understood.
has anybody figured out who was the voice say, today was the day of her return at 9:38. it been bugging me because it does sound like any voice we heard before
My biggest disappointment with AC7 is the lack of different missions types. In AC6 you had a great balance between Anti Air and Anti Ground, also the ambiance of the entire war made it feel like their was an actual conflict happening, In AC7 only a small number of missions included ground engagements and air engagements, I missed the combined arms missions. Also being honest, I missed the whole wingman feature as well, choosing their aircraft and giving them orders. Felt really odd to fly in AC7 'Fleet Destruction' with a squadron of F-15C Fighter Aircraft where it was primarily a Anti-Ground/Ship mission... Maybe im bitching for no reason and maybe some of y'all agree with me. Let me know
Nagase: We've returned to a find the promised Bridge if Peace! That must mean peace has been attained in the world. AWACS Long Caster: You guys would not believe how much war you missed on your trip!
I need to ask a question. I just got done playing AC5 the Unsung War. At the end of the game it clearly states that, "The Sand Island Squadron better known as the Demons of Razgriz has since disappeared without a trace." Kei's awfully public for someone who disappeared without a trace isn't she? By the way Ace Combat Fan does that book say what happened to Blaze, Snow and Grimm?
0:44 damn thats a looong track record 😳 i thought i knew her from Ace Combat Infinity but didn't know she was in so many other games too wowie, a true legend to be in that many games, and battles
I do wonder how did she get through the debris field formed by the ablation cascade after Osea and Erusea's destroyed each other's satellites. But since she's an ace pilot, I bet it was just another normal day at work for her.
The International Space Elevator is supposedly 100,000 kilometres tall, which is well above the orbital distance of satellites. So presuming Nagase docked somewhere near the top, she would have been well above the main debris field. Plus we saw that a lot of debris fell towards the planet, so maybe the debris field was thinned out by that point.
It explains a great deal of Harling's decision to fly at the space elevator. He was trying to protect it, to ensure that the woman that saved his life twice would have a chance to come home.

1:37 But Belka DID nothing wrong. Those nukes were just a prank bruh ;^)
Cara minha mente explodiu *Boom!!!!*
Bom trabalho Ace Combat Fan!
0:18 Technically, I'd be among one of the latter. But it's 'cause AC6 was my first.
That was without a doubt the best ending an ace combat game has ever had!!! I cried so much!!!
This was absolutely beautiful. Really wish I'd gotten a copy of Aces at War to experience this read myself.
But what happened to Chopper after AC5? ... oh wait ;_;
Rip Chopper..
F o7
🙁😔😪😭
Oof 😁😁😁😁
TOO SOON
He hopefully got a stadium named after him.
I was hoping we'd get a Kei in a Swimsuit livery, aircraft skin, or themed aircraft in Ace Combat Infinity
Am I the only one who had chills on the cutscenes leading up to the final mission? And ALSO when Nagase was speaking? Man, I miss Nagases silence that made you think she'd be the final boss in AC5.
Finally someone who loves ace combat as much as I do, glad I found your channel.
Wonder why Bandai didn't include some of the steelbook stories in as assault records? Could have explained a lot of the story to us through those like in AC Zero.
The story of ace combat zero took place in the past, and we were watching it unfold. Most of the feeling drawn from 7 came from the present (lack of information, chaos, radicalism, ect.). IMO it prob made for a better story.
@@MiG1386 AC7 is the first game to take place in the same year it came out in (correct me if Im wrong). And Im not counting the ones in the real world. So one year later we have the events to Ace Combat X, and then in 2040 we get AC3 right?
@@DAN007thefoxx1 Confirmed, AC3 Remake in 2040! Fully compatible with Coffin VR produced by Belk- errrr I mean Gründ- uhhh I mean *GERMANY!*

And I am thinking a headcanon Grunder Industries merge other Belkan/former Belkan companies into General Resource. The scientists who flirt with ethical violations broke off to form Neucom.
I miss the XFA-27 and R-101. So bad.
@@DAN007thefoxx1 If we completely ignore the mess that was Horizons, yes, it was.
That was some good lore.
Ace Combat really has some good storyline.
Thank you ACF.
I'm glad they made a more direct connection between the games this time, but if Mihaly really took down every single exceptional pilot throughout all those years, as he claims, can we speculate previous aces from the games were shot down by him? I know how it works, I know... but it just bothers me so much that every decade or so there is a legendary pilot and no one remembers them.
He would never survive Blaze.
Well IMO all other ace that we play already retired from their activities,,,Due to their last sortie
YES! That's EXACTLY what I've been saying, across multiple threads and comment sections too..
Clearly the people of strangereal have very short memories...and no ANZAC spirit of "Lest we forget"
"..Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.."
Sigh, nevermind..
Like RAI FUKAI, i will just fly entirely for myself, and my own reasons now..just Yukikaze & me.
These ungrateful earther/strangereal bastards are just not worth risking your life for..
They cant even remember you, much less still want to talk about & honour you & your heroic deeds, or your personal sacrifices..or those of your wingmen & comrades..not even less than a decade later..?
Countries like that, just let the enemy have them..it's natural selection..at its finest!
Soldiers fight to protect the young, innocent, loyal & currently unable..
Not the lazy, cowardly, inept or apathethic..
And for DAMN SURE NOT a bunch of bastards that didnt even think a serious commemerative memorial, right on that old jammer site in the middle of STONEHENGE, to Mobius1 !?
Would be the bare minimum standard, for real appreciation & respect?
Gee, for finally taking down the monstrosity that denied the airspace over nearly their entire continent..the original cause of the entire war..and keeping it going, and also the first ever downing of a Aquilla sqn. yellow (4), by allied aircraft..
Nah, nothin' about that worthy of any praise, just ask yellow 13..
And no need to remember that his own entire sqn of ace erusian top-guns got downed by this same ace, either..nah.
How's that noteworthy..?
Mihaly apparently downed them all..Blaze, mobius 1..(but he somehow missed Kai Nagase, oops!)
Okay, enough said..
Cipher would have cut down Mihaly's career before it even took off.
@@nutebob1560 Not Mobius 1 though.
My first game was Ace Combat 7. I never knew who Nagase was. After playing 5, I’ve gained a new respect for this reference.
When you spoke about the space mission at 8:45 - Ace Combat 3's mission Zero Gravity flashes in mind.
I still have some other ac7 question:
1) why did harling turn around and go back to the space elevator?
2) what ever happened to those osean traitors? There's that F16 that shoots down that general we save in that night mission, but we never follow up on that.
1) Supposed to be that you don't know exactly. Either to save the elavator (and Nagase) (more likely) or to destroy the elevator (less likely)
2) It wasn't an osean traitor it was a drone controlled by the dr. evil doctor man I believe.
Thanks for letting that last cutscene run through. Goosebumps every time
Wait. A. MINUTE! Kei and Reiko are SISTERS!?!? 😲
And AC2/assaunt horizon legacy's Nagase is their cousin. Sidenote: That Nagase is in AC04 as the civilian pilot.
Reiko is 1975 and nagase is 1977
Ace Combat 2/3D's Nagase is confirmed to be Reiko's sister.
So that means Trigger does not get a Waifu? Cause Brownie’s out of the picture.
Edit: Just remembered Trigger might get Scrap Queen. Man shit. That’s hot.
revolverswitch Kinda.
so kei nagase is basically the johnny sasaki in ace combat
I just love Ace Combat 5. And i had the same feeling playing AC7. So the writer is the same. That's why. I went crazy when i saw Nagase on AC7. And i knew it was the same!
I literally just finished the game 10 minutes ago, absolutely loved it and I cannot wait to unlock the x-02s
WTF I played 3 and 04 and still thought she was introduced in 5. Had no idea she was a sort of MGS Johnny kind of deal.
How PA can kick the series off again: Create another holy trinity(including AC7) based on something to do with that asteroid, giving Nagase a key role in the other 2 games, and ending it by succeeding with an inch away from Strangereal being destroyed.
Ace Combat 8: The Great Beyond. A newly united Strangereal flies planes into space to fight Asteroids.
We also need to include the Belkans some how. (Sorry ACF) We could say they're the ones causing the asteroid problem with new technology.
@@SaltyGamer777 Damn belkans.... and their space tech... i swear... thy are probably the casue for Electrosphere aswell xD
@@SaltyGamer777
belkans, still sore and salty, decides to "make changes" to the asteroid redirection operation, fucks up, and put strangereal in jeopardy.
assuming asteroid redirection program involves blowing chunks off it to steer it off course, belka secretly changed it so the blown off chunks will strike the planet. plan somewhat succeeds, but the broken chunk was bigger than was expected and it could cause another ulysses, so now everyone have to clean up after the nation that did nothing wrong.
tada~ AC8 end game premise done.
So Strangreal was saved two times in 2019.
Trigger, Osea and Erusea destroyed the Ravens, and Kei managed to destroy an asteroid headed towards Strangereal. Neat.
Great video! It has given me much needed context.
Could you please do a video on all of Nagase's appearances throughout the series?
I got chills so hard it almost burned, reaching the end of the final mission. And not because of Nagase.
This was the BEST cameo and ending to AC7
Thanks for the explanation video, as a dude who's first AC game was AC7 the video helped out quite a bit.
My expectation in future Ace Combat that will set in Leasath Civil War
Well that game has already been made, though it would be great if ACX was given a remake
for some reason I want them to make use of the space elevator in the next game.
Nice work!! I got goosebumps when I heard it!!
And then we had the war in AC3.
But before that we had Leasath's Civil War and then the Aurelia-Leasath one
SHES MY FUCKING HERO! I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL DURING AC5
When I first heard Nagase's voice I was positive I skipped a previous cut scene or missed some critical radio chatter. It's great to know the real story, but it's marginally irritating that the only way to learn it was from the collector's edition. (until this informative video came out of course).
Thank you for this awesome lore. Now it all makes sense to me.
Man i almost cried when i hear her voice
I just got into Ace Combat with Ace Combat 7... and I regret not finding it sooner. I already finished ace combat 7 4 times and am doing a 5th run just to get the last medals.
you know what bugs me out the most? that we'll have to wait another 7ish years for the next AC :(((
Shit, you're right.
Shit starts to go real again? Better call the Razgriz.
Want to save the world? A Razgriz will get the job done.
This all make me wish to know what happen to the rest of Razgriz after the end of the last war.
Hope they show or write about it someday.
Thank you for all the beautiful information!!
As a PC gamer, thank you for taking the time to explain this. I haven't had the opportunity to play the other games (minus X), so was really lost to the ending; that said, as an outsider to the franchise, I think they should have wrapped things up using the charachters and arcs showcased in the game itself rather than with something only people who have access to a Playstation would have understood.
has anybody figured out who was the voice say, today was the day of her return at 9:38. it been bugging me because it does sound like any voice we heard before
The myth
The legend
The meme
KEI NAGASE!
Now imagine
What if after nagase expressed her gratitude
Then she said “blaze, what do you think of that pilot?”
The end....
Blaze answer: Yes.
Let me know
I feel AC3 has the most varied missions of the franchise, with AC5 behind.
Nagase: We've returned to a find the promised Bridge if Peace! That must mean peace has been attained in the world.
AWACS Long Caster: You guys would not believe how much war you missed on your trip!
I want cipher to comeback Miss him so much
i'd like to think he and the others like phoenix retired, but that wouldnt make sense if nagase is still so young
Johnny Sasaki: Finally a worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary
The names of those part of the Sand Island squadron were probably hidden. Besides maybe Chopper.
9:40
Trigger : nice to hear your voice again Nagase.
Nagase: blaze.
If I was blaze I would tell nagase I love her and marry her. Also make belka great again
Same. And I have 7 ideas to make Belka great
0:44 damn thats a looong track record 😳 i thought i knew her from Ace Combat Infinity but didn't know she was in so many other games too wowie, a true legend to be in that many games, and battles
I do wonder how did she get through the debris field formed by the ablation cascade after Osea and Erusea's destroyed each other's satellites. But since she's an ace pilot, I bet it was just another normal day at work for her.
She left SEVEN years before Ace Combat 7.
@@alexvanbeek7165 I think he is talking about coming back
The International Space Elevator is supposedly 100,000 kilometres tall, which is well above the orbital distance of satellites. So presuming Nagase docked somewhere near the top, she would have been well above the main debris field. Plus we saw that a lot of debris fell towards the planet, so maybe the debris field was thinned out by that point.
Must be in geo-stationary orbit which is much more further from the space debris.
After you said the editor's brother in law was KIA, I had chills running through my body...
ace combat would be ace combat without nagase
Hex Stridder1 nope because AC5 wouldn’t be as great as it is
AC6 actuaopy has no Nagase in it. Sad me.
When I saw her in the comms, I literally paused the game in the middle of chasing the drone, and jumped like crazy.
