I owned many Mercedes cars, my first one was a 1989 560SEL and the last one was a 2005 S500. They are great cars, very powerful, amazing rides and extremely safe. Mercedes biggest problem is the amount of "NEW" technology they add to their new models almost every year. Mercedes is obsessed with adding new high tech stuff that in many cases they just spend the money on adding high tech at the expense of reliability tests. This is normally a problem with their higher end models especially the S class. E and C class have always been more reliable because those new innovations are added at later stages after they tested them on S class. I'm not saying that they are horrible cars, they are very good and reliable but you need to take care of them because any issue even if it's small can start a chain reaction that can be quite tricky to deal with later if you neglect it.
My 5 top likes of the C200bW205 1. Lever gear shifts which frees up a lot of vital space in the center counsel. Both hands are on steering handle once engine started. 2. Paddle gear shifts are wonderful for dynamic and spirited driving. Again both hands are firming on steering wheel. 3. Electric brakes which is an excellent safety feature. No sliding back nor driving with brakes on. 4. Reversing camera which is excellent for old folks not having to strain looking back, and, 5. Excellent economy and performance. Below 110km I am clocking 5.5 liters/100 km.
Hi i just bought a 2015 c400 and i noticed when i finish driving that i park and turn off the car i go to the front and get close to hood and it smells like coolant/antifreeze but no leak no where is that the smell benz give?
Hi Durbin. I like your video on your C-Class. It is a beautiful car. As a Mercedes Sports Sedan I am sure it performs well. I am just an average Joe. I like performance but my car has to be an everyday drive. Driver & passenger comfort and affordability is important to me. Thank you for sharing your honest opinion on your C-Class 300.
Mine is a c300h 2016 i barely see any videos or any of the same cars listed the SE model i have had it for less than a year and it needed a nox sensor something broke where the car did not start and move and now my transmission valve is broken really bad experience and i have serviced and evreything kn tome
Why/when did they stop putting in Hardan Kardon system in. Mine was a 2010 C300 Sport 6 cyc. The sound was great! The drive is even better with nitrogen filled tires.
FYI: I used to disable ECO ("Engine Cut Off") religiously to preserve the starter & battery but learned the smart alternator software logic uses these Stop cycles to EVALUATE battery CHARGE LEVEL when the battery is under discharge vs. how long. These cars use a dynamic regenerative charge that varies from 14.9V down to 12.6V (sometimes bugged below 11.8V ) else the computer software can deep drains the main AGM batt while cruising at HWY speeds then low voltage causes dangerous module failure (Transmission limp or "steering disable" message). Make friend with ECO... 👍🏻
Love the car. The five things that you did not like about the Mercedes were not that bad. You had me a little nervous, because we purchased a Mercedes like yours three days ago. lol

Wow, that sounds like my 2004 Mercedes benz clk 320. I'm wearing out tires like crazy on the rear. I don't know if suspension problems, what I hate it also. I'm filling the rear is moves to the side when I drive over any kind of bumps
I have a C250 from 2013 and the biggest gripe I have is that if I lift my foot from the gas pedal the car literally grinds down to a crawl. Is it the fuel injection? clogged fuel line? I have only put 25,000 miles on it.
There’s not really an alignment issue, from Factory all our cars (me working in a Benz dealer) have around -1°30 camber on the rear wheels, with the all wheels also toed inwards all for handling reasons. With it technically being a sports sedan, it makes a bit more sense. Just be glad you don’t have the 19” rims! They have the performance tires instead of grand touring tires. Also run flats just have a really really stiff sidewall, no special filling
I very much agree about the 19” rims! I’ve had two Mercedes with those. I’m so glad to have purchased wheel and tire insurance both times. Between the two cars, I’ve probably had 6 flat tires from potholes or road construction. These cars came from the dealer with no spare tire or jack because they had run-flats. Very annoying to have a flatbed come every time and take it back to the dealer for a new tire. They don’t always have one in stock. A day or two later we have to drive to the dealer and pick the car up. I will definitely go for the 18” rims on the next one!

welcome to Benz artificial chaos! I drive a '14E350 with the same stupid KGo issue. The FIX for the crazy KeylessGo module is a simple software update of the door modules (yes DOORS, Not KGo module in the trunk) When Keyless is not happy it keeps trying to locate the key and drains the tinny 3v battery. You replace Batt then 2 weeks later same message comes up... Dealer updates KeyG module same thing. What is sad is many if not most Benz dealers put on a show for warranty purposes but do zip. All these fixes are well documented under XENTRY module troubleshooting and Benz published TSB's - So dealers do a good job at hardly fixing anything not super-major because they get paid 12minutes by Benz books but can charge you $1,200 when warranty expires.

I’m considering pulling the trigger on a 2015 with 20k on the dash for a very good price. It was a dealer car then a short lease. Looks to have good service history. I think it’s a base model but it has 18 inch wheels that look much better than the standard 17s. No nav, no driver assist, and no fancy air suspension and all that. Maybe that’s just less things that could go wrong! I know the dealer and he’s going to sell me a bumper to bumper warranty for close to cost, so under 2k for 4 years / 50k. Wish me luck!
So I just got a newer C-Class, and I noticed when it’s in Sport+ the upshifts are amazing, but when it downshifts it’s a bit more agressive and I noticed it jerks A LITTLE, not too much but I can feel it just a bit
I have a 2016 C300 and Ive had issues with the windshield since I bought it. The rain puddles and the wipers dont clear it. It makes it nearly impossible to see when it rains. The dealership keeps putting new wiper blades on and a wax on the windshield to repel water but all it does is makes it foggy looking and more difficult to see out of. Ive also had the windshield replaced twice due to chips and cracking. I also reported it to MB USA and they had a windshield specialist come out and inspect it and they came to the conclusion thats its the windshield Dynamics. There isnt anything they can do. Im just not able to drive the car when its dark and raining hard. Its been a nightmare in the rainy season. I thought MB took my safety seriously but I guess not. But ALL the issues you have had with yours I have had as well except the start button. I commute so I have 65k miles on mine. For my next car Im looking at the Jaguar SUV Fpace, I just might leave my MB family due to this windshield issue and not being taken care of.
Excellent video. I never thought about the C class until recently. Family has S and E class vehicles through out the years and currently. But I'd definitely consider this one. It is gorgeous.
I also have a 2016 C300 and it’s not the camber that’s the problem. If you can find a trustworthy shop, you’ll find the issue is the toe values. Most shop will set it at an acceptable range. And most of the time the toe values are significantly different from either side. Long story short, I’ve been on same tires for 25k miles and no wear issues.
One small thing I hate about my 2016 C300, is the stock audio system is so thin. No sub woofer in the back, which is ok but not an ounce of bass. Another thing is there’s no volume increase or decrease display. I’m currently deciding on how to remedy this problem. Otherwise I love my car!
What happened to the Mercedes star on the front? Didn´t all Mercedes cars used to have one before and why did they get rid of it? Now I see only the s class have one.
Diogenes I just got to 50k. Replaced the 4 tires at 45K. Oil changes every 10k Miles. No mechanical issues yet. Only issue is there is a crack (about 1cm) on the MB-Tex leather on the drivers seat around the shoulder area.
I had the following issues with my c300 - Heads-up display died(luckily under warranty), constant smell of oil/gas fumes inside, loud engine noise(cheap sounding), problem with AC system blowing hot air.

Great video for someone like me just getting into lux cars! Can it serve me well for atleast 3yrs if I buy one with close to 100k miles on it? I'm more concerned about their engines and transmissions or anything else that could suck $$$ down the down. I'm currently looking at a 2016 c300 , one owner. Thanks
Reliability has been great. About to pass 100k miles. No sweat! It’s eating rear tires from the camber issue. Need to take into dealer to figure out if it’s a bushing issue or just sagging
@@TheDurbinCompound what's the update on that issue I'm curious is this still that great entry level luxury in comparison to the new cla and a class now offered from Mercedes
Interesting video, for real. Different perspective. I do drive the 2018 C180, but I don't have these issues. The key fob...no problems. Your issues (like space and wheels) would not bother me, but I understand your frustration. I will say I prefer the C180 to the old Mercedes GLA 200 I had for almost 7 years, lol. Haha. It was a hand-me-down, I did not get it new, so I did not get to choose what I wanted on it or not. Nice car, man. 💖
I know what your saying about problem number 3. Fiber optics. Having problems stabilizing my bass. What do I do? The batt seems to drain no matter what and the car tells me to pull over and let the engine run for 15mins. Thats crazy nece re seen that before in my 43 yrs
I like this Video and one major point. This camber thing is a real issue. I owned three Benz, 2010, 2013 and now 2014 all C- Class over the past 10 years. And everyone of them had and has this issue. I went or go thru at least one rear tire per year. And like this video, its been to the repair shop to correct this, and the fix has only been short term. Yes I think Mercedes need to look at this. But like Durbin, I like my cars.
That explains why the rear end on my '14E350 feels weird on uneven pavements. It feels as if the rear toe was out: one wheel trying to overpower the opposite one, unstable rear end. I dont have a complet analysis but I know Benz control arm *bushings* are softies. My rear end ride was sharp for the first two years (30kMi) then downhill
I have the camber issues on my 2007 S550. I ate through a set of rear tires in 12k miles! I went to the tire place and they slash the tire warranty on half on all Mercedes because they’re known to do this and the dealer said this was “normal.” It’s crazy. But I still love the car. My family just got a 2015 C300 and we love the car. It only has 23k miles and it’s pretty much loaded (everything except airmatic and Distronic) and the car is such a great value.
Yep 👍 tire place didn’t warranty me anything because I didn’t rotate and balance every 3000 miles. Hahaha I laughed. I’d be in there every 3 weeks having it done! No way.
TheDurbinCompound I can’t really rotate my tires because they’re staggered (275 rears and 255 fronts) but I guess I can do it side to side. They mentioned to come in around 6k miles since I got my tires to get a “free rotation”. I got mine at discount tire. Sure I did a few burnouts and stuff, but 12k miles is crazy fast. It only ate the inside of the tires and the outsides were fine. I’ve had the car aligned twice but it hasn’t changed much.
Exactly my issue as well. I made the staggered wheel set comment as well and they told me they do it side to side. My tires wore the same way. It’s a pain.
@@TheDurbinCompound what sort of wear pattern do you see on your rears?? Are you sure its not just a bad toe that wears out the tire edges. Cause would be soft control arm *bushings* that let the rear get soft around neutral toe. Caster: what would cause the rear caster to get out of spec??
OK weirdly enough I just bought a used 2017 C class but it fucking smells like gas . .. so I read up on the class action lawsuit on this issue …call Mercedes have a case number to get that fixed. Did you have an issue with that, do you even still have the car?

What I can’t understand is why MB haven’t given most Mercedes vehicle Apple CarPlay accessible feature and forcing customers to get it retro fitted If needed, when most vehicle now a days comes standard 🤔
The leg room is actually decent, I am 6'1 and I can sit behind myself. I had a F30 and traded in for the205. It's a better car overall. There is crankcase position sensor issue that seems to be very common. @ 60K Left me stranded wont start, had to get a tow.

Maybe that’s just less things that could go wrong! I know the dealer and he’s going to sell me a bumper to bumper warranty for close to cost, so under 2k for 4 years / 50k. Wish me luck!
why buy a used bare bone German car with vinyl seats when you can get the whole experience for 500 more in a used vehicle 😂
Agree smaller back seat area than I expected
So I just got a newer C-Class, and I noticed when it’s in Sport+ the upshifts are amazing, but when it downshifts it’s a bit more agressive and I noticed it jerks A LITTLE, not too much but I can feel it just a bit
It’s normal. Mine does the same but still shifts smoothly.
Man I haven’t heard a nightmare story that bad! Thanks for sharing!
Hi- does your car have a gap in the rear bumper? Between the rear quarter of the car and bumper...
Negative. No gap
My 2016 c300 is a great car. Key fob goes through batteries like crazy?
Yes I just let the “replace key battery” message just keep coming on.
Excellent review, great starting statement but the real deal on issues. Looking for my wifes new car so this was great.
You’ve had the car for a year and you’re at 70k miles?! Lord. I barely make 10k in 2 years
Excellent video. I never thought about the C class until recently. Family has S and E class vehicles through out the years and currently. But I'd definitely consider this one. It is gorgeous.
Yeah I know! I like it as well! It’s definitely an economy car. I’d hate to see gas usage in the S class V8 for a daily driver!!
Rich guy
Google A- and B-class and prepare yourself!
Great review, you look a like a nice guy to talk to. Enjoy your benz.
Good to know!
Have you had the wrist pin issue i have the same car as you 4 matic etc im at 65,000 miles i thinks its broke in already
I have not had the issue come up yet
@@TheDurbinCompound awesome I read it as the early 2015 models mostly with it and a few rare occasions the 2016 and 2017 it was corrected by mercedes
Well hopefully mine falls into the corrected category. I remember reading about it but haven’t thought about it in a long time
@@TheDurbinCompound so just let it go then and stop living in constant worry
True story
I just bought a white 2016 C300 with 30,000 miles. I love it!
got a 2017 c300 2 weeks ago too, love the car.
I’m looking to buy a gray c300 w 46k miles how’s it going so far for you?
Steezy angel so far it’s been great! It runs smooth. It’s just the gas that runs out so quickly
130k miles. I just had to replace my 5 year old battery. The car is as maintenance free as you’re gonna get!
One small thing I hate about my 2016 C300, is the stock audio system is so thin. No sub woofer in the back, which is ok but not an ounce of bass. Another thing is there’s no volume increase or decrease display. I’m currently deciding on how to remedy this problem. Otherwise I love my car!
so you had an issue with the fob, and go through an extra set of rears every now and then.. ill take it!
exactly
Can you do cost of ownership as you considered in doing.. thanks a lot in advance.. im looking to buy used 2016 c300..
Mercedes C300 Cost of Ownership - Driving The W205 For 70K Miles!
ua-cam.com/video/JTXI8QvhjbA/v-deo.html
💥 Boom done
How do I know if I have the w205?
Should i buy one of these babies used with only 1 past owner at 40k miles? Or the miles are too high to be worth it
Read all the comments. Buy it! Has been a great car! Out on a 1000 mile trip now, car has over 90k on it. No issues.
Have you had a cel show up yet? My 2015 throwing p052e which is probably the pcv valve. Just out of warranty of course
You should not get the C class if you want space on back seats, S Class or E class is more likely for you.
I love this dude honest and funny, why is this so funny to me?
Im looking at same car year 2015 anything i should look into before purchase?
Nothing in particular. Solid car. Make sure everything works!
Make sure you can afford to get it repaired and serviced because it isn't cheap
That is a true statement! Service isn’t cheap!
What happened to the Mercedes star on the front? Didn´t all Mercedes cars used to have one before and why did they get rid of it? Now I see only the s class have one.
Great video! Helped me a lot!
Awesome! Thanks for the comment!
Thank for the information, very helpful
No problem! Thanks for watching!
This car is for young couple, not for family.
Key detection issue stopped for me on key#2 I think it's a transponder glitch maybe but it hasnt happened in the last 30k miles
Do you think replacing headlight assemblies voids MB warranty?
Highly doubtful
Always keep the originals though! Just in case!
Thanks for this video, I’ve been in the market for one and you really helped me figure out the direction I’m going to possibly choose.
Don’t get a shitty c class. 3 series and a4 are better cars. Mercedes starts at E class.
Totally agree with the run flat tires.
John Mulkerrin, tottally right John!
Like Jay Z said, if you can't buy it twice, you cant afford it. Great video my friend!
More room in the back...let’s make a new spacious Mercedes and call it S-Class...
That’s a beautiful car. I have one too LOL. A 2016. Same color. Love driving it.
sportyguyusa is it reliable? I’m planning on getting one straight from Germany but everyone says after 40k they start breaking down
Diogenes I just got to 50k. Replaced the 4 tires at 45K. Oil changes every 10k Miles. No mechanical issues yet. Only issue is there is a crack (about 1cm) on the MB-Tex leather on the drivers seat around the shoulder area.
I am currently at 90k miles. No major issues
sportyguyusa I do upholstery so I’m glad that’s the only issue 😂
Welp hope I didn’t jinks your guys sweet cars. Good luck and thanks 🙏
I had the following issues with my c300 - Heads-up display died(luckily under warranty), constant smell of oil/gas fumes inside, loud engine noise(cheap sounding), problem with AC system blowing hot air.
I had a problem with my ac in my c300. I replace the ac button and sometimes I smell gas frames inside my car when its sitting for a while in park
Good stuff, I just bought my son a 2016 fully loaded.
Those kids are spoilt let them save and work for there own car.
@@theheaterguyryan5052 In a way I agree. As a Retired Tomato grower, I know a lot about hard work. He's 17 and still in high school. he does work hard tho. In school. all advance classes all straight A's since 3rd grade. Shooting for "Computer Forensics". Proud dad indeed. Maybe one day he can return the favor? hehe
I am sorry for been so blunt.
@@theheaterguyryan5052 my dad wouldn’t even buying me a bus pass 😤
Great video for someone like me just getting into lux cars!
Can it serve me well for atleast 3yrs if I buy one with close to 100k miles on it? I'm more concerned about their engines and transmissions or anything else that could suck $$$ down the down.
I'm currently looking at a 2016 c300 , one owner. Thanks
It is a gorgeous car. I want to thank you for your honesty! 😀
I agree no back seat room !
I’m considering that too! Did you try?
I got c220 2019 and it’s awesome 😎
Where are the jack points for front end to get the car lifted both front tires off the ground
How’s reliability been? I have a 2015 Infiniti Q50 but I think I ant to trade it for a 2015 C300
You said a lot of important things. Not sure why the thumbs down ratings. I gave it a thumbs up. Thanks.
some ppl with dreams can't look at reality straight at face value 🙂
Is it ok to use other tires apart from run flat tires
Absolutely. I run Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+
Thank you, for keeping it real.
Do you have huge maintenance problem? Any parts that needed replacing and the cost of them?
How much is the Pcp repair?
It’s for small family or best for two persons
I agree with all your points, experienced the same issues
It’s not anything crazy but just annoying
Did you make that video summarizing how much you'd spent?
OK weirdly enough I just bought a used 2017 C class but it fucking smells like gas . .. so I read up on the class action lawsuit on this issue …call Mercedes have a case number to get that fixed. Did you have an issue with that, do you even still have the car?
interesting communication errors, do you have a mod or follow up for fob, com issue, typically a blue tooth issue
What type of tires do you use? And are they run flat?
Hows it nem holding up now? Miles?
Cool review - I love this car..!
MY C350 are also sometimes not detected the key too so what you can do just press your key lock and unlock button then will ok.
U have the illuminated star? Where can I order it for the c300?
You can order them on Amazon, eBay, any aftermarket Benz shop. Heck, even the dealer if you are feeling froggy. Here is one from Amazon;
LED Emblem for Mercedes Benz A/B/C/CLS/E/GLK/GL/R Series, Front Car Grille Badge, White Light www.amazon.com/dp/B07N2FZBNY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JVu3Cb8B41MSE
TheDurbinCompound I been looking for one for mine, which one did u buy? And how was it “installed” love the illuminated look
My car came optioned with the illuminated star. I did not install it. It should be a fairly easy project though. I would search around on here and I’m sure someone has a good video! Thanks for the comment!
TheDurbinCompound ohhh gotcha, thank you!
Sorry I couldn’t help ya out directly! My buddy over at @AlwaysUp2Late has done it on his W204 but I don’t think he did a video. Hope to see you around the channel!
I'm considering a 2014 C300 over my current 2016 BMW328i. I really like that body style. If anyone has any input it would be appreciated.
You can buy this one! I may be selling it to get a truck!
@@TheDurbinCompound thanks for the offer but I really like the older body style.
why go back when you can go forward...
C-class have extra sporty tuned suspensions with low profile tires 🙂
What I can’t understand is why MB haven’t given most Mercedes vehicle Apple CarPlay accessible feature and forcing customers to get it retro fitted If needed, when most vehicle now a days comes standard 🤔
The leg room is actually decent, I am 6'1 and I can sit behind myself. I had a F30 and traded in for the205. It's a better car overall. There is crankcase position sensor issue that seems to be very common. @ 60K Left me stranded wont start, had to get a tow.
