    I put up a poll for what day of the week would work best for Let's Play uploads once Pikmin 4 returns! :) I hope to have a continuous weekly schedule when it comes back 1) because trying to push out up to two a week was getting to be too much and 2) so that there's consistency in uploads! 💙 Thanks in advance for voting. I appreciate your understanding!

    even though i have been more of a lurker these days, your playthru videos have been super good for background noise, and seeing the channel take a step into a new direction for more mixed content is really nice! personally, i prefer discussion videos and the ideas you have that are similar/are discussion vids r super interesting.

      I'm delighted that my playthrough videos make good background noise and that you're interested in checking out my mixed content! :D You'll be happy to hear that some of the videos I've been noodling on have been more discussion-oriented. I'm excited to hopefully get some of those out in January!

    Taking a break when you need it is the healthy thing to do. I'm set to get all notifications, so I'll see when you continue things or upload something easier to handle. Good luck with January!
    You mentioned reviewing other games and I have to put forward Tinykin for that. (There's a free demo on the Switch of the game's first level.) In this game you play as someone who comes to Earth from another world & is about the size of a mouse. You gather different kinds of tinykin to solve a variety of puzzle challenges throughout a giant house. Based on what I've seen on this channel so far, it seems like the kind of game you might enjoy.
    Yes, it's a pikmin-like, but it lacks any combat or time limits and its far more full of NPCs (with story threads to follow if you pay attention to all their dialogue as you go). It also adds some collection platformer elements. I feel like it's shorter than any Pikmin series game, but it has a lot of fun interactions, interesting puzzles, & good regions to explore (with a lot more verticality than the Pikmin series). I wouldn't be surprised if Pikmin 4's Hero's Hideaway took some inspiration from it, honestly.
    There's also a lot more mobility as well. Your tinykin never get stuck on geometry, you can jump decently high & glide across some gaps, and you can even grind on threads like Sonic does on rails. (None of this is anything you don't learn within the first 15 minutes of the game.)
    This wouldn't really help though with the idea of taking a break for a bit, as that'd be playing a- whole -nother game. Maybe there'd be less editing if you put up the gameplay of it because you don't need to grind up your numbers since combat's not a thing? It might just make more sense as a suggestion of something to play after you've finished Pikmin 4 though...
    There are a lot of other Switch games I could recommend as well, but most of them are a bit bigger & I was trying to think of smaller games that are still good, but might be easier to make a quicker video on because of their smaller size. I also don't fully know the range of games you tend to enjoy. For me:
    * Pikmin-likes, & Metroidvanias (top of my list)
    * Zelda-style games (exploration & upgrade based adventure games)
    * Puzzle games, Collection platformers, & Classic platformers
    * Other fun games are good too
    ...so most games I know well enough to suggest fall into those categories.
    A Short Hike is another smaller game that's on the Switch. It's a fairly chill & relaxed collection platformer focused on exploration, puzzles (with NPCs), and not being rushed. It also lacks combat.
    Donut County is fairly short as well (probably only 2-3 vids for the hole thing unless you cut it up super small, which would be very easy to do), and is similar to a Katamari game, but with a hole instead of a ball, no time limit, and much shorter levels.

      Thank you so much for your understanding! 💙 I'm happy to hear that you have all notifications set for me!! I consider that quite an honor. :D
      I took a look at the Tinykin trailer, and it looks super cute! Seems like the kind of game I'd enjoy, and since it's also available on Steam, I could play it on PC and spare myself the trouble of working with my capture card. 😹 Unfortunately, since it's a whole new game, I do think I'd want to wait on that at least until Pikmin 4 is complete; at this moment, I'm not sure how well I'd balance two LPs, even with the shorter level times. A Short Hike and Donut County will also be on my to-check-out list!!
      As far as other types of games I enjoy, I like Pikmin-likes and Zelda-likes as well! I'm fond of other types of RTS games (tower defense, building management, etc.) and big, open-world RPGs as well and other adventure-focused titles. Platformers are great as well if they have interesting lore and/or fun characters to go with them. :)

    Ooh I would love to see the value of a poko, I remember thinking about when I was playing Pikmin 2 for the first time seeing that 100 pokos was a years salary (I think I’d have to double check) almost makes me wonder if there are smaller currencies in the pikmin world (kind of like how the Harry Potter currency works)

    • @ScaleTree
      @ScaleTree  8 місяців тому

      I think you'll be delighted to know that this is a video I've been scripting, then! :D After doing the math, I would think that a poko HAS to have smaller subcurrencies (unless the length of a Hocotatian year is absurdly short, but even then, I'd have doubts about the viability of Hocotate being life-sustaining planet if it's TOO short). It's been fun working on it and I've got my fingers crossed I can get it out sometime in January!

      @@ScaleTree What I really want to know is who is paying 1 poko for enemy corpses if we take an average yearly salary and do the easiest math by just dividing it by 100, a dead Dwarf Bulborb is work anywhere from $100-$637, my personal head-cannon is that they are selling these bodies to scientists for further examination (based on how into science Olimar is based off of the notes and the rolecall at the end of Pikmin 1) alternatively Louie is 100% correct and these creatures are a delicacy.

    Some of the tier list ideas could be difficult before completing Pikmin 4... But the Pikmin 2 caves one wouldn't be effected by it. I'd recommend holding off any ideas that use info from Pikmin 4 until you've finished it, even if you think you have all the data on them.

    • @ScaleTree
      @ScaleTree  8 місяців тому +1

      Good point! I'll go ahead and save those ideas in my back pocket. I've been considering the Pikmin 2 Caves one above the other tier lists for similar reasons, so that should be good. :) Thank you!

    To be honest let’s get this out of the way take as much time as you need from UA-cam. I understand the stress of trying to please and audience and balance AND keep your life In check. All of the concepts are enticing no matter what concept you do, as long as it’s with the same quality put in this far, I’ll watch anything you put out. Oh and merry Christmas to you too! Thank you for putting me in your video it absolutely made my day!

I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoy all of the prospective concepts -- I hope to put my whole heart into each of them! :D And I'm so glad your comment being in my video made your day!!

    I love deep dives on game design, I've been hyperfixating on Don't Starve the last few days going over stuff but I'm a smoothbrain and can't really organize my thoughts very well, lol.

    • @ScaleTree
      @ScaleTree  8 місяців тому

      Deep dives on game design are some of my faves, too!! :D 💙 I haven't played Don't Starve, though I've seen some gameplay and have heard exceptional things about it. In terms of game design deep dives for my channel, I have a few titles in mind... it's so hard to pick which one to do first! (And hey, be kind to yourself. At the end of the day, you're having fun enjoying the game and its elements and that's all that really matters!!)

    Whatever you do I'll be here ! And I think many other people would as well !
    You could give me some raw footage and I still watch it
    but also I think it's good if you expand away from Pikmin in general so that your content is diverse and you aren't known only for Pikmin
    anything works I think i'd like to see that friend but all the rest seems very interesting !
    For example the tier lists sound great !
    And if you want you could talk about things you want to talk about like for example as it was written and as I know since you said that in one of your videos Biology and stuff like that !
    You could try to make a sort of mini series where you just rant about random stuff , like a mashup of all these ideas !
    But before all of that , please don't replace meals with takis and chocolate just for us !
    (also I haven't eaten a taki ever how does it taste ??)

    • @ScaleTree
      @ScaleTree  8 місяців тому +1

      Aaahhh, thank you so much! 💙 I'm so flattered to hear that you'd enjoy even my raw footage and that you'd stick by my content regardless! :D
      I love the idea of doing a mini series to just talk about other stuff I like. Biology would absolutely be up there, for sure. Maybe I could do trailer reviews for movies? That might also be fun! But yeah, I'll try not to replace meals with takis and chocolate moving forward. XD That was a little less than ideal.
      Thank you so much for your sweet comment!! I'm always delighted to see you in my comments section. :D
      (P.S.: Takis taste mainly salty, sour, and spicy! Think like a fiery-hot lime flavor with the texture of a thick tortilla chip. :) I wouldn't at all recommend them if you're sensitive to spice, but I like spicy foods and enjoy them as a fun snack from time to time. Not meal material, though!)

    It's always best for people to take a break when they need it. Since people's mental health is always the biggest priority. So I hope your break will be great. (I mean, I know you might get stressed at work. But hopefully it's not too stressful.). And in terms of ideas... Um... Nothing is coming to mind right now. (I might edit this comment if I think of something.). So for now, I will just say have a great day and break. And in case no Pikmin Christmas Video, have a Happy Holidays 😄

    I think that poko value video would be pretty neat, and the game reviews could be fun as well. Specifically the ones on Creatures and The Sapling. I've never even heard of them let alone played them, so I'm kinda curious how they are. I also really like the idea of game design talks. I don't know what on, but it definitely sounds like a good time to me. Truthfully though, I'll probably watch whatever you put out. I've been having a great time watching so far. :)

      Happy to report that I'm scripting the poko video, so hopefully I can put that out sometime! :D I'm also thriled to hear that you're interested in game design talks and especially reviews for Creatures and The Sapling -- the former is one of my favorite game series of all time, and the latter is still in development but has open betas and a world of potential! Either way, I'm honored to hear that you'd be interested to potentially see whatever I put out. I'm so happy you've been enjoying my channel! 💙

      Thank you so much!! :) I was a little afraid to pause things because I was afraid it would come across as whiny, perhaps? Or like I didn't care? I wanted to make sure that there was a good pause point for the series before I took a break as well. I will not give my Discord or Email but let me know if you are interested in a free somewhat-biased wall to bounce your ideas on.
