    It drove me nuts that your doorbell was so obviously crooked, lol just wanted to reach through the video and straighten it 😁

      Yeah.. I need to fix that, at first it was just a temporary install during testing and I utilized a previous hole, but we decided to keep it

    Does the solar panel give the cameras 24/7 power so they can record 24/7?

    • @BrandonDoyleMN
      @BrandonDoyleMN  21 день тому

      Unfortunately, they still cannot record 24/7 for that I recommend getting PoE cameras with an NVR such as reolink

    Why didn't you go with the Yale x nest doorlock?

      We actually had one there for awhile, ended up switching to the schlage encode plus because it has keypad, physical key for backup, integrates with everything we use, and also works with apple key. I've got videos on pretty much every smart lock out there if you want to check them out

    Nice video. It’s a real shame that google killed off the Chromecast Audio as that was a great device for keeping ‘dumb’ vintage speakers and amps going. Same with the Google Home Max speaker. It’s was one of the best powerful smart speakers.
    The only thing that concerns me about having a google smart ecosystem is their track record of abandoning devices. They seem to have slowed down on the release of new hardware. In the last year the only thing I can think of them releasing is the nest cam battery. Hopefully they up their game in 2023.

      Yeah, it'd be nice to see more new products. I am very impressed with the new doorbell and it was a pretty easy transition from Alexa since most of the devices we use were compatible with both.

      @@BrandonDoyleMN I’ve pretty happy living in my Google smart home ecosystem. My only temptation is to check out HomeKit as I used an iPhone and also have a MacBook. The sooner everyone is completely interchangeable the better.
      Good to hear positive reports about the Nest Camera as I’ve been tempted by it several times.

    You should get a keypad lock that house no keyhole whatsoever, keyholes can always be picked super easily with a lock pick.

    • @BrandonDoyleMN
      @BrandonDoyleMN  Рік тому +2

      If someone really wanted to get in our house they'd break in no matter what. Granted they'd be on all sorts of different cameras and the alarms would trigger, but there really is no stopping a determined criminal unfortunately.
      Also I test and review smart home products for Realtor Magazine so that lock has been changed out 20+ times already. Currently there is Yale Assure 2 lock there, next up is one from Eufy

    Have to agree with you on the responsiveness, its small but it is indeed annoying

    • @josemanuellastra2488
      @josemanuellastra2488 Рік тому

      And only gives very short spoken responces, chiefly talking about WEB results and word definitions, is a shame that Google Assistant in headphones and smart speakers, having the Google searcher inside, can’t read me all the information of a WEB result if I ask her to do so, only very short spoken responces. Nobody talks about it, for people with visual disabilities like me, a smart speaker must be define beyond a speaker just for music and smart home control, it’s a source to listen to audible information in an accessible way, so, it should work, and work entirely errors free

    Why did Alexa not work with you?

    • @BrandonDoyleMN
      @BrandonDoyleMN  Рік тому +3

      It was great for years but I got sick of it trying to sell me stuff and wanted to try out Google. Both are good, it’s really just a matter of personal preference. I like the Google hub more, it seems like the search is better, and the home app is easier to use. Alexa can do more automations and seemed slightly faster to respond. They’re both still in our house but I find myself using Google more often

      @@BrandonDoyleMN, Alexa is courteously chatty. Google is annoyingly intrusively talkative when not needed.
