    I really like and appreciate that the host is actually educated on these things! that's so important, because you get a lot of interviews like this where you can just tell the host is very uninformed and ends up asking terrible questions or makes the whole setting awkward and uncomfortable etc. so kudos to you on doing it right !

      Player 2 I haven't met many Dutch nb people, what pronouns do you use in Dutch?

    • @esmeevanthof99
      @esmeevanthof99 7 років тому +5

      Alicia Ippel Okay, that's cool! I asked about it mostly because in Dutch the equivalent of they/them is very very rare, even most people in the lgbt+ or trans community don't know how to use them and so far everyone I've met who was agender or non-binary used he/him or she/her, so I was curious to know if there may be more people who do use gender neutral pronouns and which ones. The only time I've seen a Dutch person use gender neutral pronouns was once on tv.

    I'm honestly so confused on my gender. I was born female but I hate being called lady or girl or things of that nature. When people call me he/him it doesn't bother me but it doesn't feel like me. Only one person calls me they/them but I just asked one of my closest friends to start using they for me as well so I can figure out if that's what I'm comfy with. Idk I'm just so confused. I kind of feel really great just doing me and being a happy little they but I fear the fact that so many people don't support non binary genders :(

      I can understand. I was born female and have preferred male pronouns for as long as I can remember. I liked playing with Barbie dolls but I loved my toolbox. I had a princess dress that I wore because it made my mom smile. I thought I always had to be a girl, and when I saw pixie cuts, I wanted one IMMEDIATELY. Though, now that I know that I am not a girl, I can hopefully shed some light on the i guess "girly" Side of trans guys. Some of us like pink, some of us like makeup and hair styling. I personally think clothes hair and makeup have no gender. Do what you want to be happy, as long as it isn't harmful to your body. Be yourself ALWAYS!

Unfortunately, feminism has left its fucked up mark on this country and made it acceptable to spit at any heterosexual white male you see. I am not against lgbt, but lgbt is against me, and it has made it clear that America is not the country for me. Russia is my new homeland, and I long to see the day I set foot onto Russian soil.

    • @marshmallowkitty946
      @marshmallowkitty946 7 років тому +9

      Dude, seriously? 17 is so young, that's ridiculous that people would expect someone to have had sex by that age. Like, if you want to, that's cool, but like... 17 is really young, what's the rush? There's so much pressure on people to do that kind of thing at such a young age, it's so stupid. Like, I'm 18 and I've never even been in a relationship before, let alone had sex! I'm bisexual as well so it's not like I'm not interested or anything, I just haven't found the right person. It's ridiculous that people put pressure on people that young to have sex and it's stupid to put pressure on people to have sex full stop. People really need to understand that not everybody is interested in sex as well.

I was born female, my gender is female and my gender expression is really feminine, and I am happy. We don't have to "end gender" we just have to accept other genders or genderless people...

    This video really spoke to me. Many of my friends seem to enjoy to make fun of non-binary people, "i identify as a helicopter" and all that jazz. It's been really irking me for a while, but this has really validated my feelings about the whole conversation. I don't understand why people need to criticise, mock and stereotype people like Miles, who I love and have followed his journey from when he made Doctor who videos as a straight girl, to discovering their sexuality and finally coming to terms that they're transgender! It's just not cool, and just because you could never fathom yourself going through a similar experience with your gender, doesn't mean it's not possible! It really hurts me, because I know there could be anyone around them with these feelings, and these constant comments just discourage them to accept themselves, damage their self esteem and make it less likely for them to come out of the closet. Anyway, maybe I need new friends haha.

      Because you weaponize minorities such as Transsexuals to take a stab at white straight non trans men. We're fucking sick of it. "But how can you hate miles you big bigot?!" Because people like miles are praised in this backwards culture in America while people like me who are white straight non trans males are vilified daily by mainstream media such as CNN, ABC, and Buzzfeed. Don't like my answers? The truth is never a rainbow with pots of gold.

    • @Healoz
      @Healoz 7 років тому +8

      Since when were the only people who were hating transgender people straight white men? I said absolutely nothing about the matter. I have friends of all shapes and sizes mocking people cruelly just because they're something not very often heard of in our everyday society. People like Miles are far from praised in everyday culture, I assure you. I do not have some grand scheme against straight white men, I think people who do are ridiculous. Why do you think people like Miles shouldn't be praised in mainstream media?

    • @trogvision7296
      @trogvision7296 7 років тому +2

      Healoz
      Regarding why they shouldn't be praised in mainstream media, they're just ordinary people. There's nothing special about them worthy of gaining the attention of the mainstream media. Heterosexuals aren't praised in the media so why should people like miles be praised in mainstream media?

    I respect all and always will. I just wish a non-binary gender identity would accept the feminine characteristics more.
    I also believe the world will become a gender less place, in that we will respect everyone's gender expression regardless of their biological sex. But I watch so many non binary youtubers who see little less than being perceived as a pubescent boy as non-binary expression.
    Due to our sexist, patriarchal society, the identity of a weak, hyper sexualised, less intelligent, less capable female human irks me.
    I'd like to identify as nonbinory partly for that reason alone but I'm not angered or upset at my body just the perception of my body... which leads to dysphoria.
    Basically, I'd love for a more feminine representation of non binary were you don't have to pass as a guy to be respected or accepted, or pass as a guy to pass as non binary.
    Does that make sense?

    • @anniebellec
      @anniebellec 7 років тому +9

      J Kally this is really true, and i agree. though i identify as a cisgender female, i know exactly what you mean. there's nothing wrong with how it is at the moment, but i would like to see a more feminine feel to being non-binary. i applaud you for coming up with this

    • @jkally1

      If you partly want to identify as something to prove a point i really think you need to think twice about the identity before you go along with it. It's not the fault of our society that most people who idenitfy with this "nonbinary" idea all happen to try and dress like men or cut their hair short. Also I dont know where you live but in most westernized socities there is no such thing as a patriarchy.

      It's been proven the "Patriarchy" is a bullshit lie made up by feminists to take a stab at straight white non trans men. If you were for equality, then why do you want to ban father's day and protest against any male domestic abuse shelters from being built? If you were for gender equality, you would call yourselves egalitarians, but you don't do that, and that's why I don't respect feminism.

Miles is a huge inspiration to me as well, but you should definitely explore within yourself and your own mind. It's totally cool if you are cisgender, transgender, or nonbinary, as long as you are able to say that it is what you truly feel. I'm glad you got things cleared up c: I've seen people identify as non binary/agender just because they "don't believe in gender", which makes no sense honestly :p like if gender is merely a social construct then why do most trans people physically transition? Why do I feel dysphoric about my chest?? Boobs aren't a social construct lol. But seriously, I am non binary myself because of how I feel I should be physically. Of course I do have social dysphoria too and I believe not all trans people have to have physical dysphoria, it manifests differently in everyone but there has to be some level of disconnect with your physical sex, not just "I don't conform to my gender role therefore I'm not this gender at all", I mean that is just reinforcing stereotypes lol.

    Miles has changed my life. He has taught me to be ok with myself and he taught me that whoever I am does not have to conform to society and I just feel like he really taught me just to be ok. I have gone through a really self destructive path as well. I tried to change myself to fit everyone else and when that didn't work I tried to,,, kill myself. I cut myself and I was just in a really bad place. I have a few people I can trust but the main person that I feel needs to be ok with me is me. My family is not accepting and I'm not fully out yet but at least I have one foot out instead of none. Being partly on the closet for me is just better than being fully in the closet. I don't want to have to hide who I am or who I present myself as. I still cut occasionally but it's bc the people around me are so unaccepting and that has just been my go-to solve. I know that's not the best thing but it's just what I know works for me. Anyway I just wanted to let anyone who is reading this comment to know if you are in a bad place or if you're not, CHECK OUT MILESCHRONICLES. I love him and I just smile when I'm watching my watch later and I see his hands run through his hair bc that's what he does haha. Anyway just check out his channel. I'm a huge fan.

    I like how Miles is open minded to other viewpoints about gender. Gender/sex theory is so complex and many people (especially non binary people) tend to be very hostile towards others who question their ideology or theories about gender. When in reality there are so many interesting views on gender and sex that it's important to have conversations about it.
    I definitely don't agree with all of Miles' ideas about being male or female (especially the idea that neutrality is ideal) but I like that he is accepting of people like me who disagree with it.

    How can you be Nonbinary if you're a girl taking testosterone to become male? This is very confusing to me. To be clear I hope they/them finds happiness in life.

      Nonbinary means they don't identify as male or female. Miles takes testosterone because they are more comfortable with coming off as more masculine. They also accept the pronouns he/him so that is probably why he presents himself as masculine. To make it simple gender doesn't always have to match up with gender expression. Like how a girl might like to dress like a boy but still is a girl. Or how some men do drag.
