- Hello all, and particularly to any left handed guitar players. In this episode we have a look at the barriers we face in buying a new guitar, as well as opening a discussion on whether there is something we could do to make the experience better!.
Jerry’s in Sarasota Florida and Southpaw in Bel-air Texas, near Houston. These two are the only lefty shops I know of.
No doubt I would love to go to Southpaw Guitars and soon. Amazing selection.
I don't think there's much we could do to broaden the selection at shops or even online. It's such a niche market. I understand why from a business perspective, although some manufacturers offer all models in LHC at no extra cost. I feel your pain though. I would like to have a Jaguar bass. NOPE! Fender only offers the Precision or Jazz basses in LHC.
You have the privilege of being the first commenter on this channel! I agree entirely I'm afraid, It is a niche market Indeed. J
Ive been playing as a lefty for a lot of years and have a reasonable collection of lefties, they are out there, but not readily available in many cases, I would suggest you just have to keep looking and look to specialist retailers. Ref the comment of try before you buy, as a lefty thats pretty difficult, you just have to accept that. I would say the to get a lefty now the choice is far better across all price ranges than it was in the 70s yes you often have to pay a premium particularly if you buy from the US however the US price is often cheaper than the UK (despite dealers saying otherwise) which can help to offset the shipping costs etc.
Great info thanks for your comments! I agree about buying in from the USA. It's the best way to get the guitar you want.
I play ambidextrously so playing left handed is half of what I do. All my lefties except my cheap acoustic I’ve bought online. As others have pointed out there are dedicated left handed guitar shops
